FAREWELL ... DESPEDIDA ...

My dear friends unfortunately this is a very sad post. Carlos, my dearest and so beloved husband, my source of love, joy, comfort and great companionship for almost 47 years passed away of a fulminating heart attack. 

Carlos was always a wonderful , lovely and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. 

We all do not have enough words to express our so deep sorrow, our profound sadness and infinity missing of our  dearest Carlos...

His so beautiful photos and great inspiration and colaboration have always illustrated and illuminated my blog since its beginning in 2005. Without his great talent Leaves of Grass would not have been as it was.

Meus queridos amigos infelizmente este é um tristíssimo post. Carlos, meu querido e muito amado marido, minha fonte de amor, alegria, conforto e grande companheirismo por quase 47 anos faleceu de um fulminante ataque cardíaco. 

Carlos foi sempre um maravilhoso e dedicado marido, pai e avô. 

Nós todos não temos palavras suficientes para expressar toda a nossa profunda dor, imensa tristeza e infinitas saudades do nosso querido Carlos...

Suas belíssimas fotos, sua grande inspiração e colaboração sempre ilustraram e iluminaram o meu blog desde o seu início em 2005. Sem o seu imenso talento o Leaves of Grass jamais teria sido como foi.

Pink tabebuia ~ Ipê-Rosa

The "Ipê-Rosa" tree (Tabebuia pentaphylla), in English known as Pink tabebuia, Pink trumpet. We can see Tabebuia flowers profusely in winter. Tabebuia consists of about 20 species and occurs in practically every Latin American country. June and July are the months of the magnificent pink tubular flowers.
O "Ipê-Rosa" (Tabebuia pentaphylla) é o primeiro dos Ipês a florir no ano, iniciando a floração em Junho, mas ainda pode ser encontrado com flores até Setembro. Existem cerca de 20 espécies de Tabebuia, que podem ser encontradas em praticamente todos os países da América Latina. Junho e Julho são os meses em que o Ipê-Rosa floresce em toda a sua beleza.

Pink Tabebuia tree flowering in Avaré, a city founded in 1861, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, located 270 km (167,77 miles) from the Capital São Paulo. The ecomomy is based on agriculture, livestock and tourism. The great attraction include the beautiful Jurumirim Dam.

Ipê-Rosa florido em Avaré, cidade fundada em 1861, situada no Estado de São Paulo, a 270 km da Capital paulista. Sua economia está baseada na agricultura, pecuária e turismo. A grande atração da região é a bela Represa Jurumirim.

 

 

PINK TABEBUIA VIDEOS... VÍDEOS DO IPÊ-ROSA...

My dear friend Naomi from the blog Here in the Hills, commented that she would like to see some videos of my Pink Tabebuia when it comes into full bloom. I am afraid that in this year my tree will not sprout many flowers than last year. Anyway I did three videos. On the first video I try to film some hummingbirds, but they are so tiny that it's unlikely you will see them... 
Minha querida amiga Naomi, do blog Here in the Hills, comentou que gostaria de ver um vídeo do meu Ipê-Rosa quando ele estivesse bem florido. Mas eu acho que neste ano o Ipê não ficará tão florido como no ano passado. De qualquer forma, fiz três vídeos e no primeiro tentei filmar os beija-flores, mas eles são tão pequenos que dificilmente poderão ser vistos...

FLOWERING... FLORESCENDO...

Walking around my garden this morning I photographed the first pink flowers blooming on the Ipê-Rosa  (Pink Tabebuia) tree, in this season. Before blooming, the leaves fall down on the grass and in few days this tree will be full of pink flowers.  I love the sound of dry leaves crunching under my footsteps and skittering along the ground with the wind...
Dando uma volta hoje pela manhã no meu jardim, fotografei as primeiras flores do Ipê-Rosa desta temporada. Antes da florada, a árvore perde todas as suas folhas que caem no gramado. Em alguns dias, a árvore estará toda florida. Gosto do barulhinho que as folhas secas fazem quando ando sobre elas e também quando elas se agitam com o vento...

A solitary tiny flower... If you look with attention at the right of the flower you can see a nest of the Rufous Hornero (Furnarius Rufus), that is one of the Ovenbirds. This bird is very common in Brazil, and in the South America. Here in Brazil his common name is João-de-barro. ("barro" means "clay" in Portuguese). They are often seen on the ground collecting mud or dung to build their remarkable nests. These nests looks like miniature versions of the type of oven that you can see outside many houses in rural South America. Hence the name "Ovenbirds" in English.
Uma solitária florzinha... Se você olhar com atenção à direita da flor você poderá ver uma casa de João-de-barro ou forneiro (Furnarius rufus).

The yellow little flower, with black seeds, germinate spontaneously in my garden and I don't know their name. Someone can identify them?

A delicada florzinha amarela, com sementes pretas, brotou espontaneamente em meu jardim e eu não faço idéia de seu nome. Alguém poderia identificá-la?

THE FIRST BLOOMING... A PRIMEIRA FLORADA...

Walking around my garden today I became enchanted by the first pink flower blooming on bare branches of Ipê-Rosa (Pink Tabebuia) tree. Before blooming, the leaves fall down on the grass and in few days this tree will be full of pink flowers. Just beautiful! I love the sound of dry leaves crunching under my footsteps and skittering along the ground with the wind...

Dando uma volta hoje pelo meu jardim me encantei com as primeiras flores do Ipê-Rosa. Antes da florada, a árvore perde todas as suas folhas que caem no gramado. Em alguns dias, a árvore estará toda rosa. Linda! Gosto do barulhinho que as folhas secas fazem quando ando sobre elas e também quando elas se agitam com o vento...

IPÊ-ROSA... PINK TABEBUIA...

Today's Photo Friday challenge is "Common" . As June and July are the months of the magnificent pink tubular flowers of the Tabebuia pentaphylla, I post some photos of this beautiful tree. The first seven photos were taken in my garden by myself.

In Brazil this tree is known as “Ipê-Rosa” and in English known as Pink tabebuia, Pink tecoma, Pink trumpet, Pink poui and Rosy trumpet-tree.

We can see Tabebuia flowers profusely in winter and they can be seen in several places surrounds my neighborhood and also in quite a few places in the country.

"The Tabebuia pentaphylla rosea is native to continental America and common from wet lowlands to dry uplands, from southern Mexico to Venezuela and coastal Ecuador. The species can be found in essentially pure stands, as isolated trees, or in a mixed forest. Tabebuia rosea is a tall, fast-growing tree reaching 25 to30 m high. The crown is wide, stratified, and irregular, with a few thick, horizontal branches; the bole is straight, sometimes channeled at base. Leaves are dropped March through June. Tabebuia rosea is found in deep and superficial soils, but grows better in well-drained soils with a light texture. Tabebuia rosea was previously identified as Tabebuia pentaphylla in several Central American countries.”

This large, erect and semi-deciduous tree with delicate trumpet-shaped flowers that appear in clusters in pastel shades of pink, make a wonderful spectacle. The tree draws attention because of its profuse flowering and the falling blooms make a dense carpet below.

MY HOUSE AND THE BEAUTIFUL IPÊ- ROSA

This gorgeous tree beside my house is the "Ipê Rosa" (Tabebuia pentaphylla). It may be seen called Pink Poui-Rosea or just Pink Trumpet Tree. Pink Tabebuia will bloom on and off through all the warm months and into the fall for larger trees. Some trees lose most of their leaves prior to blooming. Tabebuia consists of about 20 species and occurs in practically every Latin American country.
