SSCS 2009

Look what I got in the mail the other day!
My Secret Santa Christmas Swap parcel arrived, all
the long way from Australia!
My secret santa was Cheryl.
She is one of the very talenteded designers
Inside the big parcel I found three other parcels,
and I was allowed to open one of them!
Look what I got!
I got this beautiful heart ornament, which is so
beautifully and perfectly stitched!
Thank you, Cheryl!
I love it!Now I have to be a good girl and not open the other
two gifts before christmas eve.
But I assure you, it will not be easy,
so I have put them away so that I
cannot see them...
...until christmas eve!

Wish you all a happy advent!

Better later, than never...?

Better later, than never...
I hope so!
Well, here are some more photos from the cruise
on Hurtigruten with Siw, Quiltegaarden, Gail and Leanne!
Get prepared for a heavy photopost!
This basket was greeting me when I entered my cabin...
...filled to the brim with patterns, fabrics, floss etc...
...lots of great stuff for a quilter/stitcher!
Thank you Siw!
After a wonderful lunch, we went to our classroom...
Anne Marie got this coat for beeing a...

Both Gail and Leanne had tons of projects for us to work on...
...but sadly I didn't get much done the first afternoon...
...the sea wasn't calm at all...
...yes, I got seasick :-( ...
But the rest of the cruise went fine!

A quilter need not only vitamin-Q,
she needs real food as well!
We had some great meals, with great company!
It wasn't only Gail and Leanne who were teaching on the cruise...
...Ann, better known as AnnAKa, was teaching some
ladies in the back of the classroom,
using vintage tablecloths, napkins, ribbons and laces,
and phototranfers...
The whole group!

Arriving Tromsø...

Anita and I had to say goodbye in Tromsø, while
the others went by bus to Ann's
place to see some sami's and have dinner in a sami tent...
I've heard it was great!
I could told you a lot more from the cruise,
but what happends on the ship, stays on the ship!
Right, ladies???
Thank you ladies!
We had a wonderful time,
it only ended way too fast...!
Take care!

My Stitching Angel Gift Has Landed

In my previous post I showed you a few glimpses of
the gift I made for my partner in the
Stitching Angel Swap 2009.
Well, the parcel has arrived at it's final destination.
It had a long way to travel, all the way to
Marja in Tasmania!Well, here is what I made for her.

I used Gail Pan's pattern "Pretty Hexagon Baskets" for
this bag and the pincushion.
I made a very simple stitchery instead of Gail's beautiful and more detailed stitchery,
beause I was running out of time!

I think Marja liked the gift,

she told me so in the e-mail I got from her!

Until next time, take care!

Stitching Angel 2009

I had some great mail
earlier this week!
The gift from my Stitching Angel arrived!
It was from Paula, USA.
Look at all the lovley things she made for me,
and the other great stuff she put in the box.
I couldn't believe my eyes
when I saw there was seven
parcels in that box for me to open!
She made me a very handy sewing basket, with lots of pockets
on the outside, a stitched needlemap, pincushion, and a stitched scissorholder!
And that Folk Art pattern is great, lots of small,
wonderful stitcheries for me to make!
Thank you, Paula!
I love my gift! Here's some sneak peeks from the gift I made
for my partner.
I don't think she has got them,
since I haven't heard anything yet.
Hopefully she will like what I made for her!
I also want to give Helen a big thank you, for once again
organizing this swap!
Take care and I wish you all a wonderful week-end.
Thank you for stopping by!
May Kristin
PS. I have a LONG post from Hurtigruten under construction.
Hopefully I will manage to post it tomorrow!
Hope your not too sick and bored of hearing more...

Trondheim and Hurtigruten, here we come... Part two

Well, soon became a lot longer than
I thought it would be...
But here are a few more photos from Trondheim,
this time from Siws shop.
I had asked Siw before we left, if it was ok for her that we came
to the shop to see what they were working on,
and may be do a little shopping!
Actually, I wished I had taken more
photos from her shop, because it
is a pretty gorgeous shop! The quilt below is one of my favourites,
"Busy little christmas elves"
made by Siw.
The quilting is done by Merete,
and she did a wonderful job!
(You can click on the photos to enlarge them if you like!)
Every great class ends with a little photosession,
This is the week-end class.
If you would like to visit some of the bloggers,
Sølvi has links to them all here!
It was so nice to see both Stina, Marica and Louise (no blog) from Sweden, again!
We took the same class with Leanne in Trysil,
when she was visiting two years ago!
Sunday night, the night before we entered the ship,
we went out for dinner,
20 ladies all together!
It was fun!
I'm not done, yet!
There's more to come!
Thank you for stopping by!
Take care!

