Righting a wrong with Freja Ilyanovka...

When I first created the NeoExodus: A House Divided iconic, Freja Ilyanovka, I used the movie, Brotherhood of the Wolf as my inspiration for visually what I wanted to see. The artist I assigned took my idea and ran with it. The image that he came back with was the one that you see here.

While it is a nice piece the one thing that REALLY stand out with it is the now infamous "boob window". When I first saw it I was like, "Oh yeah! That is what I am talking about!" because I like many men I know are fans of breasts and thighs and this image has both. And I used this image over and over for years. But after time, I noticed that women didn't really seem to like this image. And many women called me out for being sexist. I found this odd due to the fact NeoExodus has women in control in five out of the six major empires and we have an equal amount of male to female iconics.

But after a while, I didn't feel as good about the image of Freja Ilyanovka. So when we did her chapter opener image and covered up the boob window and made her more empowered WITH her clothes on. With all this today, I spoke to one of my artists that we are going to change the iconic image of Freja Ilyanovka. This is what I wrote him:

I need to do a character design image of the following image. But I what her in a stronger pose. This one makes her look like she is skipping along. I want to give her a traditional "tough guy" pose of Wolverine / Batman / Punisher. Looking cooler and tougher and LESS overt sexual. I also want to cover her "boob window" thanks. Please let me know.

And with that, I can't wait to see the new artwork for Freja Ilyanovka. So remember, when I do stupid things, I want people to tell me they are stupid. Because I know eventually I will get it. I am always a work in progress and I am sorry if you were offended by that artwork. Talk to you later...

[LPJ Design] Lost Races: Elves for The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Now available

Louis Porter Jr. Design, has released  Lost Races: Elves for The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game at RPGNow.com and DriveThruRPG.com.  Here is information on this product:
In forgotten ages, a great race of elves ruled Exodus: a tall, proud folk, unmatched in martial prowess and gifted with magical might. They were beautiful and terrible like the sun, possessed of powers beyond those of the other infant races of the world. They ruled a vast, wild region, dwelling in subterranean fortresses. Magic was in their blood. It was said they could step through a doorway and end up halfway across the world, and could enter the dreams of sleepers on a whim. They forged fantastic weapons, crafted cunning tools, and created magnificent works of art. Their rule lasted for untold millennia. Then came the First Ones.
The interlopers launched a swift and furious offensive upon the elves, intending to conquer and subjugate them before taking the rest of the world for their own. The elves’ counterattacks brought the First Ones’ campaign to a standstill. Both forces were equal in magical power, but the elves were superior on the battlefield, their united front more than a match for the First Ones’ loose collective. However, the slave races used by the First Ones’ provided them with the sheer numbers necessary to keep fighting. The stalemate continued for centuries. Then the Khaynites—greatest of the First Ones and children of the bloody god, Khayne—invented a new weapon that tipped the scales and brought an end to elven rule of Exodus.
Inside this sourcebook you will find you’ll need to enhance on adventures when using the Lost Races: Elves:
  • History of the Lost Races: Elves
  • Six unique elven races including Deep Elves, Dark Elves and Planewracked Elves
  • New Racial Rules and Racial Archetypes including Charoteer (Cavalier), Desert Viper (Slayer), ), Dream Eater (Witch) and more
  • New Equipment including Desert Glass and Elven Bronze

Elves from NeoExodus? How is that possible?

For the NeoExodus: A House Divided and Pathfinder Roleplaying Game fans who think there were no "standard fantasy races" in NeoExodus, this might be the best quote of the day:

The elves were the first major resistance the First Ones faced. They're a match for them until the Khaynites produced the virus called elfbane. The plague that decimates the population, causing the elves to use the Nexus gateways to flee Exodus, and allowing the First Ones to lock the gates behind them, allowing them to conquer.

The next question many of you are asking is what happened to the Dwarves? Lost Races of NeoExodus: Elves coming soon to DriveThruRPG.com and Paizo.

The Iconic Half-Giant and Android are coming to NeoExodus...

So since we received the last two pieces of artwork for the half-giant and the android for NeoExodus, those will be our iconic characters that we will have to add to our already growing list of iconics. I am not sure which classes I will have them attached to, but there are a few that are open that I might be interested in like Alchemist, Wizard, Monk and even Fighter. But that is the fun part. So if there are some iconic you would like to see for the half-giant and the android, let us know. We can’t do this without our fans.  Talk to you later…

Androids in NeoExodus and their inspiration…

I always wanted to add androids to the world of NeoExodus from the original idea and creation of the Kaga. I mean, if we have a sentient “computer system” how far could other artificial entities like androids and robots be? Cut to Paizo adding the Android to the Bestiary AND to their Iron Gods adventure path. So with that the rules for Androids have been created. Once they did that, I started thing was to add them to the NeoExodus setting where there would not be an issue with the original races, while at the same time how to make sense of all this. That was the easy part; the hard part was to understand them as a race. And with that I went to my old playbook of comic books and pulled out something from my past that seem to work almost perfectly with theses android. And with that I had to go to Valiant Comics  and specifically to Psi-Lords.

