Truth is inescapable because reality is inescapable!
This blog is looking for wisdom, to have and to share. It is also looking for other rare character traits like good humor, courage, and honor. It is not an easy road, because all of us fall short. But God is love, forgiveness and grace. Those who believe in Him and repent of their sins have the promise of His Holy Spirit to guide us and show us the Way.

"If you don't care about truth,it is likely that all you care about is power."
Andrew commemorates Eric's Slalwell's decision to exit the Democratic race for 2020.
Andrew informs his audience about the Epstein case.
The ultimate target of the Left is freedom itself. Manipulating our actual history. If you don't care about truth, it is likely that all you care about is power. Andrew gives the example of Trump talking about the effort to rewrite history regarding Jefferson, Washington, and Charlottesville.

"Will it be illegal for me to one day tell my children that men are men and women are women, irrespective of how they choose to self-identify?
William Sullivan writes at the Political Palaver blog,
...When will the government find itself within its rights to punish me, or my children whom I’m teaching to become responsible citizens, for saying that studying gender and sexuality identifiers like Demisexual or Twospirits is nonsensical, and that such imagined identificat"ions should not be discussed in elementary school? Will it be illegal for me to one day tell my children that men are men and women are women, irrespective of how they choose to self-identify? What if I tell them that a young boy who thinks he’s a girl is really just a confused boy, and that doctors and parents and teachers indulging in that young boy’s fantasies by pretending he’s a girl, or worse, prescribing puberty blockers and hormone treatment to potentially cripple him for life, is nothing more than child abuse?Read more here.
After all, we all accept that a five-year old may not have the sense to avoid oncoming traffic, which is why a parent might instinctively hold a five-year old’s hand when walking on the sidewalk of a busy street. Yet we are being led to believe that he can be positive of his own sexual identity, and that any suggestion otherwise amounts to ignorance and discrimination?
...It can happen here, and moreover, it is happening here. Best that we recognize that, because the cultural battle against fascistic gender theorists is not to be taken lightly. Some hills are worth dying on. And as is becoming more and more evident, the war to preserve truth is one with many seemingly inconsequential hills that have already been conceded by those passively interested in truth.

Lies, Lies, Lies!
Guest post
by Suzann Darnall
This will be quite short and not so sweet. I am angry. Exceedingly angry. I am fed up with the constant stream of lies that inundate me from far too many sides. If it is not another politician lying or “misspeaking”, it is the media lying about what some politician did or did not “misspeak” about.
Is it really that hard to just say the truth? I don’t think so. But, apparently too many people in the public eye find it pert near impossible. If we are to judge by the neverending story lines of falsehood after falsehood that streams across our computers, tablets, and smartphones, it is a national epidemic of fibbing that has swept across our country . . . possibly even the world.
To those who would continue to mislead us, I say, “Just step to the plate, live up to your commitments, honor your oaths, dig deep for some integrity, respect your obligations, and tell the d@mn truth!!!” I am not completely certain when so many Americans stopped valuing the truth, but I am surely sad to see that deception is now just an everyday event for far too many.
I expect honesty from my family, friends, and the companies with which I do business. I am honest in my dealings with others. Why should I not expect the same from my government and media??? Just stop with all the lies!
Unfortunately, most of these lying lowlifes will continue to be re-elected or employed, even if they tell the truth. But, at least it is some small measure of improvement if they are truthful lowlifes for a change. I know they are useless, but I’d still prefer they are not lying to me on top of being worthless pieces of crap.
And, don’t even get me started on the lying, lowlife celebrities!!!

Rights versus responsibilities
Jordan Peterson is a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. He got into trouble with the Canadian thought police and now is speaking out fearlessly. He urges conservatives to speak the truth as they have come to know it.
Peterson is against postmodernism. He recommends we read a book by Stephen Hicks entitled Explaining Postmodernism. Postmodernists are not grateful. They are resentful, arrogant, and deceitful. They are opposed to the individual, logic, and dialogue. They slot themselves into victim vs. oppressor categories. The Left sells millennials rights. The Right sells responsibilities.
Peterson encourages us to not be afraid speak our truth. What we should be afraid of is not being! Don't underestimate the power of our speech! Your capacity for speech is divine! There is nothing more powerful than truth! It is not safe to speak, and it never will be! But it's even less safe not to speak! It is a balance of risks; you either pay the price for being who you are, or pay the price for being a bloody serf, one who has enslaved him or herself!
Say what you think carefully. Pay attention to your words. Truth is the cornerstone of society. Tell the truth, and see what happens. Don't lie. The enemy is a cloud of gnats. They are only courageous in groups or in mobs. Stand your ground. Be afraid, but be afraid of the right thing: not saying what you believe, because that is the same as not being! Here you are suffering away; you might as well be at the same time. At least then there is something to you!

