La Mancha Del Pecado / Xazzaz ‎– La Fetichista split tape

Yet another split between La Mancha Del Pecado and Xazzaz. Miguel Pérez offers two dense subterranean and Lovecraftian harsh drone/noise invocations, while Mike Simpson tortures his guitar and amp once more with layers of swarming feedback and disharmonics close to Skullflower's best. 2013 tape on Agorafobia Tapes and Molotov.

Xazzaz / La Mancha Del Pecado ‎– La Esquina Roja Split cdr

On this superb split between two of the most notable guitar-based drone/noisers of the present, Xazzaz/Mike Simpson is at his most black-metal moment, combining sinister tremolo riffing with terrorist feedback in a buried-in-the-coffin sound, while La Mancha Del Pecado/Miguel Perez plays a heavy Culver-ian/Sunn-O)))-esque heavy static drone hymn that sounds like it also has a little bit of an organ. 2013 cdr on Oracle Netlabel

Luciernaga & La Mancha Del Pecado ‎– Split tape

Great split between Joao Da Silva's Luciernaga (also head of Fabrica Records) and one of the blog's favorites, Miguel Perez's La Mancha Del Pecado. Both guys showcase cavernous ominous drones. 2014 tape on Fabrica.

Leteo - Phantasm

Leteo is the alter-ego of Mexican black metal band Funereal Moon and membership includes one of the blog's favorites, Miguel Pérez of La Mancha Del Pecado and The Skull Mask. They play ritualistic horror ambient/noise inspired by the classics of the video nasties/giallo scene, and their sounds could have well been included in those films. They have released two more tapes, one on At War With False Noise, and one on Matching Head respectively, both of which are definitely worth checking out. 2016 cd on Christfucker Records.

La Mancha Del Pecado - Blue Velvet: Volume One cdr

Very low-pitched dark drone wall and toxic guitat noise over samples of the classic film by Miguel Pérez. 2014 cdr on Altar of Waste.

Skull Mask - Walls of Convenience tape

Feverish, mind-numbing guitarscapes by the absolute master Miguel Pérez. The amount of delay here gives a sense of an oozing ever-flowing agony and fear. Being aware Miguel's political standpoint as he was involved in the benefit compilation You Are Welcome Here by Fabrica Records with tracks from Skull Mask and La Mancha Del Pecado, whose proceeds would go to refugee aid organizations, I cannot but think that the title of this tape is related to Trump's election and his intentions to build a wall on the US-Mex border. As Miguel is a Mexican himself from Ciudad Juárez, a city located on the Tex-Mex crossing line and in the chaos of the Drug War and the disappearings of dozens of women, the "walls of convenience" is his critique of the creation of a wall that would seem to provide a sense of "convenience" and "security" to the privileged white citizens against the "threat" of the "filthy migrant." In this sense, the threatening and urgent atmosphere of the music here could be an expression of the fact that your fucking walls will not be able to stop us from coming in and destroying your clean, consumerist Western world of shopping malls and of exploitation of the labor of the immigrants and refugees. Words are very limiting to express the greatness involved here. 2016 tape on Matching Head.

La Mancha Del Pecado ‎– Cadaveres Exhumados cdr

Subterranean unsettling drones in the vein of Culver and weird ambient black metal resembling old MZ.412, ending in a harsh noise wall track that is closed off by a mescaline desert ritual tune. La Mancha Del Pecado is the harsh drone project of Miguel Pérez, guitarist extraordinaire and also the guy behind The Skull Mask. 2012 cdr on Ruido Horrible.

The Skull Mask - Sahumerio 3" CDR

The Skull Mask is the solo guitar project of Miguel Pérez from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, who is also known for the harsh drone project La Mancha Del Pecado (under which moniker he has collaborated extensively with the mighty Culver), and ambient black metal band Leteo. In The Skull Mask he plays ecstatic, feverish, cavernous droning acoustic guitar incantations for the deities of the underworld that would fit perfectly a wandering both along the barren landscapes of the Mexico-Texas border or on the Arabian deserts. Miguel is an amazing guitar player - not to mention a very kind person - , his style and dexterity very close to Sir Richard Bishop's, and this little, beautifully packaged cdr is one of the best examples of his amazing output, which can be found here. This is highly recommended. 3" cd on the superb but unfortunately defunct Striate Cortex.
