Oh, the Wee Little Lassie!

"Oh, she's a wee lass, she's a dainty lass, and she likes to skip through clover. And how her red pigtails bob when she plays the bagpipes. She's a wee and dainty lass!" (By Uncle Spencer)
This little ditty fits Afton quite nicely- though she does not have red hair or pigtails for that matter and so far, she has not learned to play the bagpipes. Hopefully, that will be in her future, though! Here's the Wee lass:

Can you believe it? 9 months!
After her doctor's appointment, I took a survey on what people thought her weight might be. These are the answers I got: 12 lbs, 22 lbs, 10 lbs, 30 lbs, and 18 lbs.
Turns out, none of them are right...
Afton is at a the 25% for weight at a nice 17.1 lbs.
Told you, a wee lass! Though, NOT 10 lbs small. (these were all adults I asked... not even children)
She is 50% for height, though, so just a normal Sharlee/Zach kind of baby.
Other stats on Afton:
She loves to see people, she does not love other people. Mommy is the only one she really likes to be held by (which doesn't make Daddy very happy).
She loves to pull hair, especially Hyrum's.
She loves to eat food- if I give her a bite and put it straight in her mouth, she spits it out. She must feed herself. Though, if it's baby food she likes, she'll let me do it.
She LOVES music. She would play at the piano for an hour if I had the time to sit there and hold her up to it. She loves to dance to techno (yep, a typical Sharlee/Zach child) or anything up-beat.
She crawls like a normal baby on carpet, but on the hard floor she has developed a crawl/slide to keep her knees from hurting? or maybe to give her more traction on the slippery floor? I need to video it...
She has almost 6 teeth- the last one is visible but not quite through yet. All the better to bite you with!
She does NOT stay still for diaper changes which leaves me no choice but to resort to the trick I learned with Hyrum, long ago... lay them on the ground, hold their arms down with MY legs and change the diaper as fast as I can! It makes her mad, but it works!
I love my sweet little babe!

One more Weston:

Weston was eating some conversation hearts and said: Mom, this white one tastes like the tree of life fruit, because I just ate a purple one and it tasted like grape.
Turns out, there aren't many plain white fruits... Except the Tree of Life fruit. :)

A Little Weston:

So, I just got Weston all registered for Kindergarten last week- yep, he's hitting the big time! Until then, I still get to play with him all day and he keeps me laughing! Today, we "Just Danced-ed" all morning for exercise. Oh, yeah.
One morning, not too long ago, it snowed, so when I put Afton down for a morning nap, we played in that snow:
Cute boy, huh.
A little crazy, too.
Here's his snowman. I love how the snowman is wearing Weston's hat, and Weston's hair is CrAzy!
Sometimes Weston says the best things, like the other day in his prayer, he blessed Aunt Wendy "while she lives so long ago and so far away." (Turns out she lives in Fairy land :)
Another day, Hyrum was playing with a balloon which stuck to the ceiling. After a lesson in static electricity, I came down to Weston standing on the couch saying" Look, I got some of that stuff on my hands and now I'm going to jump and see if I can touch the ceiling and stick!" Sadly, it didn't work...
Weston also knows all the words to every song he has ever heard -works great for learning Articles of Faith- but he knows the theme song to Phineas and Ferb, all the words to the Just Dance songs (As I type, I can hear him singing "As I look out a dirty old window... We're the Kids in America" :) and the songs off my Mp3 player- even the Chinese and Russian ones. Good thing I have good music, huh!
My favorite thing EVER though, is this fabulous picture taken Sunday morning. Weston got ready for church ALL by himself:

I love it. Notice where the tie is clipped, how the pants are twisted one way and the belt the other way, the one pant leg up, the other down... And he wouldn't care if I left it that way.
Love this boy!

A Little Afton:

Now that she crawls, I am constantly saying (in a panicked voice) "Where's Afton?" Sometimes she is in the bathroom playing with the tub toys, chasing the kitty or getting in the kitty food (as previously noted). And sometimes she is here:
Who doesn't like playing under the table?
Or sometimes she is here:

Making a mess, of course!
I had a moment yesterday when I had just fed her and she was sleeping in my arms - I realized she is just growing too fast and I DON'T like it! I know, they just keep getting more fun and learning and growing... but still. Right now she is my tiny little babe and I love it when she gets excited to see me, gives me a big hug, does her funny faces and laughs at mine. And she still falls asleep in my arms. Sigh. I'll just enjoy it now, I guess...
