Oriental Man
Hi, sorry didn't get to post last night. We drove down the coast to our friends' house and had lunch with them and then went down to a lake that is fed from the sea and had a swim. Spent maybe an hour or so there and then headed back to the house and organised another meal. Two of their daughters came over and their partners and little grandson as it was our friend, Vaughan's birthday. At 9.30 p.m we were just thinking of heading back when my Mum rang. Her fridge had gone on the blink and as it was 41C yesterday we needed to get some of her food and especially her insulin under refrigeration. She had to throw out quite a lot of frozen meat that had already thawed out, luckily it was her rubbish removal today otherwise there would have been quite a smell! It was about 11.30 when we got to Mum's. LOL, I wonder if the neighbours were peeking out to see what was going on? After grabbing some of her food and insulin, Mum came and stayed the night with us and I took her home about tea time. She plugged the fridge in and a few minutes later the motor kicked in! So looks like it is working at present but still needs to be looked at to make sure it keeps going! No point in restocking it and chancing losing another lot of food.
At the moment I'm in the lounge room and the heat coming from the computer is adding to the general heat already in here, so am going to get on and share my card. I seem to be on a bit of an oriental kick at the moment, three in a row!
I've used a black basecard and then another of the lovely oriental papers I've had in my stash, I love these cranes. The image is one from my oriental collection and I think it may be the only male one I have, LOL, must go through them and check.
I stamped onto white card and sponged blue ink around the edge and also some yellow ink as well and then used a cream cardstock behind it. I decided not to use a sentiment but put something inside later.
Thanks for popping in hope the weather is treating you kindly, ours was another 40C day today but it is going to drop slightly tomorrow to 37C!!
Catch you all later,
Take Care,
Sandy

Girl in Kimono with paper embroidered frame
Well, the last day of the year has arrived. My OH and I are going to my Son and DIL's tonight. The rest of our family are all out doing something with friends tonight. My daughter's boyfriend's arm is on the mend, he ended up with two puncture wounds to the top of his forearm and one underneath that they hadn't even realised was there until the doctor looked at his arm. I hadn't realised they were quite so far from home when it happened and had several hours drive back as there was no hospitals in between their campsite and the city. Hubby's party went well and again we probably all ate too much. I will be glad to get back to normal eating!! It is 36.6C at the moment and is supposed to get to 38C. Tomorrow is going to be a sizzler reaching 41C and we are thinking of taking a drive down the coast to visit some friends who are having a break from their farm. They bought a holiday house and try and get down there as much as they can.
Well, I'm scheduling this post for tonight as we will be out and will probably see the New Year in before coming home, although I am tired at the moment but I suppose the grandchildren will liven things up a bit. LOL.
Well here is the card,
No stamping today.
The little oriental girl is a 3D image and I stitched a frame around her using a variegated thread, The base card is a vibrant pink from stash and I stitched onto a white panel of card and then adhered to the base card,
Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoy seeing the New Year in.
Take care,
Sandy

Oriental Woman
Hi everyone, another long day. I popped out early this morning with a friend to a coffee shop to catch up with our friend Shirley and her husband, Doug. Thanks for shouting me a coffee Shirley!
Then we went to a clothes shop and I bought a top and my friend bought a pair of trousers for her Mum and then I dropped her home and drove to get petrol for the car and stop in for groceries for tonight's birthday barbeque! Then spent the rest of the arvo doing some clothes washing, dish washing and packing my craft gear away again!
Made salads, a potato bake and decorated a shop bought pavlova base. It was nice to have all the family here and several friends to help celebrate my OH's birthday. It has been a very hot day but is lovely outside now, nearly midnight, LOL. Everyone left about 30-40 mins ago and then I tidied up the rubbish and recycling and put in the bins so I've only got some of the dishes to do in the morning as one of my daughters did some of the washing for me already, Isn't she lovely!!
Well, I am sharing a card that I made earlier as no time to craft today.
Here it is,
The basecard if SU Real Red and the DP is from a set of Oriental Papers I bought a few years ago at a craft fair. The stamp is also from a set of stamps I've had several years and I can't remember the name of it or who made it. I stamped it and then coloured with ink and a blender pen and fussy cut it out and added to the front of the card,
I'm going to enter this into Make It Monday #69 - Anything Goes
Welcome to new follower, Jules, thanks for your lovely comment too.
Thanks to those who take time out of their day to pop in and leave me comments.

