I made a card for this challenge featuring one of Tim's wonderful stencils.

Distress spray stain, Decoart paints (the flower is stamped on a Gelli print), Tim Holtz stencil, stamps are: Tim Holtz, Crafters Companion, Bo Bunny and the little bird is a Tim Holtz punch.

Thats Crafty! Challenge - Under the Sea

Hello everyone,


Yes that's another fortnight gone so time for another challenge over at Thats Crafty! and this time the theme is: Under the Sea.

So we'd love to see mermaids, seahorses, fish etc or whatever you consider to be part of the sea.

Don't forget in this challenge, as always, there's a chance to win a rather fab £20 voucher to spend online in the shop, they have lots of new, exciting crafty goodies at the moment....I just checked for research purposes of course!

I think this is a really lovely theme and enjoyed doing my mermaid for it...on wood of course!

Mixed Media World - Gorgeous Textures

Hello everyone,

Time for another monthly challenge over at Mixed Media World and the theme for this month is:
Gorgeous Textures.

So, we'd love to see all your wonderful textured creations. Remember that you can add textures in lots of different ways: paint, Gesso, texture paste, beads, hessian, twine....the list is endless!


For this challenge we are being sponsored by:

For this challenge, I took my beloved wood and set about adding texture to that.

The texture was achieved using all Decoart products and blasted with a heat gun before they air dried to get the 'bubbled up' effect. If you want the crackle glaze and paste to crackle DO NOT heat with the heat gun first as this will destroy the crackle effect but I wanted this blistered bubbled effect so it was okay ;)

Decoart Paints, Decoart Crackle Glaze, Decoart Crackle Paste, Crafters Companion stamps, Tim Holtz embellishments, rusty wire and a rusty washer.

Where the Magic is.........

I'm seriously thinking I need a light tent....yes even in Summer! This really must be one of the dullest Summer's here in the South of the UK which makes picture taking challenging to say the least!

I must just say a big thank you for all the kind comments that are left on my blog, I know its not always easy to get around to all the blogs we follow so I'm really grateful that you do ;)

Today's creation is done on wood. I love this Jane Davenport face stencil as even though I love to draw my own faces this is a time saver as drawing faces can take ages!

UPDATE:

I've had a few questions about how this was achieved. The background is just simply paint brayered on until you get the colour you want.

Re the stencilling effects, scrape the Decoart modelling paste through the stencils, allow to dry and then apply the Gelatos to the modelling paste. As the paste is so smooth it takes the Gelatos beautifully and allows you to blend the colours together.

The paint runs were just achieved by spraying the Decoart Mixed Media misters and allowing to run down the wood.

Amaze Me

For once, today is a sunny day so a hot day = hot colours.....so here you have hot colours!!
