My NEW Adventure

The last two weeks I have start a NEW adventure- baby sitting! On facebook the other day there was a group to join called "It's not called babysitting if it's your own kids!" which I fully believe (no, I didn't join the group) so no, they not my kids. Zach's brother's wife finished up her maternity leave after six weeks and went back to teaching school half day so I started with a six week old, Nicholas, and his 2 1/2 year old sister, Liesel. If I wasn't having my own baby, it might be harder to babysit now (though, going to storytime, I get some really weird looks with two little kids, a baby seat AND a pregnant belly!) just because I stay home more and don't run around so much. But, I've had time to clean stuff out, read some books, make some little GIRL blankets, etc.

Here's my day charges- oh, so cute!

Maybe it's just because he reminds me of Hyrum but he is one sweet baby! What if my baby is not so nice and doesn't sleep or eat well? I'm afraid Nicholas is spoiling me! :)

Utah trip from the Folks down south...

My family loves any excuse to get together and a wedding is a perfect reason! So, thanks to Kylie and Zach (yep, now there are 2 Zach's in the family!) for getting married because Mom and Wendy made the trip up for it. Yay! Wendy brought her friend, Stephanie and there was a party in the basement every night.

This is Wendy and Stephanie as mannequins in the store front window at Kylie's reception.

We had to take a little trip to Yogurt bliss in Spanish Fork for some tasty treats- all the crazy cousins and Aunt Wendy!

And, even though we don't all look alike, you can tell what gene got passed down to all of us! The glasses gene- thanks MOM! :)

Zoo day!

So, last week, we had this great time where everything was free- free ice skating (though it was too packed to get in) Free pancakes at IHOP (delicious!) Free curly fries at Arby's (where I got a receipt for a free Arby's sandwich) and Free Zoo day at the Hogle Zoo! Of course we took advantage of that, even getting Hyrum out of school early to take the drive up to Salt Lake in the SNOW. Who would think the zoo could be fun in the snow? It was actually MORE fun because there was no one there and in Utah, where it does snow, there are lots of exhibits INdoors. A perfect day for the zoo!

Here are the boys by the elephant- sadly, the baby elephant doesn't come out in the cold... so there was one draw back of being there in the snow!

If I could pick any pet, this is what it would be- a giant kitty! I love the cougars and lions and tigers- I'll just take one of each to snuggle up with and listen to them purr!

We did get to see the baby giraffe on his skinny little wobbly legs- they are fascinating creatures!

We found out that Hyrum is as big as an adult female gorilla, and Weston is the size of a 'kid' gorilla. Guess that explains a lot about how they act! I should have left THEM in the zoo!

This is a horrible blurry picture but it was our favorite exhibit- the Orangutans family! When we first got there, the mom was sleeping in the corner, all wrapped up in a sheet. The dad was in a little hanging basket-nest with a sheet over his head like ET sleeping. The baby was swinging around by her feet, going rope to rope, making faces and playing peek-a-boo with us in the windows... Pretty soon the dad's sheet falls off his head so he gets up, swings like Tarzan on a vine down to where the mom is still snoozing where he picks her up and continues his swing around the whole room. Well, then she is mad so they wrestle around, meanwhile the baby is still showing off... Yep, we could have stayed there all day watching them like reality TV. :)
So, the moral of the story is- take advantage of FREE days because they just might be worth it!
