A CDEP release from English shoegaze/dream pop group Cranes. Released in 1993. I dig the ethereal and wispy vocals, and the extended remixes are nice to hear after wearing out the album on repeat. It's refreshing hearing alternative versions of songs that I adore, I'm sure I've mentioned before.
A popular 7" single from Italian artist Mina at the height of her career in 1966. Two high energy tracks. "Se telefonando..." is arranged by Ennio Morricone.
(Labrador – [LAB028], Hidden Agenda Records – [AHA!044], 2002) [SWE]
Summer 2025 is long gone and the days are feeling short and grey, and that's why I long again for Club 8 and their summer feelings. This 5 song CDEP has one more track that the 7" version does not have. Released in 2002 between two labels.
I earlier had posted The Sugarcubes - Birthday CDEP, but this is the 7" version. Same A-side , but a different B-side not on that CDEP. The flip side is a Remix version with Jim and William Reid of JAMC doing some guitar feedback and crooning.
Another 12" single by garage-punk band The Cramps released in 1985 on Big Beat Records. Another three sleazy tracks, as well. This time released as a single for the album "A Date With Elvis."
A 12" single by garage-punk band The Cramps released in 1981 on I.R.S. Records. Three catchy and obscene tracks! Released around the time of their album "Psychedelic Jungle" from the same year.
A split 7" between two hardcore sludge bands from the northeastern United States; Grief [from Boston] and 13 [from NYC]. Released in 1993 on Grievance Records.
A 7" single release from Brooklyn based indie band, Crystal Stilts, released in 2010 on Slumberland Records. I definitely remember playing the heck out of the title track over and over about 15 years ago when this was released.
Flux is a stoner metal band from Dallas, Texas that I really know very little about! One proper release from 1996 on Man's Ruin Records. I love kinda discovering these slightly obscure bands that release one single and disappear. I love the B-side on this one and fits into that stoner rock groove I've been in for the past month.
The first album release from Kalamazoo, Michigan garage/punk group The Spits, from the year 2000 on Nickel and Dime Records. Still have found memories hearing this one for the first time in my friend JB's car during college and being blown away, every next song sounded better and cooler than the previous. Love this album all the way through over and over again.
An unofficial 7" release by Boston hardcore group Siege from 1989 on Swiss label Off The Disk. It's a re-release of the original 1984 demo cassette tape.
A downtempo / ambient house 12" single from Antwerp, Belgium artist Sven Van Hees. Released as a single for his 1999 album 'Gemini' on the label Life Enhancing Audio. My girlfriend found this in a record store in NYC and we both dig it!
The Spotnick Candy - Love! Love! Courtney Love! 7"
(Time Bomb Records – [BOMB-08], 1992) [JP]
The first and only proper release by Japanese indie pop group The Spotnick Candy (a.k.a. Snapshot, of which they have more releases under the name Snapshot.) Released in 1992 on Japanese underground record label Time Bomb Records.
A split CDEP release from two stoner rock / doom groups Acid King and The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight. Recorded in 2000 and released in 2001 on Man's Ruin Records.
A novelty 7" single from Pee-Wee Herman (and Surf Punks!) released in support of the Frankie & Annette comeback film "Back to the Beach", in which Pee-Wee has a small cameo. Pee-Wee does a fun cover of The Trashmens' 'Surfin' Bird.' Released in 1987 on Columbia.
Another Swedish group I know very little about. This is the first proper release, and first single by Swedish group Liechtenstein. Released in 2007 on Swedish label Fraction Discs.
