tn_2009-12-11 WritingI wrote in my notebook journal today. I keep on forgetting that I am trying to write in a paper journal. Obviously, I remember to write here on my blog well enough! Mom says that maybe we have to put the journal out where we see it so we remember better.  I think it is fun to write in the real journal, even if no one really reads it like this blog. I guess that’s the point to writing in  your own private journal.

Mom found Foster some pajamas, so now he’s all decked out like Milton, Robinson and I. We’re all snuggled up and protected against the chilly Wisconsin winter air. Foster was kind of worried about losing his comfortable overalls and shirt that he has been wearing for a while. Mom reassured him that he could wear them whenever he wanted to. tn_2009-12-11 FosterIt’s just much more comfy to lounge around in pajamas! I am a fan of fancy clothes on occasion, but I admit I am much more happy wearing my pajamas!

We are still enjoying the snow here. Technically, it’s going to get to above freezing later in the weekend, so the snow may not last. Granted, the weather forecasters are sometimes wrong, so who knows what is going to happen. I like the snow! It’s very Christmas-y and makes the cold seem more tolerable! Much more festive! Mom tells me that people don’t like the snow because of what it does to the roads when they drive—so I’m happy that I don’t drive so I don’t have to worry about those things!

Milton, Robinson, and I spend a lot of time sitting on the couch waiting for Mom to come home from work. We talk about different things—and yesterday we spent quite a bit of time talking about something that I mentioned in a previous post—cookies! My favorite cookies—mostly because they’re Mom’s favorite cookies—are double chocolate cookies. Robinson says that he likes molasses cookies, but he admits that it has a lot to do with the fact that he’s a horse—but a horse plushie and rarely gets molasses like most horses do. Milton likes plain chocolate chip cookies. Milton says that he is a simple bear and likes simple things. Do you like a certain kind of cookie?

Yesterday, I wrote in my journal. Mom thought that I could write in it more often, but things seem to have gotten in the way. We’ve obviously found enough time to post here, but not on the paper journal. But I guess it’s certainly not important enough to worry about how many times I write in the journal, just that I do!

Things have been pretty quiet around here. Mom did get an email back from that person who thought that one of my siblings might have been their bear. It turned out that it was a gentlemen—and did not seem to be very interested in the fact that Mom had found him a new bear on eBay. Mom’s mom—who we call Grandma—thinks that the gentlemen may have thought that Mom would have given Foster or I up to him!? Although he said that he would email Mom with any more news, he hasn’t—which adds to Mom and Grandma’s suspicions! Mom says that she would never give either of us up—she loves both of us way too much! I’m glad that we’re safe in our house with the doors locked. The idea that there are people out there who would take teddies away from their moms is really scary!tn_2009-06-27 Pilar_edited-1

Timber, our World Wildlife Foundation wolf, wants to send a hearty hello to Lunar, the WWF wolf of our new online friend, neoguest1.  The newest post on their blog is about Build-A-Bear brown sugar puppies. We have a brown sugar puppy living here with us. Her name is Pilar. She doesn’t quite look like the puppies that are in the picture. Mom rescued Pilar from Goodwill in December of 2008, so she doesn’t know when she was made or anything like that. Pilar says that she would like to meet other brown sugar puppies online and is glad that our new friend found my blog.

Another one of our friends on our blog asked how many Build-a-Bear friends live here. Mom says that there a lot of Build-a-Bears living here. In the beginning, Mom only bought them from the BAB store, so there were only maybe a dozen. There was Robinson, Chloe, Fleur, Shirley, Charlotte and Milton. But then Mom discovered the fact that there are BAB plushies at Goodwill and our hug has skyrocketed! She probably still buys a few at the BAB store—like Timber or Snow, but most of the new friends are rescued from Goodwill.

Mom says that it is getting near bedtime. We’ve got Mom’s company all weekend, so maybe we’ll have some adventures. It all depends on the weather! No one wants to go out if it’s raining or snowing!

tn_2009-09-18 Marlowe and Milton_edited-1Fall is in the air here in Wisconsin. It is not supposed to get over 70 degrees Fahrenheit for the next couple of days. I like colder weather—many more cuddles that way under lots of blankets. I love sitting under lots of blankets! It’s so nice and toasty warm. Granted, I don’t mind summer because that means that we can go outside and garden! I guess I do like most seasons of the year, because I can think of good things about spring and winter too.

A new friend of mine, Bob T. Bear, posted a comment on my last post with an idea about keeping a tally of different things in my new journal. This led Milton and I to thinking about things that happened around here with enough regularity that I could keep track of them.

  • Mom loses TV remote and has to spend ten minutes looking for it.
  • The number of times that the dog climbs on the couch and then gets off.
  • The number of times that the dog unplugs something related to the computer when she walks past.
  • The dog wants to go outside.
  • The number of times that Mom checks her Facebook, Twitter, LiveJournal, and email in one day.
  • How many books Mom brings home. (We wish this would happen more often.)
  • The number of times that we watch Good Eats with Alton Brown—it’s our favorite TV show.
  • The number of cans of Coca-Cola Mom drinks in one day.

I’m sure that we’ll come up with some more things to think about. Mom also spotted some Iron Man stickers at Target the last time she went, so maybe she’ll buy those for me and I can decorate my journal too. Mom’s got all sorts of scrapbooking things around here, so I’m sure that I can make it really spiffy. Or maybe I should go with the incognito look—maybe no one will think it’s anything important. I will have to decide.

tn_2009-09-16 Marlowe and his Journal (4)_edited-1 I have some exciting news today! Mom went shopping today and came back with a journal, just my size! She says that I can write in it instead of posting on here—I sometimes have something to say, but don’t want to post it since it’s just a little thought! I can’t say that I have anything to write that’s too private to post on here, but I do have plenty of little bear-thoughts that I don’t want to bother you all with! So now I can have my very own book to write in. They came in packs of two, so I have another one for whatever I want. Mom says that writing my school-work in it would be a good idea. (I write it on pieces of loose leaf paper now.)tn_2009-09-16 Marlowe and his Journal (2)_edited-1 I think it would be cool to see the progress that I make throughout the school year. Mom says that I will soon be able to start writing things in cursive. I am sure that there will be a big difference between my first attempts and after a couple pages of practice.

I had trouble thinking of what to say, but once I started, words came quickly! It didn’t take me very long to fill the entire page. Mom had to help me spell a few words. I didn’t make any mistakes though that we had to go after and fix. I still think I will write it in pencil. It’s much neater when you have to worry about your fur getting dirty. I don’t want to have to wash my hands after every time I want to write in my journal. Ink spots are unsightly!tn_2009-09-16 Marlowe and his Journal (3)_edited-1

I don’t know if I should hide my journal. I don’t think I have anything that I don’t want my siblings and friends to read, but it would still be strange if I found out that anyone read it! Do you think I should hide it somewhere? There are plenty of hiding places around here. Robinson, who is my best friend, says that I should hide it. He says that I should hide it so no one can write in it. He says that all that blank paper would be too tempting!

I was thinking about having a travel journal—sort of like a travel teddy. I could write something in one that talked about where I lived and what happens around here. And then I could mail it to a new teddy and they could write something in it about where they live. There were plenty more of them at the place that Mom bought mine—or we could use a bigger notebook so it would be easier for the humans who have to help us write in them. Or maybe a blank book from the place that Mom works. Do you think that this is a good idea?
