Big Ole Bow

Hi and welcome!  Today's card uses Jacquie's sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and I have to admit, this sketch had me thinking.  When I first saw it, I immediately wanted to do some form of Mondrian design with dies, but I didn't have the right sizes of dies and it just became too hard, so it was back to the drawing board.  Then I saw the sketch in a whole new light and decided it was perfect for a big bow and that's what I did.

This image is a digi from Power Poppy and I printed it out and coloured it with Copics before die-cutting it to suit the position of the sketch.  Once that was done I gold-embossed the sentiment onto a black tag and added it with white cotton, piercing a tiny hole in the coloured image to hold the cotton.

I didn't add any other embellishments and I think this is the least amount of Copics I have ever used in one sitting!

Thanks for visiting.  Coincidentally, Color Hues are looking for red and black for their current challenge so I'm going to link up there.

Birthday Rascal

Hi and welcome.  Narelle Farrugia is our sketch hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches this week and I took the liberty of rotating her sketch 90 degrees to enable my images to all fit.

I had just received this set and wanted to try my Copic colouring again.  The last attempt really knocked any confidence I had so I have been reluctant to try again.  This isn't perfect by any means and my blending needs some work, but it's better than the last attempt, so I'll take it!  I really need to take some time off work and just spend it in the craft room!

After colouring and die-cutting the images, I set to work on the polaroids.  I die-cut them from white cardstock and used some stencils and distress ink to add a bit of colour to the background.

I then assembled the polaroids and after stamping the sentiment on a white card base, I arranged them haphazardly to look like scattered polaroids.  I finished with a pink enamel heart to match the flower colour.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the design team!

Hi and welcome.  Today's card is for the latest Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge  where I went right down the centre with Slimline-Stenciling-Fishing to come up with this masculine card.

I stenciled the circles onto a mini-slimline card base and then added the stamped, Copic-coloured and die-cut elements.  Finally I finished with a stamped sentiment and called it done!

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll have time to play along!

Oval Flowers

It's time for another challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is Jen Brum.  And here's my card:

Can I just say up-front that I am embarrased by this card.  It will probably never see the light of day again 😆  I decided to do some Copic-colouring for the first time time in almost two months and, boy, am I rusty!  I really, really don't like how this image came out but time was against me so it is what it is.  After colouring the image, I used my Scan n Cut to cut it out.  Onto a Peacock card base I added some woodgrain paper I cut with the Torn Edges die.  I then added the coloured image and finished with a pre-hot foiled sentiment.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the design team.  And please send good vibes to the universe that I get my missing mojo back soon - it's been months!

Hi!  It's my turn to design the sketch this week at Freshly Made Sketches and here's the card I made with it:

This card was made for my daughter to give to our vets who facilitated the open-heart surgery on her puppy.  I coloured the pup to look as much like Altezza as I could and used a colour combo from Colour Cubes.

Thanks so much for visiting.  The rest of the design team have made some fabulous cards so I hope you'll check then out.

Lavish Lilies

Hi!  I'm back with another card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge where this week our hostess is Jen Mitchell.  I thought it was about time I did some Copic colouring so chose a MFT Colour Challenge and one of their red rubber floral images (since retired, I think) to come up with this card.

Trying to match Ripe Raspberry with Copic markers was a bit of a challenge and I think I went a bit bright, but it was the closest match I could get.  I didn't spend too long to colour this as I'm impatient, and once it was done I used my Scan N Cut to cut it out.

Onto a white card base I added a panel of Eiffel Tower cardstock that I had run through with a Window Slats 3D embossing folder and then added a scalloped strip cut from Ripe Raspberry cardstock.

I finished with a white-embossed sentiment.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Create Happiness

Hi and welcome!  Today's Freshly Made Sketch was designed by Cecile Ribon and I have to admit I went a big rogue and miniaturised and re-layered the sketch to make my card.

My original thought when I saw the sketch was to use washi for the strips, but then I had the idea of these miniature dies from MFT.  I was going to use the Copic markers dies for the strips but then couldn't work out the "leaves" from the sketch.  So I went with the paint brush, tubes and palette which sort of matches the sketch but in miniature plus the strips are on top.

I purchased the Colour Cubes last week and while I'm still waiting on the physical product I do have the PDF and I used that to come up with my colour scheme.  It's refreshing to step outside my normal colours for a change! For anyone interested, I used colour palette 098 for this card.

Everything except the silver foil elements was cut from white cardstock and coloured/shaded with Copic markers.  Once it was assembled I arranged the elements to as closely match the sketch as possible.  Because everything was so much smaller than the sketch, I added a layer of cardstock behind the elements onto which I stamped the sentiment.

