Lacy Sunshine Sunny

This little cutie Sunny is a free digi image from Heather Valentin of Lacy Sunshine which has been given away  on Challenge #5 at the Lacy Sunshine Challenge blog. She has a very generous prize of $30 to spend in the store on digis and if you use one of her images you get 2 chances to win. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed as I love some of the new images and what a fab prize that would be to win!

I absolutely adore sunflowers as knew I NEEDED to colour this little cutie up, she has the most sweet face. I have a few of Heather's images that have been given away but this is the first one I have coloured up and it was a delight to work with. She is if course coloured with Promarkers & Flexmarkers.

I have used the latest sketch #13 from I {Heart} Sketches for the layout and used some of my favourite papers from Dovecraft in yellows and oranges.

The image has been diecut with a fancy frame by X-Cut and then I smooshed a little distress ink around the edges and mounted on 3D foam. I added some glossy accents to her eyes and some white gel pen to highlight them. I decoupaged a 2nd layer of the front of the flower pot and mounted with foam squares.

After sticking the papers to the card base I I used a Cheery Lynn die to cut some swirls to frame the image. I added some glittered fabric flower stickers and popped some red stickles in the centre. I added a butterfly sticker form the same sheet and the sentiment was a freebie from When The Scrap Hits The Fun.

Well currently it is raining in Birmingham, UK and has been almost all day. They say it will be 18C on Sunday so we shall have to wait and see if the weathermen have got it right. In the meantime I shall settle for the warmth and sunshine emanating from my card

This is my last challenge to be teamed up with Ali and she chose this image Lady Klimt esq to use by Hope Jacare Doodles. Now I have to be very honest and say when I first saw it I didn’t have a clue what to do with it and it is not an image I would have chosen for myself. However, that is one of the greatest things about taking it in turns to choose an image for your partner as it makes you go out of your comfort zone. As a result I am so very proud of how his card has turned out.

Having done a bit of research on the tinterweb I found a lot of Klimt’s paintings were in ochres, greens and autumn shades so I coloured the image with Promarkers and Flexmarkers to suit. I then used Distress Ink pads in light brown and green and stippled around the edge to create a soft background and blend the colours together at the bottom. I matted the image onto brown card.

The base card is Kraft and the green swirly paper is from the Daydreamer First Edition pad by Dovecraft. I used the last of a sheet of bronze embossed swirl card by Kanban for the lower part of the card. The sentiment is a freebie by Ginger’s House and I felt it matched the wistfulness of the image. I used a nestabilities die to cut it out and a Krylon gold pen to go round the edge. I used a new Cheery Lynn die Pricess Tree to cut some glitter paper by Papermania (yes I got covered in glitter…) It is the first time I used this die and I was impressed how clean the cuts were and it was quite a thick awkward paper to cut through. The glitter flowers and gems rae also by Papermania.

So Ali Thank You for making me work with this image. Through my research I learnt a lot about the Klimt style and realised that some of his recurring themes such as the swirls and tree of life originated from his paintings and are in fact ones that I really like to use myself. It also goes to prove that if you are taken out of your comfort zone, these works of art are some of those which you are most proud of.

Well with all the blooming rain we are having in the UK it’s about time we had some sunshine so this challenge is probably the only way we will get some unless you are going abroad for your holidays….

I have used an image called Pook Girl 1 by Pookie Designs for this challenge. I chose to make a monochromatic card in only shades of yell and using white as a neutral. Yellow is one for my favourite colours so I set to work using my beloved Promarkers & Flexmarkers in various shades of sunshine J

I haven’t made an easel card for ages and thought this would be a lovely way to use this image. All the patterned papers are from the Family Ties First Edition pad by Dovecraft. The main paper is a glittery damask pattern and I used a co-ordinating gingham pattern as I felt it would emulate the top of the dress. The darker yellow has been recycled from a glossy brochure from a recruitment agency that I have had in my stash for years.

The sentiment is a freebie from Gingers House and I used a nestabilities die to to cut it and the larger mats. I inked around the edges of the larger mat to define the shape better. I used my lovely flourish die from Cheery Lynn. I love how you can manipulate the swirls as in the front of the card, but then can snip it into shapes as for the inside. The flowers are Primas and I have added lots of twinkly gem centres.

Daisy Doodles #62 Anything Goes

Over at Daisy Doodles Creative Challenges we have a new challenge today

*********************************************

For my card I have used one of the newer Daisy Doodles images Birthday Surprise which comes in 3 formats for only $1.25. Head over to the Daisy Doodles Store to check these out and all the other great digi’s that are available !

There are so many lovely elements to this design that I went to town on the decoupage, layering the banner, balloons and the gift box. I coloured the image in with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and kept the colour palette simple in blues and browns which is one of my fave colour combos.

The cardblank had been covered with paper  from HOTP. The diecut border is a self adhesive one from Papermania which was beige so I used a Distressed Ink pad on it to re-colour. I used my new favourite flourish die from Cheery Lynn and added some sequin flowers and gems.

I hope you will pop over to the blog to see the lovely creations on there from the rest of the DT and we look forward to seeing your entries in for our Anything Goes Challenge

I'll see you again next week with another lovely Daisy Doodles design.

It was Choccy’s turn to choose an image for us to work with and it is a stamp pack called Fun In The Rain by Lil Diva Stamps. You get the image of the little boy in his wellies and a rainbow too. I chose to use the boy as it is raining so much in the UK at the moment it seemed very appropriate. We had the wettest April on record, then a drought in a lot of the country and then so much rain the drought was lifted….crazy crazy weather!

Anyhoo the image was of course coloured in with Promarkers and Flexmarkers and I used a Nestabilities die to cut the image and a red mat from scrap cardstock. I added a second layer for the cloud mounted on 3d foam.

Using a sketch from Crafting Life’s Pieces for the layout I added some lovely new papers from the Family Ties First Edition pad by Dovecraft. It has lots of fairly bright primary colours to match my image. Just because the weather is dreary it doesn’t mean my card has to be J

I added one of my most favourite ribbons with the lace trim to it and my absolute new favourite Cheery Lynn die. I snipped it to fit the card better and added some Prima flowers and small buttons. Finally I added some bunting cut from scraps and hanging from some Baker’s Twine with a handwritten message ‘Rain Rain Go Away’ a sentiment I am sure many of you will agree with.
