The Golgotha!

Early on in the Heroes of Armageddon project I knew that I wanted to have a couple of surprises that I could "pull out of my hat" towards the end of the donation period. A little something that would show everyone that we were serious about creating unique armies. One of the surprises I concocted for the Steel Legion army was the mighty Golgotha Superheavy Missile-Platform.

Following a discussion with Matt Bonder from Miniature Wargame Conversions, I knew I had someone who could create my vision in miniature form. Matt pulled together the necessary funds and bought the Baneblade and Reaver Missile Launcher required to put this bad boy together. Although there were a few hiccups along the way, Matt sent the finished tank off to Brandon Palmer of GMM Studios, who put the great paintjob on the tank as only he can do, swiftly, but with a lot of gorgeous detailing.

A big THANK YOU to both these guys for their contributions!

In my mind, a massive artillery piece like this would certainly need an observation post, a spotter of some kind. In stepped Jeremy Webb, who bought this Elysian Tauros Venator for the job. Jeremy shipped it off to Jeff Wilhelm (of Dragon Forge fame) who started on the assembly and paint job. As the deadline drew closer and Jeff's real life workload grew, he passed it back to me to wrap things up. In a collaborative project like HOA, it is vitally important that communication is regular and that expectations are met. In this case Jeff kept me appraised of his situation and we worked out a plan B before things got too late. Success!

And finally, nothing this big would be complete without an Apocalypse datasheet from the master of Apoc datasheets, Larry Vela! (or Bigred from Bell of Lost Souls). I laid out my thoughts on the possible rules, then Larry went to town creating a very cool set of rules. You can download the datasheet from HERE.

So, there you have it. A great part of the HOA project, and a cool datasheet to go with it. You now have all you need to make your own right? I know I'll be adding one to my Blood Pact army ; )

MWC Needs Your Help!!

Hey Folks, MWC here and we really need your help. You see, none of us were able to attend Games Day. While we are all sad at the turn of events, we would love it if you, or anyone you know, has or could take pictures of the Heroes of Armageddon board and especially the Steel Legion army. Most notably, the Golgotha super heavy tank that MWC donated and converted.

We would love to have as many pics as we can so to spice it up, we will do a random drawing for each person that donates a picture or 2 (or 3) of the SL army and the Golgotha. We will then draw a name from the entries. The lucky winner gets a 25 dollar GW gift card.

Heroes of Armageddon - The Golgotha Has Arrived! Built by MWC!

Early on in the HoA project I spoke with Matt from Miniature Wargames Conversions, a guy who has created some pretty amazing "Apocalypse-style" conversions/builds in the past, and he agreed to take on the task. After the past few months Matt has been tinkering away, gathering a few bits from here and there, to create what I would like to dub the "Golgotha".

When Matt had finished the tank, he shipped it off to Brandon from GMM Studios. Again, another great guy and spectacular hobbyist, who whipped up this great paint job on the mighty Golgotha. Brandon assures me the airbrush stripes are Rotting Flesh in hue (to match the rest of the tanks), but his lights appear to have slightly washed it out.

Honestly, both guys have done a spectacular job, donating their time, talents, and personal savings to bring this dream to life. I take my hat off to them.

MWC's Miniature Conversion Contest

After much discussion within the darkly lit halls of the MWC's writing team's headquarters we're pleased to announce a new contest. Pay It Forward you say? Not this time around, now that I'm a writer here, MWC's going to make you earn your prizes, ladies and gents. So it's time to get those exacto-knives sharpened, that green stuff squishy and get those Dremels spinning. MWC is starting a conversion contest; the rules you ask? We don't play by the rules here at MWC! Except for, ya know... the rules below:

Miniature Conversion Contest Guidelines

1. By entering, you agree to our rules for the contest.
2. Entrants may enter as often as they like, but each entry must be submitted individually.
3. Entries must be submitted electronically via email (Miniaturewargameco AT gmail DOT com).
4. Entries must include the entrant's online name and real name on each email entry. (MWC will not publish your real name, but will need it to keep track of your entry.)
5. Entries must include details of the conversion (such as which parts and what models used, any green-stuffing, etc) in the body of the email entry.
6. Models entered must be submitted via .jpg format of unpainted models. The only exception is a picture with the MWC logo, which may be painted.
7. Entry photos must include at least one, if not all, pictures of the presented model alongside the MWC logo as a confirmation of authenticity.
8. Entrants may not win more than once within a twelve month time period.
9. MWC is not responsible for lost, misdirected, undeliverable or otherwise unreceived entries.
10. Winners will be determined via a poll that all visitors can vote on. Precautions have been put in place to avoid bot-entering the poll. This is meant to be a fair and balanced voting process and any findings that someone is violating this attempt; that person(s) will be exempt from any future contests including but not restricted to the Miniature Conversion Contest.
11. In the event of a tie, the MWC team will collaborate with an internal vote to decide the winner(s).
12. Winners shall be notified by email and via posts on the MWC blog. Winners shall be given seven days to respond to receive their prize(s). Failure to respond in the allotted time shall render any winner invalid for the prize(s) for that month's contest.
13. Prize support is typically provided by outside sources and by entering you agree that the prizes are awesome.