I finished with some pearls and a clay heart.  Thanks so much for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Stamps:  Crafty Life (Altenew)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  White, Ballet Slippers (C+9), silver matte foil cardstock

Accessories:  Copics, Seafoam Pearls (Pretty Pink Posh), white clay heart

Blue Cup

Hi!  I'm playing along with the new challenge at Color Hues where they are looking for light blue and navy colourways.

I had the idea to Copic-colour a coffee cup in navy blue and put it in a light-blue background so that's what I did.

I'm trying to be a bit more creative in staging my photos.  It probably won't last once I get back to work and time becomes an issue, but for now, it's quite good fun to come up with layouts.

Funnily, I had originally planned to have the ink-blending and cup in the upper portion of the card, but I did my ink-blending with the card base upside down and had to improvise - so bottom right it is 😄

After ink-blending Salvaged Patina Distress Ink, I masked off the rest of the card base and spattered on some white acrylic paint.  Once that was dry, I stamped the sentiment and added the Copic-coloured cup and saucer which has my favourite beverage - black coffee (second favourite is green tea, but that didn't work with the sentiment!)

Thanks so much for visiting!  For once, I could actually fit all the Copics used in my hand so here they are if anyone is interested.

Stamps:  Coffee and Tea (SSS)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Amalgam (Gina K), Salvaged Patina Distress Ink

Minty Christmas

Hi it’s time for another sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and our sketch hostess this week is Judy Rozema.

The background was stamped with Lost Shadow DOX ink on white and a strip was stamped with Versamark onto Fog cardstock and white heat-embossed.  I then layered the gray panel onto the background and added two strips of black on either side.  The main image was Copic-coloured and die-cut and I added it to an ink-blended panel with foam tape.

The sentiment was stamped in the same ink colour as the background panel and an inked panel was cut for the second banner layer.  For the stitched part of the sketch, I decided to die-cut some scalloped borders and layer them.  Again, I used the same ink in a direct-to-paper technique.

Thanks for visiting!  Please check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Stamps:  Holly Jolly BG (Honey Bee), Letter to Santa (MFT)

Brrrthday

Hi and welcome!  This is the last card I got to make as part of my week off work.  I used the colour challenge from Addicted to CAS, the Anything Goes challenge at Seize The Birthday as well as the Cold cue word at Inkspirational to come up with this card.

I stamped, Copic-coloured and die-cut the images and then arranged them onto a strip of black cardstock.  I did this partly because black was one of the challenge colours and also because it's a CAS theme and I didn't want to busy it up with a scene in the background.  I quite like the way the images pop off the black.

I stamped a sentiment onto a white cardbase, then adhered the black panel.  I added some clear sparkle pen on all the pom-poms and called it done.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Gingerbread

Hi and welcome.  This week for the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge I went down through the centre with Fun Fold-Gingerbread-Any Holiday to come up with this bridge card:

I'm not much of a fun-fold card-maker but these bridge cards are pretty easy, so that's what I started with. I added some plaid patterned paper and set it aside to work on my gingerbread men and sentiment.

I stamped, Copic-coloured and cut the gingerbread men and then white-embossed a sentiment onto a panel of Sno Cone cardstock before die-cutting it with a fancy rectangle die.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Products used:

Stamps:  Gingerbread Cookies (Mama Elephant), Star Snowflake Sentiments (Waffle Flower)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K.), Versamark
Cardstock:  White, X-Press It, So Cone (MFT), Perfectly Plaid Winter (Lawn Fawn)
Dies:  Hemstitch Rectangle (Spellbinders)
Accessories:  Copics, White EP

Village Scene

Hi!  Today's card uses the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches where our designer this week is Jacquie Southas.  I had great intentions of using the pinwheel set from The Greetery for my card, but it wasn't working out, so I decided to flip the sketch upside down and came up with this card.

I bought this die set last year when it was released and this is the first time I've used it.  I've come to the conclusion that I prefer die-cutting all the elements from white cardstock and adding colour - this time with Copics.  I created the various elements and arranged them on a panel of white cardstock die-cut with a snow drift die.  Once that was completed, I stamped a sentiment and then set it aside to work on the card base.

I placed a moon mask onto the card base and ink-blended various distress inks on the card.  Once that was finished I flicked on some white paint and put it aside to dry.

Once it was all dry, I added the buildings with foam tape and called it done.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Please check out how the rest of the design team used the sketch.

Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Black Soot, Chipped Sapphire, Faded Jeans, Stormy Sky Distress Ink