Telling the truth on behalf of the people who elected her!

State Senator Janet Nguyen is removed from the California Senate, where she was telling the truth about Tom Hayden's support of the communists who were killing Americans and members of her family in Viet Nam.

Can we know truth?
Jeff Costello is consumed with living in truth.
Yes, it is true that in all societies, throughout all time, most have been fundamentally unconcerned with truth, and content to parrot the lies that guarantee social acceptance and advancement.Read much more here.

Truth
Chateau Heartiste awards his Comment of the Week (COTW) award to a commenter who calls himself Captain Obvious, who wrote,
COTW winner Captain Obvious reflects on the possibility that the NW European White man’s unique idolization of truth-seeking preconfigured his relationship with Christianity.
‘“Truth” is a concept that is held as important to one demographic across all of the Earth: Northwestern European White Men.’
——— I have long felt that Christianity was an idea which went off in search of a people, and finally found them in Northwest Europe [Christianity being founded upon a Trinity of L0ve, Logos, and TRUTH].
plumpjack adds a coda that could double as a shiv,
I agree with this 100%. the basic tenets of Christianity were already encoded in our DNA, placed there through the rigorous natural selection of living in harsh climates, where survival requires absolute honesty and efficiency. Truth is simply the most efficient way to live.
i suppose one could say that rap music was an idea that went in search of a people also. and Islam. etc…
Religions are as likely to emerge from (or seek out) the genetic substrate of a people as a people are to be changed by the moral code and tenets of their new religion. Mutually reinforcing feedback loops intensify the attraction between a race and a religion.
So what happened now that Christianity is fading as a force in the lives of NW European Whites? Briefly, Whites abandoned virtue seeking for virtue signaling. The coin of this realm is the Pretty Lie, and Christianity became a hindrance to achieving the perfect sophistic signal, so it was discarded.

Evil doesn't always lose
Chateau Heartiste writes,
What if the American media and major information gateways AND the US political establishment AND the FBI, CIA and NSA — all of them except a few lonely, croaking voices trying to break through the anti-white noise — are stocked rug to rafters with Clinton and Twerk and Fat Cat Party apparatchiks who glibly and gleefully ignore or suppress the truth about Clinton’s criminal activities and traffic in lies, misinformation, and blatant narrative propaganda to discredit her opponent?Read more here.
What if the rot is so deep the truth has no way of reaching the light?
What if the incestuous evil and corruption in every American institution are so scrupulously shielded from scrutiny by the ruling class and their media whores that the Good and Righteous slumber silently to a sad and lonely death that goes unnoticed….worse, callously ignored….worse still, deliberately perpetrated…by those very same entities tasked with the duty to speak for the vulnerable and the powerless and expose the depredations of the powerful?
What if there is no Deep State…only ONE SOROSIAN STATE with interests diametrically opposed to the interests of the American people?
What if this ONE SOROSIAN STATE establishes itself so firmly and permanently in the American social and political fabric that the only outlets for truth are mischievous online retreats, tucked far away from mass consciousness? And when the SOROSIAN STATE achieves total victory, how long do you think Le Chateau will stand athwart cuckery yelling COWARD before WordPress is given the order to SHUT IT DOWN?
What if the rot….IS THE WHOLE POINT?
Evil doesn’t always lose.
Chairman Mao died a rich old man while still in office.
But I can tell you this.
Truth always wins, one way or another.
If truth doesn’t win from within the system (via the exposure of lies by the people’s guardians) then truth will win outside the system.

Does the truth matter?
Does the truth matter? Not to groups like Black Lives Matter. That's tragic for many reasons, not the least of which is that black lives are being lost as a result. So says Heather Mac Donald in this Prager U. video.

