Trerice and Watercolour Pages.

It's the May Bank Holiday, time for a day out so on the way to visit our Middle Daughter we visited a National Trust house in Cornwall called Trerice . It was bright and sunny and the garden looked beautiful. The scent of lavenders filled the air and made me want to have even more at home in the garden than I have already. If I could take a picture of the aroma to show you here I would have. It did cross my mind! 😉   We had a quick look around the house, I loved the bathroom wallpaper! Isn't it lovely?!  I enjoyed the room with all the embroideries too. I liked the stitched pictures decorating a mirror frame, such a lovely idea. I'd like to think that I'll make something similar one day. Don't hold you breath on that one though! 😉 I would have taken a photo of the cream tea we had but it was a bit of a rush at the end because it was time to go and meet her from work. 💙 So here are my most recent sketchbook pages. An April Shower of Creations

Image
Well those April showers are in full force today! So what have I been doing on this very wet day? Well apart from decorating the bathroom that's been in dire need of repainting for far too long, here are some recent creations of mine. I've finished making a crocheted cover for my old chair. I love making these colourful granny squares! And here are a few pages from my sketchbook that I've done recently. watercolour black pen watercolour and black pen acrylic background and Posca pens and finally, this one below was done with an acrylic background, with the addition of  Prismacolor pencils for the girls' faces and hands and a few squiggles of my Posca pens for the dresses and flowers. As you can tell if you look closely this is the last page of my current art journal. I don't like to waste a nice inside cover when it can be covered in paint and made pretty! xx

Easter Break

Image
I'm crocheting a new seat cover for an old chair in lovely bright colours. If the cushion on the left looks familiar, you might remember the watercolour painting I did a of these ladies eating ice-creams a while back. This cushion is available from my Society6 shop if you'd like to see. :) It was a gloriously sunny day here on Good Friday. Spring has definitely sprung! I'm looking forward to my tulips blooming. They're my favourites.   So all there's left,  is for me to say Happy Easter! xx

Silver Strands

First of all an apology to those of you I've confused with my new blog. I've decided to return to this one as it's the one you all know (and hopefully love !) Normal posting will resume here and I'm planning to post much more regularly than I have in the past. So what have I been up to?  At the weekend we found ourselves near Castle Combe .  It's a very pretty village in south of the cotswolds in Wiltshire and has been used as a film location for various films: Doctor Doolittle, Warhorse and one of my favourite films, Stardust. A path in the churchyard led us to the very beautiful hotel there, the Manor House Hotel. This picture shows just a small section of the building. I love the rooftops with all their finials and gables. There's something about old rooftops that intrigues me, no idea why but I could stare at them for ages. Back at home I've been continuing with my morning doodles,  this one is based on the image ...
