snac.daltux.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
The next week will be dedicated to #Fedilab fixes and enhancements. Libraries also need to be updated for 16KB page size compliance.

#Fedilab is now 9 years old. Thank you to all the people who contributed and keep contributing to the project. Old users know it was called Mastalab. Thank you so much for your trust and support.

Ten days ago, I asked for help with the server hosting #Fedilab, #HolosSocial, #HolosDiscover and more.
After comparing several options, I went with a dedicated server from #Hetzner. It's slightly above what I had in mind but much better suited for the load and future growth.
Specs for the curious: https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/ex44/
Migration is underway.
Thanks to everyone who donated or shared. It means a lot 🙏
AodeRelay boostedI need help with the server hosting all my open-source projects: #Fedilab, #HolosSocial, #HolosDiscover, and more.
The current server costs €350/year but is no longer suited for the load. I often run out of disk space. I need to migrate to a more powerful one with expandable storage. Renewal is due in a few days.
I have set a goal of €500 on Ko-fi, cost unknown.Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/tom79

#Fedilab 3.37.2 has been published. It should be the last fixes with the "reverse" timeline.

Did you know that crash reports sent to #Fedilab through emails have been significantly reduced for the last few updates? Thank you for sending them, they are really useful and they have contributed to fixes in the repo.
Don't hesitate to contribute by enabling crash reports in Settings > Interface > Enable crash reports.

#Fedilab 3.37.1 has been published. This release fixes bad behavior with reverse (aka normal) timelines. Also, if you filter links, the app will also check those embedded in href tags. Reported bugs have also been fixed.
More: https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases/tag/3.37.1
Something important to understand with #Fedilab and remote timelines, conversations and threads. This feature uses the public API of remote instances, that means there is no direct interaction between your account (token) and the remote instances when messages or accounts are displayed.
This is only when you decide to interact that the app will apply the appropriate actions in the background.
That's why it is impossible to apply your moderation rules (muted/blocked accounts remain visible).
It seems that the reverse timeline is something that meets a lot of expectations. Since the last release, a lot of bugs/enhancements have been reported for this new feature. The goal will be to have #Fedilab 3.37.1 working nicely with the reverse timeline.
Thank you for all your reports.
RE: https://chaos.social/@joergi/113953474573664748
tl;dr: following an instance
I wrote here how to follow a complete instance timeline via @apps , which is for me an absolute killer feature.
Has any other app like @Tusky @IceCubesApp or @ivory this feature?
If yes please add it to the original thread, thank you.
On the official @Mastodon app I haven't seen this feature.
Do you have any tips for this @FediTips please link it too,thx

Did you know that #Fedilab turns 9 next month? Nine years built with your support, your feedback, and your ideas. This app has always been a collective effort and that will not change. Thank you.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@HolosSocial/116190468800307674
We accepted these constraints for #Fedilab: donation links removed, Mastodon account registration disabled, and #PeerTube search results filtered. The rules are enforced by a bot: you receive a screenshot of what was flagged, and you either fix it or your app is rejected. We will not accept the same for #HolosSocial. Asking a #Fediverse app to moderate its content is like asking a browser to moderate the web.
#Fedilab release 3.37.0 includes several enhancements and fixes. You might encounter unexpected behaviors that were not caught during tests. Usually, a second release is quickly published to give the best UX. So don't hesitate to share troubles at https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/issues
#Fedilab 3.37.0 has been published.
What's new:
- Reverse timeline reading order
- Grouped notifications (API v2)
- Video player: volume slider and playback speed
- Pinned statuses carousel in profiles
- Fediverse creator support in link preview cards

