Fusion - Flowers

It's time for a new challenge from Fusion!  This week we've got a great sketch and some floral inspiration.  I opted to go with the flowers.

I don't have to state the obvious but I will just say that watercoloring is not my forte.  However, when I saw this inspiration photo I thought maybe I'd give it a go - especially since I had no other idea for those flowing flowers in the inspiration photo other than this wildflower stamp.  Since the stamp is a solid image I splashed down some colors behind it, added a raised sentiment, and I was done.  I also used the sketch from Fab Friday, turned clockwise.

Thanks for stopping by!  Join us at Fusion and be inspired by the sketch, the photo, or both!

Stamps:  Going to Seed (Woodware); Easy Expressions Birthday (The Ton)
Paper:  Pure Ivory (Gina K); Desert Storm (Neenah); Distress Watercolor (Tim Holtz)

CAS(E) This Sketch 156!

Happy Thursday!  Today we've got a new sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and it's a great one that is open to lots of interpretation!

I haven't used this particular stamp set in a dog's age so it was nice to ink it up.  The challenge at Can You Case It gave me the idea to do this in silhouette style - just black and white - and I stamped the sentiment on vellum to keep it simple.  I put a bit of brushed gold cardstock behind the vellum to make sure the sentiment was visible.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have time to check out the inspiration at CAS(E) This Sketch and join us in the gallery this week!

Supplies
Stamps:  Going to Seed (Woodware); Oh Happy Day (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Pure Luxury (Gina K); Brushed Gold, Vellum (SU)
Ink:  Onyx Black (Versafine)

colourQ 259

This week at colourQ the colors are little bold, a little sassy and a whole lot of eclectic.  They are inspired by this pair of wellies that are far to pretty to wear outside in the garden and get dirty!  I decided to do a little watercoloring, which happens to be the trend week challenge at Just Us Girls and to incorporate the layout from Sketch Saturday too.

I started with a watercolored background using Blushing Bride and Summer Starfruit but wasn't entirely happy with how it turned out so I went back over the colors with a grungy stamp or two.  Much better looking to my untrained eye!  Then I over stamped it in black with this wispy floral stamp, which happens to be a new favorite.  The little "thanks" circle is from one of the new Simon Says Stamps sets for the #Stamptember celebration.

I can't wait to see how you interpret these colors in the colourQ gallery this week.  As usual the design team has got some great cards to show you so be sure to check them out!  Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Many Thanks (Simon Says Stamp); Going to Seed (Woodware); Gorgeous Grunge (SU); Grunge Me (Papertrey Ink)
Paper:  Blackberry Bliss, Summer Starfruit, Whisper White (SU); Distress Watercolor (Tim Holtz)
Ink:  Blushing Bride, Summer Starfruit (SU); True Black (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories:  White Taffeta ribbon (SU)

A Note of Thanks for PPA215, Fusion

The beautiful colors this week at Pals Paper Arts were calling me as was the sketch at Fusion.  I was pretty sure that I had some Pear Pizzazz DSP hiding in my stash and after searching for about 15 minutes I finally found it.  I wish someone could tell me why my stash of patterned paper never seems to get any smaller!

I gave the white layer a spritz of color then inked up the floral stamp in black.  I love how the color is soft and imperfect.  The button was an afterthought because I forgot the little star element on the sketch.  I tried not to make it look too out of place and added some scrunched up thread behind it so that it was a little more interesting.  I think it may be a little hard to see in the photo but the vertical layer on the left of the sketch is actually a long line of black embossing paste on my card.  Boy, I love that stuff!

Thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate You Tag

I was so disappointed that I missed playing along with the first Tag You're It challenge that I was determined to play along with the second.  The inspiration tag had a wonderful sponged background so that's where I started with my interpretation.

I did a little emboss resist by stamping the floral images with some Versamark and heat embossing it in clear.  Then using the Just Us Girls challenge colors I sponged shades of blue and green with Distress Ink.  I added a sentiment (I'm obsessed with these label sentiments) and a die cut and I was done (although to be fair I added an eyelet, some black seam binding ribbon and a bit of baker's twine).

Thanks for stopping by!