Unexpected LiveStrong Addition | Wolves for the Wolf God

As those of you who follow his blog (as you all should) will know that Skarvald over at held a prize giveaway recently for a Renegade Militia set from Forgeworld. And by some unfathomable fluke, the MWC team received the prize!

So, before we go any further, the entire MWC team would like to give a big, hearty thank you to Skarvald from Wolves for the Wolf God, and a pint of the best Fenrisian ale we could find!

And now of course, the question arises of what we should do with this fine set of Renegade Militia we have. We debated, and before long, we decided to do what was best, and donate it to the LiveStrong Project.

Of course, we all felt that only the best would do for this noteworthy cause. Therefore, these Renegade Militia will be based on Secret Weapon Miniature bases, provided by Mr Justin, from Secret Weapon Miniatures. Lantz will supply any Cadian parts needed for the Militia, and finally our very own Matt will convert like he's never converted before to make these guys as AWESOME as they can be!

Then these marvelous little models will be put up for sale to raise what money we can for the Livestrong Wargaming Project using the eBay Giving Works Project, donating all the proceeds to LiveStrong!

We are VERY much open to color scheme and even how converted they should be, so let those comments roll!

That's right, MWC wants your help once again. This time around we're asking for your submissions of GW's Finecast products. Simply submit your pictures of the models unbuilt or built (or even painted if you'd like) to miniaturewargameco (at) gmail (dot) com. When submitting your pictures, please include your name or nickname you would like posted with your picture(s). Our goal for this project is to create a database of the new products so the community can look at what they're going to get before they buy it. This database will include pictures of the product, reviews from us here at MWC and our followers to spread the knowledge and experiences with each product.

So get those pictures sent and take part in helping out your fellow wargamer! And hey, if you get several submitted, there may be a little gift for your help!

MWC featured on the 11th Company

Whats that you say?! This week Lantz and Marcus from made it on The 11th Company episode 71. During Pat's segment, Pat's Corner, they represented MWC proudly by discussing  MWC's plan for the present and future along with Grey Knights and the AdMech FanDex. The segment begins at 37:13, but the entire episode is worth listening as usual. Great podcast in general but especially since 2 of MWC's great writers are there. So, yeah.. WftWG is just my journal in which I get to dump all crazy ideas that come to me in this awesome hobby... And I occasionally brag about eating people's armies with my Thunderwolves.

Welcome to the first of many high profile interviews with some of the best modelers, painters, and designers. What better place to start then with the main creator of Killzone 40k. I wanted to let you guys know about a new campaign in the gaming community called Gifts of Mork!

Fluff Writers and Artists Wanted

Rather than spending the next few weeks parading from door to door asking for "fluffers", as that landed me on DateLine, Matt and I have decided to put out an urgent call to the 40k Community. We're in dire need of a few things here at MWC and TMP, and we're counting on all of you to get the word out.

Here's a basic list of what we're looking for:

Fluff Writers

• Stories/Overviews of the Adeptus Mechanicus for the AdMech FanDex
• Unit descriptions for unreleased/new units for the AdMech FanDex
• Help writing an overview of the Sons of Horus
• Unit descriptions for each Sons of Horus unit on MWC

Artists

• New cover-art for the AdMech FanDex (current cover-art found here)
• Artwork for in-book pages for the AdMech FanDex (for use within the gallery)

The short-and-sweet of it is Matt and I are not that fantastical at writing fluff. Matt already has an idea for the overview of the Sons of Horus, but feels that it needs a writer's touch. And while I've written fluff for the AdMech fandex so far, currently anything more I'm coming up with is sub-par to what I feel the AdMech deserve. So, in short, MWC is looking for the above fluff and artwork from those that feel they can take on the task. Actual RT ERA Warhammer 40,000 Compendium

So a follower sent me a link to the full PDF version of the RT 40k Compendium thinking others might enjoy his find..

It came out in 1989 so it may be as old if not older then alot of you, but for the rest of us, it was the good ol days when you could field basically anything your mind could come up with. it had rules to make robots,, various weapon upgrades turning them into all new beasts, forces and creatures filling the galaxy.. but alas, things have changed, overall, for the better.