Postage Stamps
Hi everyone, another busy day today! I finally got to bed at 2 a.m. after dipping and rolling all the jelly cakes and then was up at about 6.45 a.m. as hubby had to go to work and I needed to whip the cream, split the cakes and fill them with cream. Off to church, then I delivered the cakes. I made the mistake of wearing new shoes to church and had to walk a fair distance to drop off the cakes. By the time I got back to my car I had rubbed both sides of my feet and caused the skin to tear, so am walking around with bandaids and very sore feet!
I got home from doing that and straight into moving furniture etc to make room for our son to move his belongings back in, I then had to put all my craft away as family came for tea and picked names for their Secret Santa gifts. So I haven't hardly been off my feet for two days and my knees have gone kaput!!
So... I've not had time to do any crafting at all and am so tired I am heading off to bed shortly. I thought I would share one of my cards from last year that I sent off as a swap card. I cut an aperture of Australia into my card and then used Australia postage stamps to fill it in as the theme was postage stamps. I've also included four ATC's that I made for another swap which had an oriental theme.
Hope you find them interesting,

Oriental Girl
Good evening, wow, another post well before midnight! I didn't go to craft today, my friend rang just as I was going out the door with my crates of crafting bits and pieces to tell me not to come as she was the only one there and a road gang had closed the road off to lay bitumin so I wouldn't be able to get there and even if I could, it is horrible to drive on after it has been laid and I have a white car too. So, stayed at home doing some crafting and catching up on a couple of DVD's that I had borrowed and need to take back - one was the "King's Speech". Mum lent it to me about 2 weeks ago - not a bad film.
The rain came back today after yesterday's sunshine and it has rained most of the afternoon and there are still some showers now to.
So.... here is my card for today,
The basecard is a bluey/green from stash. I also found this lovely DSP that matches it - also in my stash. I stamped the little oriental girl in Basic Brown and coloured her with Marvy Markers and Copics for the skin tone. I used Real Red to stamp the sentiment and sponged aroung the edges. I added a couple of embossed lines at the top and then put some straight border stickers in between.
Well, that's me for tonight, hope you have enjoyed your day and thanks for stopping by,
Take care,
Sandy

Beautiful - Oriental Woman
Well the weekend has nearly finished - close to midnight here, We've had a cold, rainy day and I've had my 3 grandchildren this afternoon until about 7 p.m. Unfortunately the eldest, Amelia, was running a temperature, but the two girls still managed to watch a DVD while I fed their little brother, changed him and got him back to sleep. He was very easy to look after!
After they went home about 8 p.m., I managed to get this card finished. It's on a black basecard, with a pink matte and then a gorgeous piece of paper that my friend, Joyce, gave me for my birthday. The image was stamped on white card and coloured with Real Red Ink and all the flowers etc were coloured with Jelly Roll Pens and look quite sparkly even though that doesn't show up here in the scan well. I tried to colour the flowers with the colours that were in the fans in the background paper. I cut her out and mounted onto a pink Nestie die cut, added the sentiment "Beautiful" also in Real Red and did the "Happy Birthday" onto pink card cut it out with a circle punch, matted with black circle as well and then glitzed it up with lots of bling
Well here it is, I'm going to enter it into the Make It Monday linky party challenge tomorrow.
Hope you have a great week,
Take care,
Sandy

Out for a stroll
It's Saturday and just about ready to go to my friend's house for our Saturday craft get together. I'm taking my cards with me today, we usually bead, but lately have been doing our own thing, but it is really good to see each other and talk and eat!We have afternoon tea on the table whilst we are crafting LOL.
The card I made this morning is again using the same paper as my last card, this time I've used it as an accent by cutting it out as a circle and using this sweet Magnolia girl in a kimono and twirling her umbrella. It's mounted on an ivory cardstock (SU) and then onto a brown base card. I finished it off with a "Beautiful" stamp from SU "Eastern Influences" and using choc chip ink. I decided no bling this time either, just clean and simple.
Thanks for popping in, I hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Little Oriental Girl
Here is the card I made late, late, late last night! I found this lovely oriental style scrapbook paper yesterday and decided it would look just right with the little oriental girl (another image that I stamped and coloured last year) I've embellished the card with the stamped fan and lots of amber coloured bling on some of the blossoms. The base card is SU Naturals Ivory, so have again backed it for scanning purposes only to emphasize the edges of the card.
I've been busy doing paper embroidery today, so should have a few cards to share later in the week - some will be Christmas to go towards the stash and also Shirley's Challenge
So here it is - hope it appeals to you, I do like oriental cards and have several stamps, but don't always think to use them,
Bye,
Sandy
