Thursday is here again and it's time to do a little "pondering" with Brenda
from Fiction With a Purpose.
Her rules are really easy:
1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in her sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a
story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Go back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list on Brenda's.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!
This Week's prompt: Listening
I am a great listener. Years ago, when my dad stopped contracting and settled in Illinois, I was uprooted from my home and landed here - with my distinctly "Southern" accent. The kids at school thought it was something to be made fun of so I quickly learned to just keep my mouth shut. I also quickly learned that by keeping your mouth shut and your ears open - you can learn a lot! I've been a great listener ever since.
Not such a great reason to turn into a listener ... now adays that accent would be admired, not made fun of!
ReplyDeleteThanks for pondering with me
we need more listeners :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband grew up with a slight speech impediment due to hearing problems and pretty much had the same experience as you. He got made fun of so much that he stopped talking. Now that he works in sales he talks a lot more, but it's a whole different level of communication, and maturity!
