Obnoxious
The character, plot everything about her is bad.
And then we have Taylor... initially just funny how him and Luke went at it, but then damn you made it annoying. Being in fictive societies that apparently can rule legal things (dumb american joke?) makes no sense.
Oh and some honorary mentions to Lane's mom, no words and Lorelay's mom which is just ... hurts my brain.
It's quite hard to find an enjoyable person in this whole garbage of a show.. Luke might be the only one.
2 seasons would've been more than enough.
Dean vs. Jess, Harvard vs. Yale 👀
Dean and Jess are Rory's quintessential teenage loves. They're like training wheels for the emotional Tour de France that is life. Dean is the classic first boyfriend: sweet, dependable, and... well, let's say uncomplicated. Jess, on the other hand, brings a bit more chaos and intellectual sparring to the table-a brooding, troubled type who's more likely to quote Kerouac than fix a shelf without sulking. Both are formative, both are flawed, and neither is her forever person. And that's fine! Nobody ruins their life by breaking up with their 16-year-old sweetheart. These relationships aren't the staircase of life; they're the first wobbly step, and that's exactly as it should be. Rory's world is expanding, and she's growing into the kind of person who will inevitably outgrow Stars Hollow's orbit-and its boys, too.
Now, on to the Yale vs. Harvard debate. Suggesting Rory made a "bad choice" by picking Yale over Harvard is like arguing whether it's better to play for Real Madrid or FC Barcelona. They're both elite, top-tier institutions with global prestige-nobody's going to roll their eyes at either diploma. If there's a contest, it's symbolic, not substantial. Whether it's Harvard's aura of tradition or Yale's secret societies whispering conspiracies into the night, both are breeding grounds for future presidents and overachievers.
Rory's decision, however, is deeply personal and entirely in character. Yale offers her something Harvard doesn't: proximity to home and a chance to honor her grandparents' legacy. While Lorelai scoffs at this, it's a meaningful factor for Rory, who values family ties even when they come with the strings of Friday night dinners. Let's not forget the practicality: weekly road trips from Massachusetts to Hartford for roast beef and side-eye? Hard pass.
Ultimately, the heart of the matter-whether in choosing a boyfriend or a university-is evolution. What you need at 16 isn't what you need at 18, and what you dream of at 18 isn't where you'll land at 30. Life isn't about finding the perfect path from the start; it's about adapting, learning, and sometimes, yes, driving a beat-up Jeep back to your grandparents' house because tradition and practicality can coexist.
So let's give Rory a break. She's navigating her first loves, her Ivy League dreams, and the intricate politics of Stars Hollow-and doing it all with a level of grace and wit most of us could only aspire to. Whether she's sparring with Jess, saying goodbye to Dean, or choosing Yale over Harvard, she's figuring it out as she goes. And isn't that what growing up is all about?

- TriviaDean goes to Southern Connecticut which is located in New Haven. Yale is also located in New Haven. He and Rory are technically always near each other, but it's never mentioned.
- GoofsWhen Dean and his friends enter Luke's Diner during Dean's bachelor party, Dean's friend Kyle is wearing a Navy uniform. According to his uniform, he is a Petty Officer 2nd class with 8 years of service. Since he is schoolmates with Dean and had just graduated high school a few months prior, it is impossible for him to have been in the military longer than a few months.

Zack Van Gerbig: No true rock 'n' roller goes to college!
Rory Gilmore: Mick Jagger went to the London School of Economics.
Zack Van Gerbig: What?
Rory Gilmore: Yeah, and, uh, Dexter Holland of The Offspring got his PhD in molecular biology at USC. Greg Ginn of Black Flag graduated from UCLA. The guy from Bad Religion got his masters in geology from UCLA, and he's working on his PhD in evolutionary biology at Cornell.
