Isaiah 65 (KJV)

1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;




5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.




6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense (repay), even recompense (repay) into their bosom,
7 Your iniquities (wickedness), and the iniquities (wickedness) of your fathers together, saith the Lord, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed (speak irreverently about God or sacred things.)  me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
8 Thus saith the Lord, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

Matthew 12 (KJV)

10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
14 Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

Unless you are working on something wicked or illegal, it is okay to work a job or do any labor on the Sabbath.  As long as it is righteous, no worries ~ Karmen



31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy (the act or offense of speaking sacrilegiously about God or sacred things; profane talk., Cursing God.) shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.



33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

2 Timothy 3 (KJV)

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous (full of danger or risk.) times shall come.




2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous (having or showing a great desire to possess something, typically something belonging to someone else.), boasters, proud, blasphemers (To speak of (God or a sacred entity) in an irreverent, impious manner.)  disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers (One who violates a truce, covenant, or engagement.), false accusers, incontinent (lacking self-restraint; uncontrolled.), fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady (unstable), highminded (having or showing high, exalted principles or feelings.), lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers (many) lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.



16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof (judging righteously), for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Acts 13 (KJV)

6 And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:
7 Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent (political) man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
9 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.



10 And said, O full of all subtilty (preciseness) and all mischief (misconduct), thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
12 Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.



43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.




47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout (having or showing deep religious feeling or commitment.)
and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution (hostility and ill-treatment, esp. because of race or political or religious beliefs.) against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

Hymenaeus




1 Timothy 1 (KJV)
19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck (a cast away):
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme (speak irreverently about God or sacred things.) .

Denial of the resurrection

Hymenaeus and Philetus are included among persons whose profane (foul) and vain (arrogant) babblings (gossip) will increase towards more ungodliness, and whose teaching "will spread as a cancer" (2 Tim 2:17, And their word will eat as doth a canker ( an erosive or spreading sore) : of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;).

The apostle declares that Hymenaeus and Philetus are examples of those just described, and he adds that those two persons "concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already, and overthrow the faith of some." Then, for the guidance of Timothy, he goes on to say the seal upon the foundation of God is, "The LORD knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the LORD must turn away from evil" (2 Tim 2:19, Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity [wickedness].)

The inference intended is, that though Hymenaeus and Philetus had professed their faith in Christ, they did not turn away from evil. There is no doubt in regard to the identity of this Hymenaeus with the person of the same name in 1 Tim. Accordingly, the facts mentioned in the two epistles must be placed in the following order: That though Hymenaeus had, made a public and Christian profession of faith in Christ, yet he had,
not turned away from evil, but by his profane teaching, went towards more ungodliness. This led to, his abandoning his faith and a good conscience, thus he brought about, the end result of his faith being shipwrecked.

The error, therefore, of Hymenaeus and his two companions would amount to this: They taught that "the resurrection is past already," circa 50AD–65AD, and that there would be no future resurrection, but that all that resurrection means is that the soul awakes from sin. This teaching of Hymenaeus had been so far successful: it had "overthrown the faith of some" (2 Tim 2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.)


Incipient Gnosticism

It Is impossible to define exactly the full nature of this heresy, but from what Paul says regarding it, Hymenaeus and Philetus may have believed in an early form of the Christian disbelief of Gnosticism. This awakening from sin had taken place with themselves, so the Gnostics held, and therefore there could be no day in the future when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and shall come forth from the grave (John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,).

This spiritualizing of the resurrection sprang from the idea of the necessarily evil nature of all material substance. This idea immediately led to the conclusion of the essentially evil nature of the human body, and that if man is to rise to his true nature, he must rid himself of the bondage, not of sin, but of the body. This contempt for the body led to the denial of the resurrection in its literal sense; and all that Christ had taught on the subject was explained only, in an allegorical sense, of the resurrection of the soul from sin.

Delivered unto Satan

The way in which the apostle dealt with these teachers, Hymenaeus and his companions, was not merely in the renewed assertion of the truth which they denied, but also by passing sentence upon these teachers—"whom I delivered unto Satan, that they might be taught not to blaspheme." In regard to the meaning of this sentence much difficulty of interpretation exists. Some understand it to mean simple excommunication from the church. Others take it to signify the infliction of some bodily suffering or disease. It seems that a person who was delivered unto Satan was cut off from all Christian privileges, he was "put away" from the body of Christian believers, and handed over to "the Satan," the Evil One in his most distinct personality
1 Corinthians 5 (KJV),  the cases of Ananias and Sapphira Acts 5 (KJV), and of Elymas (Acts 13:11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.).

The intention of the punishment was distinctly remedial. Both in the case of Hymenaeus and Alexander, and in that of the person dealt with in 1 Corinthians 5 (KJV), the intention was the attaining of an ultimate good. It is "for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." Similarly, Hymenaeus and Alexander are delivered unto Satan, not for their final perdition (loss of the soul), but that they may be taught, through this terrible discipline, not to blaspheme.

Colossians 3 (KJV)

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.




3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.




5 Mortify (humiliate) therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate (unreasonable) affection, evil concupiscence (lust), and covetousness (feeling or showing a very strong desire for something that you do not have and especially for something that belongs to someone else), which is idolatry:
6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.




9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:




12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering (uncomplaining, high tolerance);
13 Forbearing (patient and restrained) one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.




14 And above all these things put on charity (love), which is the bond of perfectness.




15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.




16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing (warn or reprimand someone firmly.) one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.




17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.





18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.




20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.



21 Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.




22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice (people pleasing), as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.




25 But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect (favoritism) of persons.



Humbling! Am a work in progress.  Instantly challenged on. It's hard to live with someone who is not living for God. He does his best. He is a kind and generous person. My patience and gentleness is tried each day and I am being challenged non-stop. While I am still here in this house, I see my purpose.

Sometimes God will put people in our lives to teach us how to be gentle, peaceful and patient. Those are the gifts my friend, whom I live with has. Maybe that is why I am still here. Not to get 100%, but to get a passing grade. A grade that God has set up for me to get. ~ Karmen

Titus 2 (KJV)

1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
2 That the aged men be sober (clear-headed), grave (dignified), temperate (pleasant), sound in faith, in charity, in patience.




3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach the young women to be sober (clear-headed), to love their husbands, to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste (neat), keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed (speak irreverently about God or sacred things.).



6 Young men likewise exhort (advise) to be sober (clear-headed) minded.
7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.




9 Exhort (advise) servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10 Not purloining (cheating), but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.




11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly (clear-headed), righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Pharisees

( lowercase ) a sanctimonious, self-righteous, or hypocritical person.


A Pharisee is basically someone who does not practice what they preach, but hold everyone else accountable in practicing what they preach.  Blasphemers.

2 Saying The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

(Pharisees talk about the law, but don't practice it)
4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
14 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.
