10 Day Nail Art Challenge: Silver & Gold

Today is the first day of a new challenge!

Today's theme is Silver & Gold. I got Zoya Song in the mail the other day and decided I had to wear it immediately. To incorporate the theme, I stamped with silver and gold snowflakes!

I used China Glaze Passion and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes for the stamping. I kinda messed up my ring finger, but overall, I liked the look :)

Zoya Song was a little disappointing. In pictures (even mine) it's looks so much more interesting on the nail. In real life, it's just a really dark blue :( You can barely tell it's a shimmer. It was also tricky to apply and really thick. Luckily it was a one-coater.

For funsies, here's a macro shot of my favorite nail :)

The Feast of the Assumption

Hey guys! Today is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. On this day we celebrate the assumption of Mary into Heaven. I decided to do my nails for the occasion because I really wanted to use my Mary stamp!

I used a blue and white color scheme, which it pretty common for anything Marian. I started with two coats of Dollish Polish Expecto Patronum. This polish is amazing! Seriously gorgeous. This is the second time I've worn it.

Then I stamped the opening words of the Hail Mary prayer (which conveniently are both four letters) with Konad M17 and M18 using Sally Hansen Thinking of Blue, which is freakin fantastic for stamping. Then I used images from Konad S3 for the praying hand and Mary on my thumb.

I really like how this turned out and it was a pretty big hit with my Catholic friends :)

Summer Challenge: Olympic Medals

This mani was all done and ready this morning, but I was too busy watching Team USA win at least one of each of these :) After a disappointing day yesterday, I think we've more than made up for it. For those of you that only watch the prime time airings, get ready for an awesome night. So proud of Team USA!!!! Any time they show an athlete cry, I lose it. And sometimes I'm just so happy for them I cry even though they aren't haha.

I went simple for this. I stamped the "O" from Konad M18 with Pure Ice Silver Mercedes, China Glaze Passion and Sally Hansen Bronze Ablaze. Then I googled the 2012 medals and realized the gold was bigger (Duh!) and had to add on to it. The ribbons for the medals are Pure Ice No Means No. I free-handed the flag with Pure Ice French Kiss and China Glaze Salsa.

I used the same stamp to make the rings and then free-handed 2012. So how are y'all enjoying the Olympics?

Summer Challenge: Olympic Opening Ceremony

As I've mentioned before, I really love the Olympics. I'm so pumped to watch the Opening Ceremony and start watching some Americans win medals! The prompt was Opening Ceremony/Flag so I did the good ole stars and stripes. I know this is practically the same as my 4th of July mani, but I really liked it.

What I love most about the Olympics is the whole nation uniting to cheers for our athletes. Usually, everyone has all sorts of crazy rivalries and get in ridiculous arguments over sports, but once every four year (if we pretend Winter Olympics don't exist) we're all on the same side and can watch sports in harmony :) And even though we're rooting for different teams, the world unites to watch one event. It's amazing.

P.S. Are the Olympic-themed commercials making anyone else cry? Like this one:

Tears. Lots of tears.

And I even broke out a new hand pose to show USA with the linear flag. Materials used: Pure Ice French Kiss, China Glaze Salsa, Sally Hansen Whirlwind White, Sally Hansen Rapid Red (for stamping), Cheeky plate CH 4, Konad plates M17 and M18.

Teal Tuesday: Dots

For this week the Teal Tuesday theme is Dots! I was dying for the winner to be dots a couple weeks ago, so I figured I'd work in bows this week ;)

I started with two coats of Finger Paints 15 Minutes of Frame. It's a green-leaning teal (bluer than the photos show). Then I did a coat of Sally Hansen Teal-y Cool for a little bit of sparkle. Finally, I stamped with Cheeky CH6 (dots) and Konad M59 (bow) and Color Club Worth the Risque.
