Game 114 - Ogres - 2019/04/01

Greetings!

After a few games online on Universal Battle 2, I have had a good opportunity to play with real models again. We had a small, local tournament organized by Tas - Capitol Bash I.

There were only 7 of us participating. I think it was just unlucky coincidence that many regular players could not attend this time. The event was organize more as a relaxed group together so we did not use chess clocks. There were three rounds, armies were at 2250 points and Black Jack scoring system was used. The factions represented were: 2 x Ogres, Trident Realms, Kingdoms of Men, Forces of the Abyss, 2 x Elves.

In the first round I was about to play against John and his Ogre army. I have never had a chance to play against John before so I was glad we finally had an opportunity to do so!

The Valley of Kings 3.1 - Ogres - 2017/08/30

In the second game I had a pleasure to play against Ogres commanded by Daniel. I have never had a chance to play against Daniel before so I was very happy to meet a new player! Daniel told me he used to play a lot of historical systems so it is good to know that Kings of War became his chosen fantasy system.

I have had a chance to play against Ogres before, however, so I knew I am to have a tough nut to crack. This was to be a battle between armies with quite different approach to warfare by default. However, Daniel emphasized melee aspect with his force even more. Here is his army list:

Clash of Kings Australia 1 - Game 5 - Ogres - 2017/02/27

In the first game of day two of the Australian Clash of Kings (and fifth game of the tournament in general) I had a pleasure to play against a veteran of Canberran wargaming scene - Tony. H has been attending the tournaments for last fifteen years and I played against his Orcs army once before. This time Tony brought Ogres that looked even meaner and more dangerous than the Orcs my Elves fought against before. And the reason for that was that the army was full of very dangerous shooters that could be quite good in melee too!

KoW - 3d6 October - Game 2 - Ogres - 2016/11/10

Greetings!

In the game 2 of 3d6 October tournament I met Tim who commanded the army of brutal Ogres! It was the first event for Tim and for me it was the first game against Ogres in Kings of War. In round 1 Tim has already defeated another Elven army so I guess he knew how to deal with my force. 

In this game the challenge was to fight against a new army and against the clock too. Encouraged by the success in the first battle I was at least reassured that I can play fast enough. But coming up with a good plan against a completely new army was a different story :) Let's have a look at what Tim brought to the table:
