Black Friday Shopping with the CCEE

Now....onto today's challenge......

This is Frances' last week as our November hostess of the CCEE Stamper's Challenge.  Here is her challenge for the team (and YOU  if you would like to play along with us).....

Today is Thanksgiving in the USA and tomorrow is Black Friday. Many will be taking advantage of the sales. Create a card with a shopping theme, the card must also include the color black on it somewhere.

Obviously, I had no problems with the black part of the challenge.  I make very few cards without at least a touch of black somewhere.  The shopping theme was a bit more tricky, but then I remembered this old stamp I had bought at Michael's eons ago.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  I added a lot of piercing, some dp, and brads.

Two Challenges in ONE......

This card is for my two Thursday challenges.....

Stampin B's -- Lois challenged us to make a square b'day card with piercing.
CCEE Stampers -- Charlene found a site of fun facts.  This is the one she shared with us for this week........ "The best time for a person to buy shoes is in the afternoon. This is because the foot tends to swell a bit around this time."   The keyword of SHOES was chosen to inspire us.

Well.....I went right to my fav polka dotted heels by Verve.  There was a day that I used to wear shoes like this every day......now I am a Birkie girl!!!!  I used one of the sentiments from the same set, and kept the birthday sentiment for the inside.  I used some SU ribbon, my Spellbinder fancy die, my corner rounder (which I use so much that I need to sharpen it up with some aluminum foil soon....lol!!!)  I, of course, did the required paper piercing and finished it off with a touch of bling.  Truly a girly card.

CCEE and Stamping B's Challenges and MFP Blog Hop Enticement

I am pleased to share this card with you today.  I used the newly released set GRANDMA'S BOUDOIR, by Mark's Finest Papers.  This set includes several images and sentiments, all with a vintage, feminine flair.

This is my combined card for my CCEE Challenge and the Stampin B's Challenge.

We are all entering a time of bright blue skies (for us, spring….for Hoots and others in the Southern Hemisphere, fall).  So I challenged the CCEE team to  make MONOCHROMATIC cards with BLUES  (neutrals allowed).

Faith is our hostess for the Stampin B's this week and she challenged us to use bling.

I have to say that I just love how this card turned out....I don't say that too often....but I just love the blues and the bling.......

Sit Back and Relax....A Few to Share Today

This first card was done for the Stampin B's Challenge this week.  Emily is our hostess, and she wanted us to use a banner on our card.  Well, to be honest, I am not a banner person....so I struggled a bit.....AND then I saw this Martha Stewart heart punch sitting on my stampcave table and ......VOILA!!!.......and honestly I can say that I love the way it turned out AND I might even try a banner again.  So, thanks Emily, for making me work out of my comfort zone.  That is one of the great things about being a part of a challenge team!!!

This simple penguin card was made for the CCEE Stampers Challenge.  Frances is our hostess this month, and apparantly today is Penguin Awareness Day, and since we have a penguin fan in our group, she challenged us to make a card with a penguin or two.

My image is by Penny Black, while my sentiment is from a retired SU set.

This third card is part of a commitment I made to a Teapot Tuesday challenge.  A couple of weeks ago our destination station was a teenage girl who is battling cancer with a yearlong chemotherapy journey ahead of her.  I have signed up as part of a group who will send her cards each month to help cheer her along on her journey.

The image and sentiment on this card is by Mark's Finest Papers from the set called Sew What.

This fourth card was done for yesterday's Sketch Challenge on SCS.  I have been playing with these digi images by Delicious Doodles.  Of course this pulled at my heart because it looks very much like my Pepper, our Cairn Terrier.  I decided to make some Valentine's for family members from the dog.  This is another fabulous sketch by Rox, the hostess of the Sketch Challenge on SCS.  The sentiment and translation is computer generated.

This last card for today is again a card I did for the Sketch Challenge on SCS.  I just had to make this card because it totally expresses my feeling about winter.  We have had snowstorm after snowstorm followed by ice/sleet/freezing rain and then more snow.  I want spring to come so I can retire the shovel/snowblower/ice scraper.

These wonderfully hilarious image and sentiment are by Totally Stampalicious.  Their stamps just make me happy!!!!

I used a fabulous new set from GinaK Designs for this 'mitten' card.  I was totally influenced to buy it because it matches the fabulous mitten Spellbinders dies.  And....they work so perfectly together.  I really wanted to get them as cutwork is a real challenge to me because of my weak peepers.  And I am thrilled with the results!!!  Anyhooooo.....I started with the mittens and then just 'built' this card. 

I used a Martha Stewart large snowflake punch, a McGill smaller snowflake punch, a Martha Stewart border punch, an SU oval punch, and some Nestabilities.  The rest I am sure you can see for yourself.

