Warbases.co.uk

I have always cut my own bases before, but found this web site Warbases after viewing the great bases used by Saxon Dog, he has a link up on his blog and after looking I could not think of a good reason not to give them a go.
I am very happy I did, they do all the normal size square bases but what grabbed me was the round and other shapes they do. you can see from my shots I picked up a few different bases and will be using these for my commission and up coming F.I.W stuff for black powder.
If you live in the UK or Europe and you want some bases I strongly suggest you have a look at these guys.

ECW Mad Mac Colla and bodyguard.

'The Devastator' Mac Colla & Bodyguards

This is Warlord's take on perhaps the most dangerous man in the British Isles at the time... Alasdair MacColla "The Devastator", a man who went by many names, some rarely used out loud!
This legendary Highland warrior came from the Isles and grew famous for his startling strength, size and ferocity in combat. He went on to lead the deadly Irish Brigade in most of their battles in the Highlands against the hapless forces of the Covenant, and is credited with creating the famous Highland charge.
Ferocious in battle, and sometimes needlessly cruel, this huge and frightening man inspired his men with his individual prowess with broadsword and targe. He formed a lifeguard of around one hundred and fifty men and had two , presumably hand picked bodyguards, named Dubhaltach MacPhee and Calum Mor MacInnes, armed to the teeth here as you can see in all their atavistic glory!
can be bought from here
I have finished the bases and will take these up to my Dad on Sunday (Mothers Day in UK do not forget guys)

FOW gaming tables

Another picture I found while cleaning this is a set of modular terrain I made to play FOW. It now rests in my Dad Wargames room. Made on MDF with pink insulation for hills, coverd in plaster then grit/gravel and painted the corn fields are a door mat, was greta fun to do and I learnt loads about terrain.

Bodyguard Done, Zulu War WIP 2

Well it been a slow few days for me, been under the weather. I have managed a few hours on the brush which was enough to complete the bodyguard (just bases left), and i made a good start on the Zulu war figures. I like how the flesh turned out but the trousers are a little light for my taste, I am going to leave them as is because I plan to sell these off and someone will not mind the lighter trousers I am sure.

Further work on a few projects

I had one of those productive days when you advance a few different projects. I finally did a bit more work on my Greek Bust and am almost done with the two bodyguards and I made some progress on the bases of the Zulu war figures and brushed on the primer.

Bodyguard WIP 2, plus stuff for Ebay

Well I spent another hour on these two today and am working with washes for the shade then over painting for highlight. Not sure about the look but nice to try some thing new.
I have also dug out a few things which I plan to paint and sell to get some money together (not for hobby things alas). It is my daughters 21 this year and that means a big party... I hope to pay for most of it through my commissions and Ebay.
So my first lot are these great figures from Empress miniatures they are the Hollywood version of the Rorke's drift characters, a great set . I had a few nasty mould lines to clean up for nothing to get upset about.
