A nice Pre-FM recording from Judas Priest's Metal Conqueror Tour 1984 promoting their 9th studio album Defenders Of The Faith. Defenders Of The Faith was an immediate success as fans ate up copies sending the disc to Platinum status. Critics actually hated the album saying it sounded too close to Screaming For Vengeance and lacked a stand out single. Fans gave the critics a big middle finger and kept "Freewheel Burning", "Rock Hard Ride Free", "Love Bites", and "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" in heavy rotation on Heavy Metal friendly FM radio stations by requesting them over and over again. This Pre-FM recording tops off Rosebud's tribute to the Metal God Rob Halford.

After Rob Halford's departure from Judas Priest in 1991 fans were gobsmacked. What was going to happen to Judas Priest?, what was Rob going to do solo? The answers to those questions would come in 1993 with the release of Fight's debut, War Of Words and in 1996 with Judas Priest's Jugulator. Yep it took that long to find someone who could stand in the Metal God's shoes. It was an unknown singer in a Judas Priest tribute band. War Of Words was well received by most fans as it seemed like a heavier take on the Judas Priest formula. This soundboard recording is a great representation of the power and force delivered live by Rob's new band, Rosebud chose it for her tribute to Rob Halford stating that it was an absolute necessity for all Judas Priest/Rob Halford collectors.

When Rob Halford announced the break up of his first solo band, Fight, fans were hoping that a reunion with Judas Priest was in the cards. Alas it was not to be. It was soon announced that Rob would be forming a band with John Lowery to indulge a love for Techno music. Before the release of the 2wo projects only album, Rob broke the news that he was gay. Most fans reaction was ...we kinda knew Rob. The album Voyeurs was ill received by fans who were disappointed in the disc's lack of an edge. Rob had also taken on a more subdued vocal approach, which he claimed was the idea of producer Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame. The band did tour in support of the album however the tour was not a success. The band broke up in 1998 as Rob formed Halford, a return to Heavy Metal form.

While planning her little tribute to the Metal God Rosebud decided that no true Rob Halford fan should be with out this short soundboard recording in their collection.

Unofficial End Of Summer / Back To School Bootleg Blow Out

We have had a great summer at our new home (above photo taken in our back yard at dusk) and we hope all our friends have had a great summer, too. Here in The States, Labor Day is considered to be the unofficial end of summer due to students returning to class all over the country at this time. To celebrate the end of another fine summer we at The New JDP have uploaded 11 fresh new boots. Dead Can Dance, Paul Rodgers, John McLaughlin Trio, Meat Loaf, Santana, The Fixx, and Shooting Star all make return appearances. We also have some first time postings from Ronnie Montrose as a solo artist (he has been featured in Montrose and a fabulous Eddie Money concert posting), The Outlaws (much more to come from these Southern Rockers in the future), the mighty Nazareth (a lot more to come from them trust us!), and Trapeze (haven't seen much from these guys so quite a treat). It took a little longer than expected to get this large upload project together (we had hoped for it to be finished and up by Friday), we hope that there is something for everyone to enjoy!!

Thank You Everyone And Enjoy The Tunz!!!

Our first post at The New JDP from the Florida Guitar Army, The Outlaws, is a great sounding recording. From the sound quality it could actually be a Pre-FM but it came me to me labeled FM so that's how I'll post it. The Outlaws 3 and 4 part harmonies set them apart from their Southern Rock contemporaries. Their 3 guitar attack was the highlight of their live sound where the song Green Grass and High Tides would be stretched past the 20 minute mark, here it reaches 21 minutes and includes a drum solo as well.

John Ogden - Congos

A short recording from Trapeze, the tape shows a little age but is listenable. I haven't seen too many bootlegs from Trapeze myself so this is a must have for fans. Glen Hughes left Trapeze after the 1973 tour to replace Roger Glover in Deep Purple MKII. Mel Galley, who died from esophagus cancer in 2008, would go on to join Whitesnake from 1982 thru 1984. Mel had to leave Whitesnake in 1984 due to a terrible hand injury which kept him from playing guitar for a few years. He later invented an apparatus called the claw to aid in his return to guitar. Dave Holland would join Judas Priest in 1979 and would play with them until 1989. Dave is started working on a tell all book in 2006 while still in prison for sexual assault (a crime he still denies), he is out of prison since 2012.

Another nice radio broadcast from Shooting Star, this time promoting their III Wishes album. The album contained two radio hits in "Are You Ready" & "Heartache". Keyboard player Bill Guffey had departed but the rest of the original line-up would last until 1984 when bassist Ron Verlin departed. This broadcast has all the fan live favorites from "Are You On My Side" to a smoking version of "Last Chance". Download this one now if you are a fan because there isn't a lot of Shooting Star radio shows out there.

I got this from the old Hear Rock City site so thanks go out to them!

A solid sounding soundboard recording from the classic 4 man line-up of Nazareth. Nazareth released 2 albums in 1976, Close Enough For Rock & Roll and Play 'n' The Game. Play 'n' The Game was released in November but not one song from that album appears in this set. That being said our first Nazareth post here at The New JDP is an absolute killer must have!

Another fabulous performance from Dead Can Dance, this time an FM broadcast of a show from the tour to promote Aion. This is a very clean sounding recording that should be enjoyed with headphones and a fine glass of wine (or maybe a smoke!). If you have enjoyed the previous Dead Can Dance uploads you shouldn't miss this one either.
