Zoya Pixie Dust Partial Collection Swatches!

Hello all! I've been so sad I haven't really had time to blog, but I HAD to make time for these beauties! During Zoya's Color Your World Promo, you could get 3 free polishes and pay $10 shipping or spend $25 additinally to get free shipping. I realized I could get 6 Zoyas shipped of $27 and could not pass up that deal! I took the opportunity to try out some of the new Pixie Dusts. I am head over heels in love with them!

These all dry to a sugary finish. It's a little rough, but not at all bothersome (and this coming from someone who can't handle rhinestones or caviar nails). Strangely, I didn't even think to topcoat them because I loved the sand finish. They have great application. It was incredibly easy to get onto the nail. I used 3 coats, but if you have shorter nails or aren't prone to VNL like I am, you could probably do 2 coats and be fine. Wear time is also good. I applied these, went to bed, went to school/work as usual and then came home and took pics without any evidence of wear :)

First up is Zoya Nyx. It's a gorgeous light blue that's a little dusty. It reminds me a lot of Cinderella. When I first applied these, it also reminded me a lot of flocking manicures. Or paper heat embossing. Or just colored sugar. It's really fascinating!

In the Zoya pictures on their website there are little light glints. It honestly looks like that in real life. I felt like I was a real cartoon princess while wearing these and I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!

Next up is Zoya Vespa. She's a light sagey green. Not typically my color, but the sparkles won me over.

It reminds me of crushed up jade. I don't really have words for it, but it's really gorgeous.

On to Zoya Godiva! I used to hate nudes. I was appalled anyone wanted to wear them. Then I got China Glaze Fast Track and started to appreciate nudes (especially if they were sparkly!). This polish is amazing. I really really love it.

Going on it looks a lot like CG Fast Track and then dries to that amazing textured finish I've come to love. It was subtle and gorgeous all at the same time.

All of these polishes just seem extremely classy to me. The OPI ones, while gorgeous, are a little louder and bolder and fun. All these made me feel like a classy, pretty princess :) Vespa was probably my least favorite, but I still gave it 4 stars in my stash doc. It's still really fantastic and worth owning. I can't wait to get the rest of these and I hope they make more with this finish!

Striping Tape Christmas Trees

Hi all! The other day Helen from The Nail Newbie posted a gorgeous tape tree mani using holo colors in our birthday group. I decided to try my hand at it.

I started with two coats of Jade Vermelho Surreal. It's a terrific holo, but a little too orange leaning for a Christmas mani.

Then I covered my nail with scotch and striping tape to make trees with tinsel using one of my all-time favorites: Nubar Reclaim. The pinky was supposed to be a tree with random tinsel hanging, but it's hard to tell it's a tree that small lol.

Then I added some glitter hexes I got from a pack at The Dollar Tree. They worked really well, but a couple of the blues bled a little. I still love how they look. So festive!!!

My right hand doesn't have even nails, so I don't show it very often. I made an exception because my trees looked super good and I was proud of them :) I dinged the thumb while working haha. Unfortunately I bumped another nail last night and got a nick :(

KBShimmer Wrapper's Delight

Hey guys! I'm back with another gorgeous indie Christmas polish! I think this one was the first I bought? I can't remember. It's KBShimmer Wrapper's Delight. I got distracted one night while I was praying thinking about this polish and today I got distracted in church looking at it haha. I snapped a quick pic before Mass started because the lighting in the church makes everything sparkly look soooo pretty.

The rest of the pics were taken back home in my light box. I did one layer of Wrapper's Delight over two coats of China Glaze Holly-Day. Holly-Day was frickin gorgeous and absolutely perfect underwear for this polish. It also had flawless application.

Wrapper's Delight applied pretty well too. Most nails only needed one coat. There was only a nail and a half out of all ten that needed some more dabbing for a better glitter spread. It does need a good shake before applying for that result. I just banged it against my palm a couple of times while holding it upside-down.

And the best thing about this polish? $5 of each polish goes to Toys for Tots!

And some yummy macro shots:

Wrapper's Delight is available from KBShimmer for $10 here. Check out all of her holiday polishes and get Facebook updates here. They're gorgeous!

Christmas!!!

Hey guys!!! It's officially the start of the Christmas Season! Sorry I've been too busy to blog, but I loooooove Christmas so I'm back especially for this gorgeous mani! Here's a macro of the Christmas polish I used:

It's Lush Lacquer Tree-Mendous. It's got green microglitter, pink, red, orange, yellow, and blue matte/satin glitter and gold stars. It's a Christmas tree in a bottle!

I started with two coats of Pure Ice Femme Fatale. It's a gorgeous hunter green suede with silver shimmer from their new Velour Finish Line. It's the perfect base for a Christmas tree mani, so I'll probably be using it a lot this season.

Then I topped it off with two coats of Tree-Mendous. It applied really well. I had to fish a little for stars (I wanted one on each nail) but it wasn't that frustrating. If you want a whole shower of stars, you might want to store it upside down for a little bit before applying.

This polish is absolutely perfect to get in the Christmas mood! I don't know how I'm going to take it off! IN. LOVE.

Here's a couple of macros of nails on my right hand. The first one looks like a tree with the placement of the star :) The second one is just soooo glittery!!!

So what's everyone's favorite Christmas polishes for this year?