but if I first click the original post to load It and then click antidote it goes to the correct one.
I made this video to make it a little bit more clear what I meant
2/2 #fedilab #FedilabBug
We noticed some positive feedback about #Fedilab being more reactive. Versions 3.36+ fix a bug for people using several filters on their timelines.
If you left the app due to this behavior, consider giving it a second try :)
RE: https://mastodon.social/@HolosSocial/116166995091607292
We will introduce the #HolosDiscover API in #Fedilab. It allows to tailor a timeline with up to 20 tags. It can be really useful for small instances.
However, unlike the #Holos app where posts from blocked or muted accounts are filtered out, Fedilab won't be able to apply these filters.
In the next release of #Holos, Bloom filters will be enabled by default (can be disabled). This allows the relay to deliver only activities that matter to you, without ever knowing who you follow. In practice, this reduces data transfer around 97%, since only about 3% of activities are typically relevant during a sync.
The public timeline is replaced by a discover timeline tailored to your interests.
✅ Fixed: the moved quoted button was the problem for me. I saw it now by accident.
----------
Does anyone else have issues doing quote posts with @apps ?
It always worked, but it's not working anymore.
I already deleted and reinstalled Fedilab.
I tried the official Mastodon app, and there it worked, so it's not a problem with my account.
Asking first here before filling out the bug report tomorrow.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@HolosSocial/116132897742156404
This is a feature that we will also bring to #Fedilab. Being able to automatically sync domain blocklists with your trusted sources.
This is how #Holos currently handles #E2EE DMs over #ActivityPub. Holos is a project we develop alongside #Fedilab.
RE: https://mastodon.social/@staff/115849914607258480
This is not a bug of #Fedilab if the local or public timelines are empty on mastodon.social.
We will check if we can detect through the API when timelines are disabled to avoid that bad UX.
In the next release of #Fedilab, the video player will be improved. You will be able to adjust the volume and playback speed.
#Fedilab remembers your position (and updates your Mastodon marker, so you can keep the same position between apps). Of course it has a limit when cache is enabled. If you have an active Home timeline, the app will remember your position but you might end up in a gap where many messages are no longer available on your instance. We introduced background Home retrieval while you don't use the app. It's not perfect but it helps. Otherwise, you can disable cache in settings.
#Holos will be available on #FDroid soon, and we hope to get more feedback to improve the project. While #Fedilab uses server APIs, here we can do much more to improve your #Fediverse experience with an #ActivityPub server running directly on your device. We already introduced E2EE DMs and personal identity. We will go further with automatic deletion, even at posting level. You decide the availability of a message. We will also work on interaction controls from #GoToSocial.
We will be working this week on #Fedilab 3.36.2, fixing reported issues and adding some enhancements.
We do check our bookmarked messages, but #Codeberg remains the best way to submit issues.
https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/issues
#Fedilab 3.36.1 has been published. Full release notes at https://codeberg.org/tom79/Fedilab/releases/tag/3.36.1
For #FDroid users, please wait a few days if you don't use our custom repo.
We put a lot of work into both #Fedilab and #HolosSocial. We will never neglect one for the other, both deserve attention. Holos allowed us to push boundaries like E2EE DMs over ActivityPub and portable identity, but Fedilab is the app we've been working on since 2017 and will keep integrating new features. This is your app, not ours. Alongside all this, we are volunteers, so if you can help us financially, that would really help. Thank you.
#Fedilab not playing some custom emojis or worse not displaying them at all will be fixed in the next release. Also, the issue with long messages being truncated at the top should be fixed too, along with some other older issues. We keep fixing them for 3.36.1
That reminds me: for users who want to enhance the photo viewing experience on top of a microblogging server like Akkoma, Sharkey, Snac, GoToSocial, or Mastodon,
#Fedilab already has a setting called "Pixelfed presentation for media". It would really be nice to see this kind of interface developed elsewhere as well.

Impedido de trabalhar e isto ficará salvo como rascunho no #Fedilab para publicar quando retornar à civilização.
Que tal privatizarmos as telecômicas? Opa, tarde demais...
Yes, #Fedilab has some differences between its Google Play version and its #FDroid version.
There are mostly due to restrictions from Google.
In the Google app we had to remove:
- Donation links
- Register an account on Mastodon (as they don't want to understand that the app doesn't collect emails).
- Filter some search results with #Peertube to exclude "YouTube Downloader" videos
To Google users, keep in mind you can easily switch to FDroid, we would be happy to help if you have questions

Maybe an old unknown feature of #Fedilab. In settings > Privacy you can enable an option to remove UTM parameters in URLs.
It will work for new messages but you can still clear the cache from the app.
