Staatskapelle Dresden Performs Bruckner's Eighth
Friday, April 19, 2013
The Staatskapelle Dresden closed the 2012-13 Carnegie Hall Live series on an epic note, with Bruckner's Symphony No. 8 conducted by Christian Thielemann. Listen to the archived show above.
The Berlin-born Thielemann became the Staatskapelle's chief conductor this season, though his connection to the orchestra goes back several years. In 2008, he led a live recording of the Bruckner Eighth, which received enthusiastic reviews. The Eighth is one of Bruckner's most popular works, full of magisterial grandeur and powerful climaxes.
