CAS(E) This Sketch 220

It's Thursday again and time for a new challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.  Although the sketch says flowers I went in a bit of a different direction!

I was contemplating a design at work the other day and asked a co-worker for her ideas for this sketch.  She is not a card maker or paper crafter so it was fun to hear her suggestions.  I think flip flops, seashells, and fish were among her ideas!  I don't actually have stamps with any of those images so I had to keep thinking.  I wanted to keep the triangular design of the focal image sort of tucked in the corner and remembered this little elf and I figured he fit the bill.  The way he is sprawled with those Christmas lights mimics the general layout of the sketch I think.  There's an anything Christmas theme at The Merry Christmas Challenge this month so I'm going to add this over there as well.

Freshly Made Sketches 163

I'm in full scale panic crafting mode as regards my Christmas card stash.  I've been making Christmas cards on a semi-irregular basis all year long and I'm still short the number that I need.  Enter the newest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, brought to you by the sublimely talented and sometimes rhinestone covered, Cindy Hall.  The sketch was perfect for a little hapless elf that I've got in my stash so I started coloring him up on Sunday in between football and making some other cards that I would need for the week.

By the time I was ready to assemble my card I thought this guy needed a little snarky sentiment to go along with the tangled mess he's got himself in so I grabbed the only snarky Christmas set I've got.  And it's pretty snarky!

I dug deep in my stash and used some old card stock and DSP for the background and threaded some festive baker's twine around to take the place of one of the layers on the sketch.  At least I've got one more card for the old stash, but this one is definitely a one-off.  It takes me too long to do all that coloring!

CAS(E) This Sketch 6

I've been having a little stamping mental block the last few days.  I hate when that happens because I know there's something creative inside my head that wants to emerge on cardstock but I just can't seem to get it out of there!  Today I was meandering around the craft cave when I stumbled on an image that I stamped ages ago and never used.  The newest challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch seemed like a good way to use it.

As you can see I turned the sketch on its side to accommodate this poor hapless fellow.  Why is it that the lights give us so much trouble when it's time to decorate the tree?  The snowflake DSP that I used is from my oh-so precious Holiday Thyme.  I've been on a mission for the last couple of years to use up all the Christmas-themed DSP that I've got, but cutting into this set is the hardest of all!

I've got my eye on a couple of challenges that I'd really like to participate in over the next couple of days so hopefully my forays into the craft cave will be fruitful.  In the meantime, thanks so much for stopping by!
