Novembering

I can hardly believe it's already November 12th as I type this, almost half-way through the month. It's crazy, how quickly we're barrelling toward the holiday season and a new year.

It's dark, dismal, windy and pouring rain today, but until now we've had [mostly] lovely weather, more like October than November.

I haven't much beyond the daily routine to share, though friends R & C did pop up last Sunday for a visit, which was wonderful. I had two small boxes and one large bag of donations, which we dropped off at Talize, and C changed out a couple of light switches for me, which was much appreciated.

Then I had Monday off and tackled the huge stack of empty boxes in my garage, cutting them up for recycling. During the process I came across a number of things I had stored there years ago and forgotten about, so now I have a few more boxes to be donated. LOL.

Oh, this does remind that two weekends ago I actually went to Value Village, hadn't been in quite a while. I was looking for some fleece pullovers (not zip-up) and while those were in short supply, I did find two winter sweaters. However, I was aghast to see the huge jump in most of their prices! They had sweaters for $17 and $19, winter jackets for $30 and $33 (those that I looked at). Ridiculous! You can buy brand new merchandise at an end-of-season clearance for about the same price. I left feeling that there really would be no reason for me to return, at least not for clothing. (BTW, the sweaters I bought were $10.50 each; they would have been about $8 the last time I was in the store.)

Work is work and I'm counting down the number of [working] days until our holiday break: twenty-six for me, taking into account a few days off to use up vacation that I can't carry over into the new year. That seems like a lot, but they will pass quickly, as will our break!

In the meantime, I'll just do my best to stay out of trouble (haha) and will dream of early retirement.  :-P

Take care and stay well, everyone. Peace.

Derry looks as if he wants you retired now, even if you are working from home. Bet is a good feeling to have things removed for charity with your friends. And now you've discovered more goodies to sort, lol. The photo of the red maple is just glorious. I used to shop for clothing at consignment stores back in the day of working. Good choice then, but I don't know if it is today. I'm just not a jeans and stretchy pants person. And I would like to have some lovely blouses, but only pull over things seem to be the stuff of today. Your 26 days may fly by, but I hope the time off crawls at a snails pace. Lynn and Precious

The autumn has been pleasant here, too, but now the temperatures are dropping, and we may get more snow soon. What we had disappeared in a chinook. The year is nearly over, and it seemed just to have begun…
Dearest Kim,
Derry gives the perfect 'relaxing' example as how to go through life.
Enjoying the cozy moments and also enjoying food and cuddles, not really in that sequence though!
Can't believe we're here either, November 12... Hard to keep up with it all.
Our kitties were in hiding again as we had for 2 days the painters downstairs in the Rose Suite.
Tiny Tiggy Tiger girl loves to get into the drawer, pulling herself up on the inside of that desk... and hide whenever she hears male voices! Poor girl... Managed to get her out by holding a treat out as she came down.
Coming week the pressure washing will start and then the exterior painting.
Will be glad when December comes around and finally start to enjoy a more normal, routine life!
Big hugs,
Mariette

Oh Handsome Derry you remind me so much of my Mr.Jinx. It sounds like things have been going pretty well and I'm glad. The autumnal photos are gorgeous as is Derry!
November has kicked off well, Derry is quite handsome, just saying
We still have plenty of boxes with "stuff" we've not looked at in forever, I hate to think what's in those. Your tree photos are so pretty, ours aren't totally colorful yet. Derry sure looks happy! Hey, I retired 3 years early, I highly recommend retirement LOL!

We still have boxes of stuff We never unpacked after moving to our "new" apartment 7 years ago (mol).
Autumn here, too, doesn't seem to want to arrive. The nights can be chilly but daytime temperatures are still in the 20s (Celsius).
Your photos are MAGNIFICENT! What is that flaming red tree at the top? Is it a maple? What are the other ones?
And Derry is looking very handsome!

That STUFF! Mom has worked to keep it pared down, and it keeps piling back UP! Now, the closets need to be thinned out. Again!

Life in a small studio rather forces one to do "consolidate" often; sort of a buy one, dispose of two philosophy. Plus the older I become, the less I need or want ... shopping is limited to consignment and thrift stores (whose prices, yes, have risen), it is where I find quality still which is lacking is newer products, especially clothing. On another note, your seasonal colors are spectacular, to
our dull ones this year ... enjoy!

The photos of the fall colors are spectacular! We have very few trees that turn red, mostly orange and yellow, so seeing those are definitely a treat.

I agree the prices at VV have risen, especially on clothing. Luckily our Salvation Army thrift store still has reasonable prices as Eli continues to grow....silly kid. :) Like you, I've got a box or two that need to be dropped off at the thrift store. I think I'll go to S.A. this time with them.

Handsome Derry! What a sweet face.

Take care, stay well.

Yes, we were commenting just today that it can't possibly be the middle of November already. But yet it is. What a super handsome photo of super handsome Derry. Looks like you are having a beautiful fall there, too. It's been one to remember here! Hugs to you both!
