What To Do With Old Calendars?

What do you do with your old calendars? Do you throw them away or reuse them? Tallgrass Designs took a picture of Paris/Eiffel Tower from a calendar and framed it. My nieghbor has a set of three related pictures from the same calendar framed on her walls. They look great!

MOST VIEWED LINK LAST WEEK!

I can see why this Christmas advent calendar was the most viewed link last week. It is adorable!!! The Southern Stamper made this adorable paper craft!

BLOG TIP FOR THE WEEK! This week's tip is from ME.

Want to know how to figure out how many views you are getting from other sites? In your Google Analytics, after you "view report," click on "Traffic Sources." Then click on "Referring Sites."

A list of sites address and how many people come to visit your site from that there (and a bunch of other statistics) will appear. If you advertise a business or want to know where you traffic is coming from, do this! If you don't have Google Analytics, you really should get it!

Don't forget to check out the Giveaway Directory tomorrow! It amazes me how few people enter giveaways. This is your chance at free stuff! FYI, this link is only open for one day. If you are going to do a giveaway and want to feature it here, make sure you link it up sometime on Thursday.

This week's Categorically Crafting show on Friday will be great. The theme is

SEWING/CRAFT ROOMS.

Let's see YOUR sewing or craft rooms!!! The link will be open all week. Come back on Friday to see everyone's creativity.

You know what to do. Enter your project (up to 4 links), tip, idea, recipe, whatever. Visit others. Leave comments. PLEASE NO ETSY SHOPS! Come back again in the next few days more projects are added throughout the week. Let the fun begin! (Because blogging is not my full-time job, I will not be able to visit every link. I apologize.)

Disney Countdown!

The Crafting Chicks

To start Disney Days off, we have an awesome Disney countdown from Jaime at

The Crafting Chicks.

We are going to Disneyland next month! My kiddos are thrilled but I think I might be just a bit more excited about the trip. I could live in Disneyland. I love the smells, sights, and how cute and clean everything is. I am hoping my obsession wears off on my almost 4 year olds. To get the family excited, I made this chart to hang up 30 days before to begin the countdown.

I made the 16x20 chart in photoshop as well as the circles to cover up the numbers. I printed both the chart and circles at Costco.
I used the adorable
Oh Boy! papers-the ABC's from the talented Crystal Wilkerson over at Jessica Sprague. I thought that the red and white polka dot paper and all of the bright, happy colors were a perfect fit for our Disneyland countdown!
I then cut out the circles and they are ready to be placed on our chart each day. Oh...I also added Velcro to the back of the circles and placed them on the countdown chart. That way the kids can place them easily and we can also use this again and again.

So before your next DisneyLand adventure, you must make one of these countdowns! Your kiddos will love it!
If you would like to download the template I made, here are the links. Please remember, this is for personal use only. Thank you!

Head over to The Crafting Chicks to thank Jaime for this amazing addition to your next Disney trip!

Wedding Gift Galore!

With all the upcoming wedding this month, we all need ideas to give as gifts. Here are a few that I think any bride and groom would love! Link up your wedding gifts ideas at the bottom.

Anything with the couple's new last name makes newlyweds happy! It will be displayed for years (or at least until a new baby comes)! The Creative Crate created this personalized name blocks HERE.

His and Hers gifts are very fun! Make something like this for the bathroom or closet or maybe even a key rack. Lots of ideas for his/hers gifts. This idea is from All Things Beautiful!

Be the guest who gets the most compliments by making a wedding towel cake for a wedding gift. Can you hear the ooohs and aaaahs? The Pretty Policy made this cute You can also make some for the kitchen with kitchen towels or dishtowels, adding gadgets with long handles, like utensils, garden hand tools or anything else long and skinny! Way to cool!

I love these alphabet art photos. They would be great wedding gifts for anyone (especially if you created one with the newlyweds last name)! Read this post at Reinvented by Little Lizard King. She shares how to make these photo words by yourself (with the help of the internet.) See the fun idea HERE.

Monograms on the newlyweds initials with a big ampersand make a great gift! Who wouldn't love something like this hanging on a wall? Are We There Yet? shows how to make these gifts. (via Creative Crate.)
You've seen the fun gifts and signs with words or names spelled from objects. Take that idea one step farther by making a "date" sign or gift using various mismatched numbers. Perfect for a wedding/anniversary! Wouldn't that be fun with the person's first or last name written above or to the side of the numbers? I see this starting a new wedding gift trend. Learn how to make these at Hope Studios. Go HERE.

If the couple is LDS, anything with a temple on it makes a great gift. See how to make these personalized temple blocks HERE at Oopsey Daisy.

I personally think this is a grand idea for a wedding gift. No bride wants to go without knowing the in-laws important dates (namely birthdates). You may need to explain what it is and how to use it in a card, but it will be well-accepted. Learn how to make perpetual birthday calendars for yourself and as gifts for others on Nannygoat.

What wedding gifts can you add?

Please join your crafty post if, and only if, it corresponds with the category and theme of WEDDING GIFTS. (If it doesn't fit in this category, please link it up to Whatever Goes Wednesday.) Link up crafts, decor, sewing projects, food, tips, etc, that has to do with WEDDING GIFTS. If you have joined a WEDDING GIFTS project to a party on my blog before, feel free to add it to this show too! If you have a lot of mirror projects, please choose your favorites. (Please no more than 4 posts per blog). Link to the specific posts, not to your main blog page.

Let's see what you have created (either recently or in the past)!
You can paste the "Categorically Crafting" button onto your blog post. I would love to see these floating around so more people can post their themed projects. I will leave this linky post open until next CC Show. Keep checking back for more ideas!!!
The next 3 Categorically Crafting Shows are as follows
:
August 13 - Back To School

August 20 - Beach

August 27 - Lamps

And don't forget that this coming week is the Back 2 School Bash here at Someday Crafts. I am still accepting tips, traditions, crafts and giveaways for the week. Please email me at somedaycrafts@gmail.com to participate or submit an idea!

Old Frame Calendar

Take an old frame (or window) and draw a basic calendar with permanent marker so it doesn't erase. Fill in the particulars with dry erase every month. Super smart and cheap!!! Run to the thrift store, grandma's house or nearest garage sale and buy a big frame. Then go to the Creative Crate to learn the details of this project!!!

Here is another erasable calendar project on The Stories of A to Z. Isn't it pretty?
Maybe you would like this option with vinyl lettering too? Just A Girl has the details.
Looks like there is no excuse for not having an erasable calendar!!!
