final result for PINK RIBBON !

"Pinktober" 2024
is over for a good week
in which I finished a few extra Textile Jewels
and sent all of them on their way to their new owners !
(two more in the mail on Monday)

It always takes a bit of time
before I can announce it :
the final result for my
Pink Ribbon Challenge
of this October !

I know
I worked hard for it myself
but I wouldn't have been able to reach this

Today, 56 years ago
(when we were still very young)
we said "YES"
Time flew and now we're here
but it's still "YES"

Because it's so much more autumn and colder,
the central heating makes short work of wet felt
that's a plus now.

So no coincidence that,
when I found two water soluble stitched hearts
(in the same bag as the snowflake)
I knew exactly when and on what to use them !

a machine stitched fabric collage on the second,
with seed beads on the edge,
on a textile bead and with an adjustable homemade cord

giveaway at last

I already said
that November is slow for me
but now I'm picking up the pace again !

The last Stitch Club workshop
by Ali Ferguson
who told us (in her wonderful Scottish accent) how to make a book from scratch.
(I'm busy, but am not able to show anything : gifts in the making)

I also knitted socks as a present for a dear old friend
(and she doesn't know yet . . .)

And at last there was time to work on the

Ten years of blogging went by
but I had to postpone this celebration
because I was simply TOO busy
with my Textile Jewels for Pink Ribbon.

It all started (after reading / following lots of blogs about art and stitching)
with a leap of faith to participate in Jude Hill's online class
"Patchwork Beasts"
Someone in that wonderful stitching community convinced me
that blogging was easy-peasy . . .
(and the rest is history !)

There are hearts, one with an indigo dyed striped moon,
on a piece of break-down-printed sturdy cotton,
rainbow kantha stitched,
and a bit of my "magic thread".

You can probably understand why I had to "borrow"
Jude's black-and-white nine patch :
she is the source !

day 26

When you look back

it's hard to imagine

that 52 years ago

we were

(officially)

together

Many happy times

and of course a few bumps along the road

but still happy being a team

So why not make it a special Jewel for this day

that shows as much

"TOGETHER" 

Our Ginkgo is at its brightest

but the wind ends it all too soon

.......

wordless wednesday

little red hearts

After I made the little blue wet felted hearts

I made some red too.

Slowly slowly

are they being stitched,

some beads added and a loop

for a (key) ring

This one will be on its way soon

(to where ? that's still a surprise,

someone will find it in her mailbox)

The first one finished and the second one also nearly done

Two sides of the second one

I think, next I will be assembling the parts

for a necklace.

I made these bits months ago

(when I was making the "rainbow pots")

but never came to finish it.

I'll have to make a felted cord

and then stitch it all together

with some beads probably and embroidery.

2 - 2 - 15 ..... felting excange

I know, I know,

I was late (again)

But I already phoned Helma,

telling her that the little felted piece "HEARTS" would arrive soon.

When the (postcard size) piece for her was dry

I could start with the embroidery

which  (as I 've said before)

is really fun on felt !!!

Because I chose turquoise/blue for the piece

I thought it was nice to embroider with contrast colours.

The whitish hearts btw are made with cotton batting

under silk chiffon, which works like a resist.

Because

I was in fact too late sending my piece,

I tried to make it up to her and made something extra :

(When the little extra heart was finished with a key ring

I was so eager to send it all off 

that I forgot to make a last picture)

I hope she likes it.

In fact making the heart was so much fun 

that I couldn't resist making a few more

;-)

baby stitches

Our days (and nights !)

are still filled with "a lot of baby"

Though we worry about various things

he grows like cabbage

(that's all he has to do isn't it ?)

When I see and smell one of my fresh "New Dawn" roses

I think of our new little grandson

sweet !

And in between all the hassle and bustle

I find bits of time

to do some stitches on the little "lots of love" cloth

little bits of fire for the fireman

this one is for Mo Crow's interest

There was also time for some mending and washing

......

someone cut of the ribbons of this woolen baby shirt 

so I put on some new ones that I found in my stash

and ten year old "Maisy" clean again

but still dripping !!!