I like the idea of a caste system that I saw on Babylon 5’sMinbari with Psi-Lords also seemed to develop their own with the colors of Red, Orange and Yellow for the Psi Lords. So I carried over this idea for Androids for NeoExodus, which I renamed and how the androids refer to each other as Kagan. I guess you can figure out who created them.  So like the Minbari, the Kagan are split into the three castes of warriors, workers and religious. Any class can belong to whatever caste they choose. That is really for the choice of the player, but this adds some interest ideas and concepts to what PCs might be. I mean a Kagan Alchemist of the warrior caste might be very different from a Kagan Alchemist of the religious caste. Plus personally it make more sense for the Kaga to have created the Kagan. The Order of the Kaga sourcebook has proven that it is only a logical extension of the Prestige Classes of the Auger and Harbinger.

With all this said, we will be making changes to the normal stat blocks for the android race. I want to make them a little more interesting to those that play them for NeoExodus. I mean there are a few ideas that I think might work well with them. I guess you have to wait and see. Talk to you later…

What genre of gaming are you playing with Pathfinder and NeoExodus?

This is a question I have been thinking over since the release of Obsidian Apocalypse. The reason for that is that when we did Obsidian Apocalypse we built it with 4 campaign templates that you can use to play whatever type of post-apocalyptic survival horror campaign you wanted. And I thought of taking that same concept with the new NeoExodus update I am working on. See there ae so many people playing Pathfinder, but everyone is playing it differently. Some people are playing a hack and slash campaign. Some people are playing it as a virtual LARPing system. And some are making it a mix of both. Some others are playing like High Fantasy, others Low Fantasy and others still as Epic Fantasy. There are so many ways to play this game. And with that I decided that we would create a system to help make NeoExodus playable in several genres including Political Thriller, Fantasy Pulp and Science Fantasy. I think this will helpful with the appeal of NeoExodus, since some were confused of what type of fantasy you could play, since we didn't have the traditional fantasy races. Hope this helps. Talk to you later…

Still working on the update to NeoExodus campaign setting book…

So I am working on the revamp of NeoExodus campaign settingbook, and I am AMAZED about how much art will be in this book. In addition to using art we have already used we are still adding MORE artwork. For example we are doing new artwork for the races of Cavian, Enuka (See here), Gevet and Sasori.  The reason being many of the pieces were created years ago and need updating. Also we are adding flag for each empire (in color) so you can get a better idea of the usage of the symbols we use for the empires. Plus I want to add more content for the race in the way of additional race traits. I personally what each race to have at least four racial traits. I think it will give the races a more balanced feel and the ability to make a more “unique” version for PCs.  And for some reason I will be adding in height, weight and age charts for each of the races. People seem to get really crazy if this is missing.  I don’t know when this will be finished but it is keeping me excited. Talk to you later…

The NeoExodus Upgrade and Pricing

By now, I am sure many of you are familiar with the updates that I am making to the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting. With that, I am sure many of you who have bought the campaign book were happy to hear that we are doing an update. But at the same time, I am sure many of you didn’t want to have to buy a whole new book from something you just bought and I understand and feel for you. And with that I have come up with this plan.

First, this new update (which I keep calling the Ultimate Edition) all people who purchased the PDF version from DriveThruRPG.com, RPGNow.com, Paizo.com or D20PFSRD.com as a PDF, we will be updating your original PDF version with the new Ultimate Edition FOR FREE. As long as you have OR do purchase the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting, by the time we release the Ultimate Edition, you will get the update for free. The NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting PDF book will be updated with the Ultimate Edition PDF online so all you will have to do is download the new version.

Second, the Print-On-Demand versions will be updated with new Ultimate Edition Print-On-Demand version in both black and white AND full color.  What the price of this books will be is currently not known but we hope to keep the price as low as possible and reasonable for you the consumer.

Third, we are adding more additional content and artwork to this new Ultimate Edition. I am “guesstimating” that we will be adding between 15 to 30% additional content compared to the original version. Anything we are adding are not about “destroying” work we have we already done. For example, we are adding alternative racial traits for all of the races. We are not changing their stated standard racial traits so those who have PCs made that don’t really miss out on anything but now they have more options for the future.

So if you are a NeoExodus fan or even interested, join ourFacebook page and see all the new and interesting add-ons, the new artwork and layout we are doing with this Ultimate Edition.  As always, thanks for the support. Talk to you later…

NeoExodus Layout Update part 2

OK NeoExodus fans, here are the changes I made to the history section of the updated NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting. Something that JP always tried to instill on me was the importance of the iconics. I agreed it was a good idea so we created them. And with that I deiced int he new version they would get a more visual importance so we added their images. What do you think Paizo fans?

NeoExodus Layout Update

Here is the updated layout for the NeoExodus: A House Divided Campaign Setting. As you can see we are adding a head shot to the racial trait boxes. This is something we did in Obsidian Apocalypse and I really like how is came out. What do you think?
