Football

I have never been interested in football and what little I know about the game could be printed on a postage stamp, with room to spare. So it came as quite a surprise to find myself in the pub watching the Lionesses play Spain in the Euro 2025 final.
Along with some friends and lots of ardent football fans we cheered the girls to victory after a penalty shootout. Occasionally a friend had to explain what was happening!

Whilst I did enjoy the match and felt tremendous pride for the team I don't think I will become a fan, but might watch key matches in future.

  1. Nice that the Lionesses won. I must confess, however, that for me, watching soccer/football is like watching grass grow. Too slow and dull in between rare bursts of excitement.

    1. About three quarters of the way through I did say to a friend that I was getting bored!

  2. That pretty much sums up how I feel about football, Polly. We did watch the penalty shoot-out - AFTER the event! The women are much better at the game than the men, though.

  3. Not a fan either. Started watching the semi-final but got bored and went to bed. The final was a bit more interesting as Spain looked sure to win.

  6. It is super cool that you watched the Lionesses win the Euro 2025 final, even if you are not usually a football fan. It must have been so exciting to cheer them on to victory.

  7. Hi Polly, I can definitely relate! I am not a football fan, either. I also am not a fan of baseball, hockey or just about any other sport. However, I do love bowling....most likely because I understand the game and I have bowled myself in my younger years. :) Thanks for sharing.