Liberating things about having faith in God
At One Cosmos, Gagdad Bob writes,
Commenter Julie adds,
Ultimately we might say that faith is the answer to the problem of God, just as scientific faith is the answer to the problem of dealing with physical reality. This is one reason why science developed only in the Christian west and nowhere else: our faith in a rational creator.
Faith is "knowledge of an approaching discovery." To bring it down to bobworld, I approach each post with an attitude of faith that one will appear. They are very much structured by an attitude of open not-knowing, such that I am guided by what it is I am looking for. It very much feels as if there is an invisible attractor out there, and as soon as it starts tugging at me, it attracts the right ideas and books and other resources to fill it out.
...Notice that this is one of the functions of the liberal media, albeit in reverse. That is, they work furiously to "inform" (unform?) us what not to pay attention to, such as Benghazi, or the Clinton Foundation, or what actually happens during an abortion, or what happens when you raise the minimum wage, or the risk factors of homosexuality, or the science of human intelligence. Liberals literally have no faith, in that they cannot permit themselves to ask questions about these and countless other subjects.
Commenter Julie adds,
One of the liberating things about having faith in God is knowing that there is no reason to fear truth, scientific or otherwise, because nothing that is true can negate God. Science grounded in truth (as opposed to propaganda) is simply further evidence of God.Read more here.
Conversely, anyone rooted in leftist faith must guard vigilantly against the hatefacts of life, because to acknowledge them is to acknowledge that they are living the lie.
...With my kids, I often talk about the presence of God as being like the air: nobody has ever seen air, but we know it exists because of how it moves other things. Another good analogy we used this weekend is radio waves, wifi or Bluetooth. These things are not visible, and without the equipment to detect the signal they may as well be nonexistent. They can't be seen, heard, touched, tasted or smelled. Nevertheless, here we are, sending invisible messages to each other using those very unseen wavelengths, and they have a profound effect upon the everyday lives of modern humans.

Apparently all the news isn’t fit to print.
What is the state of quality independent journalism? Glenn Reynolds writes,
Glenn links to this piece by Kurt Schlicter at Town Hall. Schlicter writes,
So we’re supposed to bewail the travails of these people? We’re supposed to get all fussy when Trump stands up to them and pulls their credentials? Note that’s “pull their credentials,” not “bar them from his rallies.” Now, if these journolosers want to cover Trump, they’ll have to wait in line with those unwashed, dirty people known as “Americans.” Ewwww. This is the greatest atrocity in all of human history – Trump denying his active opponents a back stage pass to facilitate their lying about him.
...But what doesn’t the MSM think sets us firmly on the road to fascism? Liberal attorneys general persecuting and prosecuting people for “denying” the leftist lie about global warming. The IRS targeting Obama’s political enemies for advocating against liberal policies. The abusive sham government investigation of people speaking out for Governor Scott Walker. These actual campaigns of very real government suppression of dissenting speech are apparently cool with the MSM because the targets are on the MSM’s enemies list.
...Sure, technology is causing disruption in the industry, but the MSM would be better able to weather the storm if everyone didn’t hate it and want to lock it out of the tornado cellar. The MSM has nothing but contempt for us, and now it’s getting it back in kind. Trump being mean to you? Aw, poor babies. Your newspaper going under? Here, hold this anchor.
I don’t worry about the journalists I respect – there will always be a market for quality. It’s the hacks and flunkies I won’t miss. And their misfortune won’t even earn a “Meh.” It’ll earn a smile.
Read more here.
It would be a shame to lose quality independent journalism that told the truth regardless of politics. But you can’t lose what you don’t have, and we don’t have much of that.
Glenn links to this piece by Kurt Schlicter at Town Hall. Schlicter writes,
The MSM, of course, wants to have it both ways. It wants to be hailed as an institution composed of crusading truthtellers whose integrity and willingness to speak truth to power make them the cornerstone of a free society. Except most of them are really partisan hacks who lie endlessly for the liberal politicians they suck up to. Their relationship with Democratic politicians is less speaking truth to power than sexting their masters. When it comes to covering for their progressive pals, it’s “50 Shades of Newsprint” and the MSM eagerly chomps down on its ball-gag.
They don’t even bother hiding their agenda – apparently they noticed that no one believed their protestations of objectivity anyway and decided it wasn’t even worth the effort to fake it anymore. Donald Trump says enough dumb stuff on his own, but the MSM still feels it needs to misreport and misrepresent him. When he – quite correctly – suggested that there was something weird about Obama’s inability to place the blame for radical Muslim terrorism on radical Muslim terrorists, this became “Trump Says Obama Supports Terrorists.” When he pointed out some troops (Trump says he was referring to Iraqi troops) in the Middle East were corrupt (sadly, some were), this became “Trump Calls All American Soldiers Thieves.” If Trump says he inhales oxygen, the headline will be “Trump Admits He’s Just Like Hitler.”
But with Hillary or Obama, it’s the reverse. At best, they report on facts that manifestly demonstrate her guilt of multiple felonies and misdemeanors, yet make sure to undercut their own reporting by asserting she can’t possibly be indicted. The media can’t shut up about Trump U, but the $16 million the Bill and Hillary Graftatron 2016 nabbed from Laureate U? Apparently all the news isn’t fit to print.
The MSM is shameless. For example, when some gay Democrat radical Muslim slaughters LGBT clubgoers and then Anderson Cooper attacks the (Republican) Florida attorney general for not being sufficiently open to same sex marriage, it’s pretty clear whose team CNN is on. That’s the same CNN that cut off my mic when I dared point out Hillary’s active enabling of Bill Clinton’s sexual abuses instead of being outraged by Trump using the word “schlonged.” There are some good people at CNN, and the staff is always very nice to guests, but it’s in the tank like Dukakis.
Truth matters
We are now at the stage of the campaign where The National Enquirer is driving the debate. Their new issue which hits our newstands in Colorado today features five women reputed to have been Ted Cruz's mistresses. I may have to stoop so low as to purchase that rag to see what they have to say, because they have blocked the story in their online website. The left is rejoicing this morning on Twitter.
Why read it? Because the truth matters, no matter where you find it. I want my vote to go to a candidate with solid character. Of course, The Enquirer is noted for one thing: digging up dirt on celebrities. They do it weekly. I remember at least four famous cases where the Enquirer produced damaging evidence against celebrities. One was Democrat candidate John Edwards, who was having an affair while his wife was suffering from cancer. That revelation destroyed his candidacy and political career.
The Enquirer also broke the story about Tiger Woods being unfaithful to his wife.