Trondheim and Hurtigruten, here we come... Part one

When we saw Siw's ad about the quilting-cruise on
Anita and I knew we had to sign up
for this event!
We decided to leave for Trondheim a couple of days before
we were supposed to enter the ship.
One of our wishes was to have time to do some sightseeing. Anita had never
been to Trondheim before, and I thought it was fun to see the city again.
I lived there for three years when I was ten to twelwe years old.
Another wish was to have time to eat some good food...
...sit in a nice café,
drinking a hot latte...
...looking at people...
...talking and thinking...
...relax...
...maybe some shopping...
...well, definately some shopping in Siw's great shop, Quiltegården!
May be see some ladies we met in Trysil two years ago.
A perfect and well deserved little vacation for two working ladies
and housewives!
Here is a little from what we saw on our
sightseeing...
...we even took a guided tour to see the
It was a very interesting history lesson, and definately
worth a visit!

...there's lots of beautiful spots in and around Trondheim, but
we only had time for a few...

...Den gamle bybroen, (The Old Town Bridge)...

...Bakklandet...

I'll be back with more soon,
so please,
stay tuned!
Take care!

Back Home

We are home again after two wonderful weeks
in the warm and sunny Florida!
One of the best things about travelling...
...is that it is so good to be home again...
...even though you have had a great time!
It was nice to enjoy the view from our house in this beautiful
fall-weather the very first day at home!
And here are a few of the memories from our vacation...
...we had a VERY hot day in Magic Kingdom, but it was fun for our little
princess to meet the other princesses!
I assure you, I wasn't the only one who felt HOT that day!

Thank you for sharing the moments with me!
Take care
and have a wonderful week-end!
May Kristin
PS!
I know you are waiting for photos from the cruise with Gail P
and Leanne B. They are coming soon,
so please,
stay tuned!

Hello!

Just checking in to say hello!
I'm still here...
there's been too much going on lately,
wonderful things!
Anita, my friend and I, have been on a cruise
with Leanne and Gail, and Siw from Quiltegården,
and lots of other ladies.
There's been lots of chatting and laughing,
some sewing and stitching...
...lovely food...
...shopping...
...and a little sleeping...

Sorry I don't have any photos to show you yet,
didn't have time to write this on my own
computer after I got home
and before I left for Florida,
but I promise you lots of photos when I am back home again,
after a couple weeks in the sun!

Take care!

We Have a Winner!

You were right ladies!
They were lanyards!
All the ladies joining us on the trip, got a
lanyard and a nametag like this one.
And the trip...
...was great!!
You'll see more from the trip later...
...only need to sort out some photos!
And the winner is........

....no 11....
...GUDRUN!
Congratulations!
Thanks to you all for playing!
I'm sorry I'm a bit late in my drawing, but I guess you noticed
I messed up the date and day...LOL,
...and...
...I was quite exhausted after the trip, and I managed to pick up
a little bug...
...so I needed a couple days to recover!
Quilting trips are pretty dangerous!
But I'm on the mend!
Take care!

What Is This?

Sorry I've been so absent lately,
both in posting and commenting.
Only needed some time to settle down again after summer.
Kids are back at school again.
My son started his economy studies a couple weeks ago in Oslo,
and is sharing a tiny flat with his dad...
...I think it is a good thing that my husband travels a lot
and comes home for week-ends... ;-)
My oldest daughter is back at her boarding school...
...and loves it...
...so there's only my little princess and me left at home,
...in this big house...
but we manage very well!
So, what about the title?
WHAT IS THIS?
If you guess right, you may get one for your self, pluss a
little extra...
...so this means...
...yes, you are right...
...a little GIVEAWAY!
Need any clues...?
I am going away this week-end on the annual fall-trip
with my quilting-guild,
and I've made one for each of the 20 ladies joining.
You can put it around your (....),
you can put(...........) on it, and a (...), and a (....)!
Bad clues? Yes, I know! Sorry! :-)
Good luck!
Please, leave a comment here on this post,
and I will draw the winner on tuesday, august 31st.
Where are we going?
We are going to Denmark, to Roskilde, where
has their annual meeting.
We look forward to see the shows,
and may be some shopping.
May be!
Take care and have a wonderful week-end!

Thank You, Leanne!

A while ago
I had an e-mail from Leanne,
where she told me she had been working on something for
me for a while, and now needed my address.
We did a kind of a swap some months ago,
and she sent me some wonderful things in return,
which I was more than happy to receive!
But a couple weeks ago,
I received even more!
I was outside painting the house when this box
filled with wonderful things
arrived on my doorstep.
I can tell you...
...I was totally speechless and overwhelmed
when I opened the box......look what I found inside...
...I'll let the photos speek for themselves...
...it is such a wonderful piece of work...

Thank you, a hundred times, Leanne for this wonderful gift!
I feel so spoilt!
I love my new pincushion, so now I need to have a huge clean up
in my sewing room, so that it can feel more at home!
Until next time...
...take care!
