My Favourite Episode,
Homer decides to try a different drink on a Friday night, but after getting too drunk he is forced to walk home.He gets lost in a forrest and is convinced he saw an alien. He gets the FBI to help investigate what he saw. However,no one in Springfield believes him.
So many classic gags
I think the spooky factor could have been more but its a tone choice that doesn't in any way hurt the episode.
I like how while homer is gullible, he eventually catches on that people are making fun of him or pulling his leg.
Well then, goodnight!
This is a classic episode with a great tribute to The X Files.
If you are a fan of the parodied show you will probably love The Springfield Files. The writers use the deadpan X Files characters as a foil for the crazy humour of the Springfield residents and make it feel like one of Mulder and Scully's episodic adventures.
The humour is prolific, with a constant stream of sight gags and verbal punchlines. My favourite moment is when Homer and Marge are chatting in bed together and he takes umbrage to her not believing his story.
Guest voice performers David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and in particular Leonard Nimoy are excellent.
I don't think every single punchline lands, which for me is why it falls just shy of perfect at 9.5/10, but I round upwards.
Oh my god

- TriviaFor Mulder's rambling about the truth, the crew just left the microphone on and let David Duchovny ramble about whatever he wanted. He went on for two hours before he ran out of steam.
- GoofsMr. Burns gets a second shot from Dr. Nick Riviera even though he had just been shot minutes ago.
- Quotes
Alien: I bring you love.
Lenny: It's bringing love, don't let it get away!
Carl: Break its legs.
[everyone starts to advance on the alien]
Lisa: Wait! You want an alien? This is your alien.
[Shines torch on alien to reveal Mr. Burns in a twisted and disoriented state]
Mr. Burns: [in a high-toned voice] Hello, children. I bring you love.
Willy: Argh. It's a monster. Kill it, kill it!
Smithers: It's not a monster, it's Mr. Burns!
Willy: Aww, it's Mr. Burns! KILL IT! KILL IT!
- Alternate versionsThe syndicated version shortens the opening title sequence, also cuts out the scene where Milhouse has to deposit 40 quarters to play an arcade game, and shortens the scene with Homer running through the woods by cutting out Homer going past an owl.