The other I remember clearly was OJ Simpson. When it was discovered that shoe prints on the scene of the murder of his wife and Ron Goldman were from a rare Italian shoe called Bruno Maglia, OJ said, "I would never wear those ugly ass shoes." The Enquirer then reached into their archives and produced a photo of OJ as a sideline football television reporter walking along in Bruno Maglia shoes.

Remember when Gary Hart was leading in the Democrat primaries, and then The Enquirer showed him with Donna Rice on a yacht named Monkey Business?

I have written here on a fact that I found curious: both The Enquirer and The Globe, the two most prominent supermarket celebrity-destroying tabloids, are rooting for Donald Trump. Trump granted The Enquirer an interview in his gold plated living room, and every week thereafter the Enquirer has produced pro-Trump stories. Is Trump supplying them with gossip rumors to dig up about Cruz? I suspect he is. I want to know the truth: about Cruz, Trump, Hillary, or whomever else becomes a viable candidate.
Ted and Heidi Cruz impressively proclaim their love and devotion to each other often. The Enquirer is calling that devotion into question. I just want to know the truth.

What if I'm wrong about this?
How am I going to live up to this? How an arrogant guy got humble.
But wait: narcissism works! Obama has this disorder of the mind, in which he can't separate his inner world from the outer world. When you achieve your goals, you realize you are still this empty person inside.
Obama doesn't want to admit failure. He wants the ego boost.
Modesty allows you to stay over the target of the truth, by not being anchored to this arrogant position of "this is what I believe, and I've stopped thinking. I've come to my conclusion."

Lying liars lie habitually
Kevin Williamson makes the point in National Review that lying liars lie habitually. He is referring to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Does Hillary owe Trump and the nation an apology for falsely claiming that ISIS is using Donald Trump's statements as recruitment tools. Yes!
...Never mind what this says about Herself’s fitness for the presidency: We all know that she is morally, ethically, and intellectually unfit for the job. She’s unfit to manage a Walmart in Muleshoe, Texas. She’s unfit to have a route delivering the Buck County Courier Times. From cattle futures to bimbo eruptions to Internet auteurs inspiring terror attacks in Benghazi, anybody who is paying any attention understands that Herself’s relationship with the truth is a lot like her relationship with the Big Creep: all politics, a marriage of convenience.Read more here.
This isn’t about Herself. This is about democracy.
It used to fall upon the news media to police this sort of thing, but they are today utterly incapable of doing so. So-called fact-checking sites such as PolitiFact are nests of intellectually dishonest partisan hackery, and even journalists who want to do the right thing have a very difficult time doing so in a world of infinite media choices. Cognitive bias is very powerful: When people have decided on a certain model of how the world is, they tend to take to heart stories that reinforce that view and to discount those that challenge it. That is one of the reasons why the Washington Post is retiring its “What Was Fake?” column dedicated to exposing popular hoaxes. You cannot reach the unreachable or educate the ineducable, especially those who do not want to be educated.
Unfortunately, that leaves those of us who want to see an honest and rigorous debate about public affairs largely dependent upon the moral character of politicians and other people in public life. It’s not working out too well: The reality of economic life in the early 21st century is incomprehensibly complex, and the real-world policy factors involved are myriad. But in the rhetoric of Bernie Sanders, this all comes down to two words: “rigged economy.” That isn’t an oversimplification — it’s a lie, and Sanders knows better. But he also knows that this stuff gets real hairy real quick — having seen the man in action, I very much doubt that he could explain to any informed person’s satisfaction what a derivative is or how a synthetic CDO comes into the world. His enthusiasts couldn’t, either. But it’s easier to traffic in conspiracy theory — which is what “rigged economy” is — than to deal with reality.
...If we want to have authentic democracy, then we have to insist that people in public life be truthful about the events and personalities of the real world. We have to tell the truth about the people who are running for president. We also have to tell the truth about bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki, Omar Abdel-Rahman, Timothy McVeigh, O. J. Simpson — and even Donald Trump.
Of course Mrs. Clinton owes Trump an apology. She owes the rest of the country an apology, too.

