[Interview] Dave Taylor - Yes, of Dave Taylor Miniatures.

MWC - How did you get started in the hobby?

Dave - I used to play D&D back in the 80s, and we used figures to represent our characters and occasionally the monsters we were facing (poor high school students and all that). I was in my first year at college when I found Citadel Miniatures, collected a bunch, and made a chess set out of them. After building two chess sets, I decided it was time to start wargaming for real.

This month we've been pushing out the interviews with some big names around the community, and this interview is no exception. Today we have John and Mike from Santa Cruz Warhammer; home of the weekly Honor Roll and contributor of the Heroes of Armageddon project. So let's get to it!

How long have you been into the gaming scene and what got you started?
J: I started buying and painting minis in the late 70s to represent D&D characters and in the mid 80s started in on GW minis and played a few games of Adeptus Titanicus, a few years ago I met Mike through an old buddy and thats when I went totally overboard.
M: Our mutual friend Christian, who got both of us kind of in the hobby, got me hooked. At first I sniggered, then I went: hmmmm, then it turned into an obsession, now it's a regular part of life.
  
Do you play tabletop games? And if so, how often and what are your favorite games and armies?
J: Yes I play Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, but not often enough, but much more now that we have started a local gaming club. I have most armies, but I have been playing Lizardmen and Deathwing. I also like Wings of War.
M: i don't really play much, but lately I have played a few 400 point fantasy games with my budding Hordes of Vormond VC army

[Interview] Mathieu Fontaine - Studio Akaranseth

The next addition to our interview series is Mathieu Fontaine, an artist with several Golden Daemons on his shelf.  Having his talent for painting is one thing, but Mathieu is another person working to share what he has learned with a series of classes.  Once you've seen his work you'll know why you need to be asking your FLGS to bring him in to teach on of his Masterclass classes.

[Interview] Misterjustin - Secret Weapon Miniatures

For the next in our game industry interviews we talked to Misterjustin of Secret Weapon Miniatures.  From their site, SWM sell a large range of bases in addition to weathering pigments, washes, scenery kits and other conversion parts.  Justin though has made sure SWM is more than just a store and is a real part of the gaming community, including things like various painting classes and involvement in the Storm Wardens/Heroes of Armageddon projects.

[Interview] Mark Hofmann, Musings of a Metal Mind

Today we'll be interviewing one of the more unique minds of the blogging community; Mark from Musings of a Metal Mind. Creator of the Tyracrons, the Warden of Sovereignty and numerous other completely unique conversions; Mark's work is always breathtaking and worthy of some drooling. So let's get to it!

MWC: How long have you been into the 40k scene?

Mark: I started collecting miniatures in general back around 1989-90, although generally it was mostly Battletech with 40k/fantasy as kind of a peripheral. I used to pick up White Dwarf  every so often because back then it was a pretty good indie-gaming mag (as opposed to the overpriced sales rag it is now). I got into playing WHF around ’99-’00, and from there it was a short hop into 40k. The whole time my interest has been more from a miniatures standpoint, and I sort of backed into to the tabletop gaming aspect of it. As for blogging, well, that’s more recent. Like a having a hologram of a dead bunkmate, (any Red Dwarf fans out there?) it’s also sort of a tool for maintaining my sanity.