I must first apologize for my photo.  No matter what I did, that bow POPS much more than it does in real life.  The bow actually, in real life, matches the bow on the bear's neck and the base card, but the photo program kind of 'smashes' its color in your face.

Anyhooooooooooooo......I used one of my fav SU retired sets, Button Bear, to make my baby card, which is obviously intended for a baby girl.  I used a Marvy decorative corner punch as well as a Marvy corner rounder.  The border punch is by Martha Stewart, while the ribbon is from SU.

A Fashionable Challenge with da Mudda

You will have to go to da Mudda's Blog or SCS Teapot Tuesday Challenge to read 'da whole story'. 

I used a VERVE set to create this card.  I just love these spiked heels, with their fab polka dots -- however, I LOVE them to LOOK at, not to WEAR....lol!!!

This card will be making its way to Abby, a 15 year old who is facing a year full of chemo treatment for a rare form of cancer.  She has already faced cancer before....as an 18 month old she had a tumor removed.  I have decided to join a group of stampers who will be showering Abby with cards throughout the coming year, letting her know that our thoughts and prayers are with her every day.

If you have some time, you could make a card for Abby too.  What do you think???  Isn't THIS the true spirit of the holidays....or of every day for that matter????

Mojo Monday on Tuesday AND Mudda's Tea Party

This first card I'm sharing is for the Mojo Monday Sketch this week.  The stamps used are from VERVE.



This second one is for the Muddamark's Tea Party.  We are sending the cards to a fellow Tea Partier's son who is deployed overseas.  He works with computers, so I decided to play with this fun set from MFT....My Favorite Things.

This third card was created with Whipper Snapper stamps (aren't they sweet??)  The card was made for a challenge....but then I made another card and never uploaded this one.....so there ya have it.

On the home front, I am happy to say that the Big Brown truck should be bringing my brand spanking new computer to replace my fried main one.....hopefully in the next hour or so.  Then, I will 'patient'y' wait for my sister (my inhouse computer geek) to get things up and running.  May take a week or so to get it done, but who am I to complain......!!!!!!

Did go swimming this morn....this was the first day I truly felt that chill of fall after swimming in the indoor heated pool......which means it all goes downhill into winter from here......but I will put up with it cuz when I am swimming or near the ocean, I truly find tranquility!!!

Getting Sketchy with Verve

Sketches and ISC Release Catch Up

I had so many posts this week that I seem to be doing mulitple card posts each day.  Today I am catching up on cards made for a couple of reasons, but not yet posted.

This first one uses a stamp sheet called Destination, released Friday by Innovative Stamp Creations.  It is the back panel image on this card.  The front image is also available from ISC.  I love travel and the sea so it was the perfect blending of images for me.

This next one is a pure drama card created using Roxie's sketch from Wednesday's challenge on SCS.  The only stamping was the sentiment.  The rest is created from a paper pack of designer paper.

This third one is from the same sketch challenge, but was also done for Mothermark's tea party challenge.  In real life the shoes sparkle a bit from the use of a red sparkle pen.  Just love this sentiment.  All stamps used are from There She Goes Clear Stamps.

Shoes....Shoes.....Shoes!!!

For the whole 'shoe' story, you really should go here.  In a sentence, the Tea Party ladies this week are providing stylin' shoes for our girl.

I must say, however, that I was just shocked at just how many shoe stamps I have.  I really do not have a shoe fetish or anything.  I actually wear very practical shoes in my recent years compared to the heels I used to wear daily while trying to convince middle schoolers that education was really important!!!  Anyhoo.....these two cards display just some of the shoe related stamps I found after reading this week's story.

She's a Lady with Sass.....

I just decided to play around with this image from There She Goes' She's a Lady set. So far I have only used the shoe and the sentiments from this set. Figured I should try one with the 'lady'.

Had a busy early day today with doctor's appointment, bloodwork, and a hair cut. Now I get to have some fun!!!!

Shoe Shopping Inspired

Two pillows with shoes on them inspired this card for the SCS Inspiration Challenge today. I used the She's A Lady set from There She Goes for the image and sentiment. The funny thing is that I have not worn a pair of heels like this for years. I used to wear them all the time, but now my normal shoes are sneaker clogs or Birkies. Anyhow.....this card pretty much shows how it was put together. I did use my Nesties to cut out the heels and their mats, my SU piercing kit, and my CB. I used two Paper Shaper punches and a Prima along with a fancy brad to create the flower.

After a lazy morning, I actually made two other cards this afternoon in the workshop. I'll share those with you later. I think I will go out for a short walk, or maybe not....we shall see!!!

Today was a day of beautiful blue skies, warm (actually HOT) sunshine......a day when one should be walking along the beach. Guess I will have to close my eyes and do it in my dreams!!