Are you afraid to be interesting?
Seth Godin asks today,
Are you interesting?
More interesting than you realize.
An interesting person is interesting to us because she combines two things: Truth and surprise.
The truth: Not necessarily a law of physics, not necessarily a measurable truth in nature, but merely the truth of experience. "I believe this," or "I see that."
And surprise. Note that surprise is always local. Surprising to me, the audience. That's one reason that it's said that interesting people are interested—they are empathetic enough to realize about what might be surprising to the person in the room, and they care enough to deliver on that insight.
Everyone is capable of telling the truth. And everyone has been surprising at least once.
Which means that being an interesting person is a choice. We can choose to show up, to care enough to contribute our humanity to the next interaction.
It's a choice, but a difficult one, because being interesting feels risky. People are afraid to be interesting, not unable to be interesting.
You're not born uninteresting. But it's entirely possible you've persuaded yourself to be so frightened of the consequences that you no longer have the passion, the generosity or the guts to be interesting any longer.
Without a doubt, we need your interesting.

Protecting us from truth
Good for Elizabeth Price Foley at Instapundit, who shows us how CNN and New York Times slanted reporting of Donald Trump's appearance yesterday in front of huge crowds in Mobile, Alabama.
Look, whether you’re a fan of Trump or not isn’t the point here. The point is that, love him or hate him, the man is drawing unexpectedly large crowds, which is something no other Democrat or GOP candidate is doing. When reporters can’t seem to report this simple fact accurately, we all realize (once again) that we are being treated like little children who need to be “protected” by those who think they know better.Read it here.

What is feminism in the 21st century?
Victimhood trumps fact, argument, and debate. Feminism is a weapon to intimidate anyone who fails to toe the party line. Near total disregard for the concerns of male students. A host of asymmetrical and unjust policies and practices have been put in place on university campuses.

What's the bigger story?
At National Review Quin Hillyer asks us to
Think about it. What’s the bigger story, the one that involves the more venal behavior while potentially harming the lives of more Americans: 1) a few goobers rifling through the office of the opposing political party and then having the president’s men try to cover up the petty hanky-panky; or 2) a former president and husband of the then-current secretary of state making hundreds of thousands of dollars while the couple’s foundation gets millions, in a deal approved by the former first lady’s own State Department, which results in about half of this nation’s uranium falling under the effective control of the proto-fascist, anti-American leader of the nation with the world’s second biggest store of nuclear weapons?Read more here.
The Clintons aren’t mere grifters. They are in their own level of grifter superstardom while putting all the rest of us at substantially greater risk of annihilation.
Yet much of the media covers this story with the enthusiasm of a six-year-old swallowing castor oil, and much of the public still thinks Hillary is a minor deity. A goodly number of Americans apparently are aware of the scandal yet still fall at her feet.
They likewise excuse Barack Obama’s lies about “keeping your doctor” or “keeping your insurance plan” if you like them; they see him say harsh, even nasty things about his adversaries in a way prior presidents have rarely or never done, and generally coarsen public discourse, yet they still think he’s likeable.
Behavior that once would have earned near-universal opprobrium or, in the case of the Clintons’ uranium deal, white-hot anger, now barely raises an eyebrow.
In short, we’re told that so much of what we know is good and normal is actually bad, while so much that’s objectively awful is actually no big deal or even something worth admiring.
This isn’t only modernization we’re experiencing; it’s a veritable inversion of values and decency, and of the very nature of truth.
