2 MINUTE TOY BREAK !

If you haven't been over to  GIJigsaw's  site to check out his awesome custom action figure artwork, I suggest you do so. Recently Jigs put the word out and gave readers of his site the chance to pick out 4 characters from any action figure line to be immortalized on canvas and I chose a few Mattel Marvel Secret Wars classics!  Jigs even added the lightning bolt to the deep blue background, staying true to the vintage card art!  The colors used match the figures perfectly! Even Dr. Doom got the metallic silver treatment. Black suit Spidey!!! I'm really digging these and appreciate the "First Four" freebie deal! Jigs completely knocked it out of the park and It's cool to know that I have the first series of Mattel Marvel Secret Wars figure paintings! This couldn't have been a better fit.I know Doom has a jet pack and his doombots fly as well,but sometimes you gotta bring out the big guns.I picked up this Star Wars snow speeder on a hunch and it paid off.The cool thing about it lies in its simplicity.It doesn't  necessarily look like a snow themed vehicle at all.Its generic design makes it perfect for re purposing.Dr.Doom fits in the drivers seat nicely without his cape on and even though this is a two seater ,you have the option of standing the passenger figure up to man the gun turret.                                         The ship gives off that Doom vibe ,doesn't it?                                            Another cool feature  is the removeable turret. I felt like Doom needed to put a stamp on his new stomping grounds ,so I went ahead and had some  wallet size copies  made of his logo and portrait.They're small touches but I like It.I didn't want to glue or tape anything in  place ,though,as I may want to use this castle In the future for my Joes and other 3 3/4 figures.I've already got some other things In mind so stay tuned .

It's official.I have dubbed the Fisher Price castle I recently found at a garage sale,Castle Doom!I'll also use It for other figures In certain pics and such,but for the most part,this is primarily MU Dooms crib.I'd like to find some computer monitors to throw in there somewhere and maybe a throne,although this version of Doom won't be doing much sitting.I was thinking about giving It a little paint job,maybe a black wash ,but you know what?It doesn't look half bad the way It is.

I thought It might be nice to whip out the old Mattel Secret Wars Doom  , to see how It stacks up against the newer Marvel Universe Doom.Lets take a look at the two shall we... Right away,you'll notice that the Marvel Universe Doom Is aesthetically superior to the more kid friendly,Mattel Doom.While I like Hasbro's overall look,I actually prefer Mattel's head sculpt. Check out the eyes on the Secret  Wars Doom.While they're not painted,you can still see the outline of  the eyes.I don't remember him having yellow/gold eyes at any point In the comics.Maybe Hasbro was going for the glowing,evil look.I like a more humanized Doom as opposed to a glowing eyed Doom-bot . Mattel could have gone the extra mile and added a cape to their version.Doom needs a cape!Hasbro takes the cake in that department.But while I have the two with their backs turned ,notice the kick ass jet pack on Secret Wars Doom that doubles as a holster for any one of his two blasters.I lik...

Hasbro released their Marvel Universe Dr.Doom figure way back In 2009,and I'm just getting around to picking one up.This guy Is almost impossible to find under 20 bucks online and If your lucky to find one at a toy re seller, be prepared to pay about the same.I won this guy in an Ebay auction for about 11 bucks shipped,and I couldn't be happier with the purchase.Every other time I've placed bids on this figure,20 people jump In and bump the high bid amount  above the 15 dollar mark and I refuse to pay more than 10 bucks for a 3 3/4 figure.It's insane ,I know.Now ,I finally have a Doom figure  worthy of leading the small  team of  villains I've been slowly amassing.Now ,we celebrate!
