Just another site that's giving you hard to find music

A Place To Find Some Rarer Tunes (Mod, PowerPop, Punk, Ska) ripped from my vinyl collection. If it sounds good I'll post it. The idea being that now you know about them, you can seek them out! If anyone is unhappy about any of these posts please contact me & I will take them off.

Les Playboys - Loup-Garou EP (1982)

Les Playboys - Loup-Garou EP (1982)

A1 - Loup-Garou
A2 - Je Perds Mon Temps
B1 - Le Roi Des Fous
B2 - L'Homme De Tanger

Great 60's Beat / Garage from this French (Nice) Mod Band

François Albertini (Voc)
Michel Nègre (Guitar/Keys)
Frederic Martinez (Guitar)
Franck Durban (Bass)
Philippe "Fifi" Lejeune (R.I.P. 1990)(Drums)

From the Ashes of "High School Friends" Punk Band "Dentists" (1976-79)[Members being : François Albertini (V), Jean-Marc Seni (G),Pierre Nègre (G), Frank Durban (B), Philippe Lejeune (D)] arose Les Playboys (1980 -) with their particular brand of 60's Garage Rock.

As they are still playing, I'll leave it to you to read about them but...

Useless info 1 - They used to have a group of 8 "60's Go-Go Girls" called "Ginettes" (Chicks in English) backing them on stage

Uselss Info 2 - François Albertini once stood in for Vocal duties at a Fleshtones Gig as Peter Zaremba
was stuck in Mexico due to an airline strike.

I've also included their 2nd 45 in the d/load

Le Fracàs - Quelle Joie D'etre Riche (1983)

A1 - Quelle Joie D'être Riche
A2 - De Coeur En Coeur
B1 - Quelque Chose En Moi
B2 - L'heure De La Revanche

As the posts have been a little Anglo-centric lately I thought it time to leave our fair Isles and pop over the Channel to France - (Orange, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur to be precise.)

Here's some great Mod Pop from

Marcel Eychenne (Voc, Guitar)
B. Eychenne (Voc, Bass)
P. Barbero (Drums)

Unfortunately I can't tell you much about the band. From what I've been able to peice together from the scant info on the net, this incarnation seem to have been around from 1981 - 84.
There was an earlier formation (1978 - 81) Marc Damien  (Guitar), Alain Fabien (Guitar)‏,  Marcel Eychenne (Guitar), Denis Eyraus (Bass), Pierre Viaud (Drums)
who had a track‏ (Nous En Avons Marre - also in the D/L) on the Various Artists LP  125 grammes de 33 1/3 tours & later the track was included on the Killed by Death 007 compilation.

If anyone knows any better please leave a comment

Oenix - Ils Veulent Coucher Avec Sheila (1980)

b/w -Melodie Qui Sonne

1st of only 2 releases for this Rouen 4 piece.

Anne-Marie Monville (voc)
Richard Alexandre (guitar)
William Foyé
Alain Mercier

This is a cool punk / powerpop tune that was privately released on the Ponce Pilate label & was aledgedly so disgusting that it had to be censored & re-released on Virgin. (both versions are in the download) Depending on what you want to believe this could be true or just a bit of "Branson Hype"

Saying that, if your French is any good you will note that the lyrics are a bit risky for the early 80's

BTW - I'm presuming as the tune has a 60's "ye ye" feel to it that they are refering to the 60's icon Sheila (Bit of A guilty pleasure this song)

Bijou - La Fille Du Pere Noel (1977)

b/w - Dynarock (Instrumental)

Excellent Tunes from this French (Parisian) band who had a similar sound to Dr Feelgood & The Flamin Groovies

The A side (the Daughter of Santa Claus) is a cover originally done by Jaques Dutronc

They were

Vincent Palmer (voc guitar)
Phillipe Dauga (voc bass)
Joel "Dynamite" Yan (drums voc)

Go here to watch some bad miming to this song.

This was their 1st 45 (apparently, the band wanted their 1st release to be "C'est Un Animal/Dynorock" - & there are promo copies out there to prove this)
If you want to know more about the band (they have made some great music) go here - most of you will need the aid of google translate as it's in French (obviously)

Roxette - Natacha (1982)

b/w - Tout, tout, tout

1st of (I think only) 2 45 releases

(the 2nd being "un jour / ciao ciao" on Tarass records, 1986)

This should be well known to most as it's been comped on shake some action vol6 & powerpearls vol6

I just thought it was time the b-side was heard as well

(If you want to "hear" the "shake some action" volumes follow this thread

http://forums.hipinion.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=659&start=30

there's also loads of other goodies to be had, from some very kind people)

Rhubarb - rhubarb ep (1979)

A1 - Millions of people
A2 - Time is the enemy
B1 - Jimmy's Mother
B2 - Broken image

Here's an interesting mod/punk ep from France, giving various tunes (Jimmy's mother being the best to my ears)

This is the sole release for Rhubarb, who seem to consist of 3 Frenchmen & 1 Englishman (I think you should be able to work out who is what)

Jacques Carrio (Voc)
Pierre Fogli (Guitar, Voc)
Jean-Pierre Levy (Bass)
John Townsend (drums, Voc)