Blogger Friends Forever: Music

For once, I was going to do today's challenge mani the night before I had to. And then tragedy struck!

I was too mad to be inspired to do anything. I've since trimmed them all down to nubbins :( Then I could not come up with anything I wanted to do. In the shower this morning Barbed Wire and Roses by Pin Monkey got stuck in my head and I remembered Bundle Monster plate BM 323.

I started with two coats of Orly It's Not Rocket Science, which is more gorgeous than I expected. Then I stamped with Sally Hansen Rapid Red and China Glaze Passion. I didn't think these colors would work super well together, but I think it turned out awesome!

My black and white mani is sloppy, so I'll be redoing it tomorrow :)

Teal Tuesday: Braided Mani

I was super excited when we voted on braided manis for this week's Teal Tuesday. The one I did before wasn't so hot and I was itching to try it again. I started with one coat of a England Galahad.

I then used a fine paint brush and painted the braids with a England Holy Grail and Sally Hansen Jumpin' Jade. These pictures are funny because I think my middle and ring finger look best in real life, but they look the worst in the pictures lol. And these pictures are doing A LOT of favors for my pinky nail. It's a hot mess in real life.

Blogger Friend Forever: Neon

Kerrie's second theme choice was neon! I love neons this summer so I was super stoked.

I alternated between Orly Fresh, which is bright but not quite neon, and Finger Paints Pop Art Purple. Then since I knew I was going to be swimming in the sun today, I decided to top it off with Jade Psicodelica because who doesn't love a holo?

To summerfy it even more, I added hibiscus flowers with Bundle Monster BM 313 and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White. So much fun! I questioned the combination of the green and purple. Before I stamped it, it reminded me of Barney or the Joker, but the stamping really helped to tone that down.

Now it's pool time with my awesome summer nails!

Blogger Friends Forever: 80s

Here we go for 80s day! Since I was only a fetus when this decade closed, I don't have any personal experience with it. I did some google and referenced The Wedding Singer for some help and came up with checkers, neons and splatter.

Checkers remind me of the 80s. Probably because of The Wedding Singer and his sheets. You mean you don't remember his sheets?! Good, you're normal. I started with a base of Pure Ice white, then stamped with Cheeky CH3 and L.A. Colors Circuits. Then I used straws to splatter with China Glaze Hang Ten Toes, Surfin' for Boys, Sun Kissed, I'm With the Lifeguard, Splish Splash and Beach Cruise-r. I was completely satisfied with my splattering and then decided to do one last blow on my thumb because it needed more purple.

That was clearly a mistake.

Adventures in Stamping: Precious Stones

On the docket for today's stamping challenge: Precious Stone. I decided to use polish names that were stones and then dress it up all classy like with some gold stamping.

I used China Glaze Emerald Sparkled and Savvy Ruby Slippers. It came out more Christmas-y than I hoped lol. I saw Emerald Sparkled on a blog last week and decided I needed it. It is gorgeous! If you don't have it, seriously, go on eBay and find it now. You need it!

Then I stamped with China Glaze Passion and Bundle Monster plate BM 312. I couldn't get it perfectly centered and straight, but I'm still pretty proud of it. If you need a good gold for stamping, get Passion. Go add it to your Emerald Sparkled order on eBay. You're welcome. (<-- reference to Awkward.. Not being rude ;) )

Rainbow Favorites: Green

Now it's time for green! My favorite green is Nubar Reclaim. Soooo gorgeous. I've shown it on the blog before so I just took pics of it after I added stamping.

I stamped with Bundle Monster BM 301 and Color Club Love 'Em and Leave 'Em. I love this stamp! It's a really cool gradient that is less messy than a sponge and super fast :)

Ahhhhh look at that holo goodness! If you don't have Reclaim, you really really need it!

Summer Challenge: Blue/Green/Aqua

I'm finally doing another Summer Challenge mani! I looove these colors together so I was excited to play around with these.

I used China Glaze Gaga for Green, First Mate and Aquadelic. Gaga for Green is a fabulous apple green jelly. It only took two coats for opacity. Amazing. These are the kinds of colors that make me love China Glaze.

I freehanded the dots and stripes with dotting tools and striping brushes. this was super simple, but I really enjoyed the end result :) Also, I apologize for the lack of cleanup on the index nail. I didn't notice it until now. And for my cuticles! I feel like Colorado is sucking all moisture from my body!

Summer Challenge: Jungle Mani

Today's challenge prompt was Jungle or Parrots. Birds seriously freak me out, so I opted for jungle :) Also I had a bunch of greens sitting in my untrieds and I decided to knock them out :)

My goal was to make it look like a wet and lush rainforrest. I started with two coats of Sinful Colors HD Nail, then added the following glitters: Orly Here Comes Trouble, Love & Beauty small green glitter (L.A. Girl Purge dupe) and then a sparse green glitter with huge hexes. I loved this a lot! So dang sparkly!

Then to make it more Jungle-ly (or Jungle-like) I stamped with CND Green Scene and fauxnad plate M72. This green was too close to the layers under it and didn't really add anything :/

Finally I added the last layer of leaves with Bundle Monster plate BM19 and Sally Hansen Just In Lime! This is one of my favorite stamps of all time and why I ordered this Bundle Monster set first :) Although the leaves are kinda hard to see, I still really like this mani :)
