Fairy

Found chucked away in a skip. A way lot bigger than the usual Bods (she´s 8cm´s tall) but it made a change to upsize and have a rest from historical wargame themed Bods.
Made from Resin, I think the big water lilly was meant for a tea light.
All colours from Art and craft shops, Makes -Kreul or Hobbyline.
To paint The wings were the biggest problem and TBH, I´m not happy with the result.
Pre-Paint
I´ll give her away as a present.

English Sailors 16-17th Century - RedBox

Blimey!!..nearly 6 weeks without a peep and now two Posts in a row!!!*

Another load of sea dogs to add to the previous 10.
Again, as with the Spanish sailors, a Tiny bit of Flash to deal with. Over at PSR the set gets bad marks for the mold but as I´ve said on previous Posts , it probably depends on which set you get.
Now they are all painted...what to use them for? Or are they all painted? After all, RedBox has a quite large range of Late Renaissance bods so it´s possible there´s more  to come :-)

*There were quite Major house renovations to deal with and a lot of our team at work are either sick or on Holiday and the early hot weather made sunbathing more fun  so I have  a couple of small excuses for not painting :-)

Spanish Sailors 16-17th Century - RedBox

One of those subjects that, when you go looking for references for clothing Colours and the like, there´s virtually nothing.

There´s one or two contemporary paintings showing Crew, like  Johann Theodore de Bry´s  "The renewal of the alliance between Francisco Pissarro and Diego de Almagro ...(to explore and exploit Peru) …(HERE)
Mostly blues, reds and Yello/Browns but the mix of Colours on the painting Looks..concieved. Still, better than Nothing.
There´s a Little Flash to deal with  but not a lot. Over at PSR the set gets a decent review (HERE)
Why am I painting late Renaissance bods? Well, you´ll have to wait and see.

Blast From the Past (3)

At the present I´m working on a large model, way larger than I´m used to and a bit out of my field of "Expertise" so it´s taking a bit more time than I thought it would

Anyways, whilst trying to find some bits for the Project I had to rummage about in the Collection and found some, what I thought as I put in the last post, Long lost stuff.

Some more tanks. Some Barrels replaced with nails at the time, others have lost thier Barrels in storage, but, amazingly, some of them have retained thier side plates!
The tiger in the middle (with the Zimmeit made with a  heated screw Driver) is half full of plasticine. Not for any particular reason apart from it made it  "HEAVY"

A handfull of what was originally around 40 halftracks.
Some cardboard based bods.  Looking at the 3 Airfix bods, two of them were originally carrying some sort of SMG..or whatever.

Blast from the past 2

Due to a PM conversation over at the Airfix Tribute Forum it was decided to start a thread showcasing some of our old models from way back.

Unfortunately, well over 90% of my Collection hasn´t stood the test of time. It´s either been given away, lost in the flower beds, broken or binned. 😞
1000´s of 1/72nd bods, 100´s of 1/72nd tanks, planes. Hundreds and hundreds of 1/32nd bods and dozens of 1/32nd scale AFV´s and Buildings...all gone 😢

First up, some 1/32nd - 1/35th scale Multi part german soldiery. There´s a pile more but the glue hasn´t  Held and arms, heads etc have come unstuck.
"Never paint the eyes!"
Three surviving (just) 1/72nd scale tanks. I´ve got some better preserved examples but these are interesting due to one or two small "Upgrades"
An attempt to recreate Zimmerit by pressing a small screwdriver heated over a candle into the plastic.
I can´t even remember having heard of zimmerit back then and how to recreate it

"Battlefield repair". Barrel replacement using a nail, head cut off, pointy end heated up and jammed into the mantel. Note the track is welded onto the hull. This was probably due to the tracks being difficult to attach properly..the joinging lugs virtually always broke.
This one was an attempt at creating an interior. The two blobs next to the ammo rack are the feet of the commander..or perhaps... he just left his boots behind
The red blobs on the photos cover Symbols that are forbidden to reproduce here.

The Three Musketeers - Mesdemoiselles

Finally...a Change to  medieval themes.
These three Mesdemoiselles come from two Ultima Ratio sets, the Musketeers of the King of France (Constance Bonacieux and Queen Anne of Austria) and The Guards of Cardinal Richelieu (MiLady de Winter) and were sent to me by Phil (Philotep´s 1/72 Minis Kingdom)

There´s a Little bit of Flash to deal with but seeing as they are made using hardish plastic it isn´t too much of a Problem.
Each one as named by PSR
MiLady de Winter
Queen Anne
Constance Bonacieux (or possibly Kitty..servant to MiLady)
Constance and MiLady could take a place in the Bodstonian Landscape..but Queen Anne..?

Now Ultima Ratio will have to make a set of characters from ther late 60´s TV series The Flashing Blade   (Le Chevalier Tempête)

Totem Pole

A Nexus Apache Camp Totem pole, found in the bits box at the BB Toys
This will end up as an abandoned totem pole  in the Bodstonian landscape, where, if anyones taking note, there´s no  religious aspect to the lifes and loves of the inhabitants, Bodstonian or native and it can be used in one of the six ways they were originally intended for;
House frontal poles,
Interior house posts,
Mortuary poles,
Memorial poles,
Welcome poles,
Ridicule or shame poles.

Luckily for my Bodstonian adventures, Totem poles have no religious meaning,and where not worshipped;

Totem poles are not religious objects, but they do communicate important aspects of native culture. Carvings of animals and other characters typically represent characters or events in a story. The carvings may symbolize or commemorate cultural beliefs that recount familiar legends, clan lineages, or notable events. The poles may also serve as functional architectural features, welcome signs for village visitors, mortuary vessels for the remains of deceased ancestors, or as a means to publicly ridicule someone.

Anyway, two of Bodstonias personalities, James Forrester and Adahy come across the abandoned Totempole in THIS Episode from the Federation of Bodstonia

Snail Shell house

Long Long ago, giant snails roamed the world. Being slow  they were generally not considered a threat and therefore tolerated. Sometimes a snail of great Age (and size) would pass away. moving slowly  to the great cabbage patch in the sky and some enterprising individual would find the remaining Shell and move in.
A bit of work was necessary to carefully remove the central spiral "walls" but after this was done a cosy waterproof abode could be constructed.

1/87 bod from Prieser, the cat from an Outcast-Figures set (available at the Croeburn 1813 shop)

Pirates of the Caribbean

Pirates of the caribbean from Mars.
They look bad on the PSR (Here) site but the sprue I got turned out with less flash than shown on the Review and the small amount that there was, was soon removed with a bit of blade work.
Most of them will end up as part of Jack Dore´s band of Pirate´s and the rest as Bodstonian Militia.

Pirates (Orion)

A mean bunch of Pirates led by "capn" Jack Dore.
I´ve slightly converted a couple from the original poses, the bod digging now is part of the gun crew, and I shortened the hair on the female being taken prisoner.
This lot will take up life in the world of Bodstonia...well,  maybe the skeleton won´t take up life there... :-D
The females in the crew.
The cannon is a two piece thing and the barrel looks a bit long but it´s still a nice piece.
They seem pretty successful..loads of treasure and grog.
"Capn" Jack Dore
"ARRRH me hearties!"
Confusedly looking for buried treasure
What is he doing!? Blowpipe? A straw for sneaking ale from the barrel?
The winner of the "shove the barrel along the ground whilst laying on your back" comp and the looser.
 fffff
