Eternal Sunshine

Image
“How happy is the blameless vestal’s lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each pray’r accepted, and each wish resign’d” ~  Alexander Pope A new painting has formed under my brush,  filled with dreams, imaginings and thoughts. It's called 'Eternal Sunshine' and is painted on 7 x 5 inch canvas board and is now for sale in my Etsy shop at $40 (£25.52) +p&p. Have you seen the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ? Lots have been written about this multi-faceted film but to me it's a film about how true feelings stay, no matter if the memories have been erased. It's a good film! Thankyou for looking, have a lovely weekend.xx ♥

Illustration Friday: Midsummer Night

Image
I've finished my painting of a magic garden. This week's theme for Illustration Friday is 'Midsummer Night' so I thought I'd put it together with a night background to produce a midsummer night! Shall I show you the original painting I made? It has a very different feel to it and I've used gold and silver pens on the watercolour - great fun to do! I'm thinking of offering it for sale on Ebay. I'll let you know when I do. :)

A Mermaid Finds Her Home

Image
Do you remember the bath panel I painted with a picture of a mermaid? It's fixed into place now and here it is. I've put several layers of clear varnish on it so it'll stand the wear and tear of family life hopefully! Last night we saw the film Séraphine . It's based on the life of the little known artist Séraphine Louis, known as "Séraphine de Senlis" Born in Northern France in 1864, she came from an extremely poor background and in the film we see her in the early days collecting materials for painting where she can; blood from the butcher's, wax from the church candles. It's a beautifully made film and well worth watching! Séraphine in 1920 Les grappes de raisin 1930 © Adagp, Paris 2008 Collection Dina Vierny CLICK HERE if you'd like to read more about her.

My Giveaway Ends Tomorrow!

Image
Don't forget my print giveaway finishes tomorrow when I'll take all the names of you who commented HERE and have a draw to see who wins 3 free prints of the paintings of your choice :o) I'm having a bad morning and managed to kill my laptop with my clumsiness, so I'm on the main family computer and have posted a picture I did a while back instead of a fresh new one hot off the page! I went to see the film Micmacs last night, I'd recommend it to any fans of automata . Here's the trailer: I find automata fascinating to watch. There's something quite eery about the movement that almost seems human. One place I would absolutely LOVE to visit is the Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre but it's in Glasgow, a long way from where we live.....oh one day......!

I'd rather Have Seen This

I love the Mighty Boosh so I was very excited to go to see the new film Bunny and the Bull. Not what I'd hoped, oh well, back to watching old Boosh dvd's!

Pretend and Real

This little film's only just over a minute long but it's what Paula Rego says about 'pretending and real' that strikes a chord with me! Oh my goodness me it's so hot again today isn't it?

Jared's Film

A film my son Jared made one afternoon for school, starring my youngest daughter Carenza. You get to see my house and garden too! I was half way through decorating the bathroom when he filmed this so didn't get the chance to tidy up, in fact I didn't even know he was filming until we watched it a few days later! Excuse the title, it must be teenage angst. ;)

Transported Away to Gaelic Scotland

Image
We rented a lovely film last night called SEACHD: The Inaccessible Pinnacle . I remembered reading about it on Rima's blog a few months ago. Thankyou Rima!x It's in gaelic with english subtitles which can be a bit daunting at first but before I knew it, I was instantly drawn into the land of storytelling. I'd highly recommend it! Yesterday I finished the Wedding Invitation. Thankfully they've seen it and liked it, so I'm very pleased!
