Description/Reviews:
FRACTAL GUITAR 4 is many things: instrumental music that fearlessly and uncomprimisingly explores the sonic and expressive potential of the modern electric guitar combined with digital effects, music that - thanks to drummer Yogev Gabay - is a masterclass in polyrhythmic drumming, music that is as precise as a Swiss watch, but that can also be free, wild and expressive. But, ultimately, it captures a passionate and urgent ‚Search for the Miraculous,‘ a search for timeless music that reflects the tragic contradictions of the human condition in its general and current state, where there is light as well as darkness, hope as well as despair, truth as well as illusion.

Description/Reviews:
This album is a delight from beginning to end, with Meier travelling many different roads, showing there is so much which can be gleaned from an electric guitar and while he has been influenced by Beck, one can also hear Steve Vai in what he performs, along with Allan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin. It is a very melodic release, and the duet with Lizzie Ball on “Yemen” is nothing short of beautiful. What makes this album such a delight is the way Meier blends in so many different styles, from fusion to rock, from Eastern music to progressive, and while he can shred when the need arises this album is all about musicality and using skills to get the right sonic results as opposed to just showing off technique.

Lyft Trio "Nord"

Country: Switzerland
Genre(s): Instrumental Jazz, Fusion, Psychedelic
Label: Sulane Records
Format: CD,digital,vinyl
Release date: September 1, 2023
Tracklist
1. Escape (5:41)
2. Arvenstübli (6:17)
3. Aus Gutem Grund (4:04)
4. Iso (4:40)
5. Birds (4:58)
6. On Point (4:21)

8. Gefestigte Persönlichkeit (5:16)

Total Time 39:18

Credits
Mario Castelberg - guitar
Janic Haller - drums
Joël Banz - bass

Recording & Mixing – Joël Banz
Mastering – Klaus Scheuermann

Description/Reviews:
Led by guitarist Mario Castelberg, the Lyft Trio has created a fascinating mix of electronic jazz, psychedelic rock, and cinematic landscapes on their third studio album "Nord". The music simmers and boils and offers an exciting genre blend. The improvisation and composition merge seamlessly and form a unity. The Lyft Trio draws from the various musical influences of its members and combines the freedom of jazz, the atmosphere of psychedelic rock, the electronic sound aesthetic, and the song craft of pop. They always find a balance between consonance and dissonance, clear melodies and atmospheric sounds, and simplicity and complexity. If one had to name names, a mixture of Radiohead, Tonbruket, Bill Frisell, and Supersilent comes closest to the music of the Lyft Trio.
The album "Nord" contains a total of eight compositions by Mario Castelberg, which tell different moods and stories. The song "Das Arvenstübli" invites you to dream and tells the story of someone who is stranded alone in a snowy mountain house. The consonant harmony and dreamy groove create an atmosphere of peace and relaxation. "Aus gutem Grund", on the other hand, gets psychedelic and rocky, with a krautrock-like beat and quirky scales and sounds. With "Iso" and "Birds", the album returns to dreamier and more atmospheric sounds and creates expansive landscapes through sweet melodies. "On Point" then brings a sharp contrast with a tricky rhythm and an electronic improvisation before getting lost again in the endlessness. With "Back or Forth", the album briefly says goodbye to jazz and brings a good-natured pop tune. The ironically meant title "Gefestigte Persönlichkeit" ("firm personality") follows no firm structure but meanders and loses itself, provocatively ending the album and leaving it in silence. Overall, "Nord" is an impressive album that showcases the musical range of the Lyft Trio and underscores their ability to unite different genres and moods.

Genre(s): Instrumental Progressive Rock
Label: Monobuster Records

1. Gin Blizzard (5:13)
2. Fruit Of The Doom (7:38)
3. Fuzzy Fuzzlinscha (6:50)
4. Tutti Quentin (8:55)
5. Deaf'n'Italy (9:48)

Meek Hofmann - Bass
Reto Beeler - Drums/Synths

All songs written by BUBKA
Recorded and mixed by Rolf Gisler
Mastered by Rob Viso
Artwork by Daniel Amhof / Büro Nord

Description/Reviews:
Their purely instrumental music shows both complex arrangements and an unusual combination of instruments. The experimental access with a hang to unconventional and extended soundlandscapes is influenced by Stoner, Kraut and progressive rock music.
Since their debut album «EPI ZENN» Bubka’s music has stilistically become more compact and rhythmically driving.
Dooming sounds, sometimes distorted, sometimes rather spherical, leave their mark on the extended sound structures of their second album « II ».

Description/Reviews:
The album plays out like a live setlist, starting with the gorgeous instrumental, “Prelude – Love Ballade” serving as a warm-up to the following title track; a playful, funky blues cry hearkening back to a New Orleans’ nola vista. Shifting between a blues shuffle and a swing chorus with a stellar horn section, the repeated motifs become a clear indication early on that the band like to showcase each other’s talents, and rightly so; particular praise for the keyboardist’s short but energetic solo.
