Monochromatic and Masculine

This is my second post today.  Scroll down for my Apothecary Art card.

The color challenge at Dynamic Duos this week is Basic Black and Basic Gray, with a dessert option of a masculine card.  I thought these colors would work nicely with the sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday, which was a color-blocking card.

I dug out some old retired Halloween paper, called Ghostly Greetings and an old retired set called Celebrate Everything.  Some not-so-old but still retired ribbon rounded out the card.

LOL it looks like this card has been photographed in B&W, but I can assure you it's color!

I white-embossed the word "celebrate" onto one of the pieces of DSP.  The dots on the bottom right are part of the pattern.  The scalloped border was paper-pierced and the soda pop top is a white-embossed bee on Basic Black cardstock.

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Stamps:  Celebrate Everything; Collage Curios
Cardstock:  Basic Black; Whisper White; Ghostly Greetings DSP
Ink:  Versamark
Accessories:  White EP; Stiped Satin Ribbon; Large Scallops Edgelit; Soda Pop Tops; 1/2" circle punch

Bunny Balloon

I've had fun making cards over the weekend, this was the third one I made in one day - which is unusual for me!  This card is for the challenge at SUO Challenges, which is to make an Easter or Spring card and the sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday.

Even though I don't send Easter cards, I just love this Everybunny set.  I stamped the balloon image onto watercolor paper twice and colored in with blender pen and ink.  I then punched out one image using the 2 1/2" circle punch and cut out the balloon only from the second image, which was then adhered to the main image.

The flowers are left over from a dye-ing session I had earlier today where I dyed some flower trim using water and Lucky Limeade reinker in a spritzer bottle.

I think this card would have looked so much better with the Clouds Embossing Folder but alas, I don't have it (yet!).

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Stamps:  Everybunny
Cardstock:  Very Vanilla; Watercolor; Festival of Prints DSP; Lucky Limeade
Ink:  Lucky Limeade; Daffodil Delight; Island Indigo; Soft Suede; Going Gray; Black Stazon
Accessories:  Flower Trim

Edited to Add:  This card was a top pick at SUO Challenges this week.  Thanks guys!

Cajun Flower

Here's a quick card I made on Sunday night.  It's for this week's Dynamic Duos challenge colors of Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke and the gorgeous Sketch Frenzy Friday sketch.

I made the flower using the Blossom Punch and the 5-petal Flower Punch.  After I punched the shapes I separated the layers to create the Faux Suede look.  Lots of spritzing and scrunching to end up with the flower you see on the card.  I put my scungy, well-used cutting plate on the wrong side of the Little Leaves Sizzlet and ended up with cut mark impressions on the side of the leaf I wanted showing, so I decided to put it through the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to hide those ugly marks!  I quite like the added texture.

Thanks for looking.

Products used (all Stampin' Up!):

Stamps:  Curly Cute
Cardstock:  Whisper White; Cajun Craze; Always Artichoke; Basic Black
Ink:  Always Artichoke
Accessories:  Tasteful Trim Die; Blossom Punch; 5 petal Flower Punch; Square Lattice EF; Antique Brad

Edited to Add:  This card was awarded an Honorable Mention at Dynamic Duos.  Thanks, guys!

Mixed Bunch

I got Mixed Bunch and the co-ordinating punch in my last order and today was the first time I got to use them.

I combined the color challenge at Create with Connie & Mary with the sketch challenge at Sketch Frenzy Friday and came up with this card:

Tell you what, doing color challenges has really highlighted to me how many colors I don't use!  Pumpkin Pie is one of those colors, so I used the smallest amount possible LOL.

I stamped the flower onto Whisper White and punched it out.  I then took a Pumpkin Pie marker and colored in the center.  For the sentiment, I used Basic Gray and Real Red markers and my Stamp-a-majig.  The end is shaped using the Modern Label Punch.

Here are the challenge details:

Thanks for looking.

Stamps:  Mixed Bunch; Bring on the Cake

French Foliage

I had some time this weekend to use the sketch from Sketch Frenzy Friday to make a card.  Here's the sketch I worked with:

And here is my card, using French Foliage and lots of sponging:

I really think my favorite cards to make are masculine, which I know is unusual.  Maybe it's because I don't have to fuss with them too much.  Of course it helps that my favorite colors are those that are traditionally used for masculine cards.

Products used:

Stamps:  French Foliage; Something to Celebrate; Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel
Cardstock:  Early Espresso; Always Artichoke; Cherry Cobbler; Crumb Cake
Ink:  Early Espresso; Always Artichoke; Cherry Cobbler; Crumb Cake; Basic Black
Accessories:  Sponges; Linen Thread; Mini Library Clip

CAS Circle Circus

While I had out the colors from The Paper Players color challenge, I thought I'd play along with Sketch Frenzy Friday.

I stamped one of the images from Circle Circus on Certainly Celery; Pool Party and Not Quite Navy cardstock, which I then punched out with my 1" square punch.  I rounded opposite corners on each square.  I arranged these onto Whisper White cardstock, raising a couple of squares with dimensionals.

Edited to add:  it wasn't until I was cleaning up my desk, that I realised I had pulled Night of Navy cardstock instead of Not Quite Navy.  Apologies to the Paper Players team!

Here are the challenge details:

Stamps: Circle Circus; Petite Pairs
Cardstock:  Whisper White; Pool Party; Certainly Celery; Not Quite Navy
