Toy Story: Cereal Dunk Woody Movie Collectible Figure

This Toy R Us exclusive Toy Story "Cereal Dunk Woody" was released by Mattel in 2009 as part of their "Movie Collectibles" line of premium action figures. This was a very cool assortment of articulated figures featuring a unique selection of characters housed in "display worthy" collector packaging. For whatever reason though, I never picked them up back in the day and now I'm stuck trying to track them down on eBay (at least the select few that really interest me). This one was a must have.

In addition to Cereal Dunk Woody here, the line also included Rocky Gibraltar (which I showed Wednesday HERE), a standard Woody, Buzz Lightyear, "Bug Face" Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Bo Peep and Jingle Joe.

Based on the classic interrogation scene in Sid's room (specifically after which when Woody dunks his head in a bowl of cereal to stop his burning forehead), this is definitely one of, if not the most unique Woody variation out there. There have been many Woody figures over the last 21 years, but this is the only version with fruit loops attached to his face. How funny right? Totally brilliant idea very well executed.

He is about 4.5" tall (with the hat), has articulation in his neck, arms, legs and ankles (none in the elbows, wrists or knees) and stands on his own without any balance issues. The detail in the sculpt is spot on and the paint application is really great. I love that they even made sure to include his burn mark! "I sure hope this isn't permanent..."

Toy Story: Three Aliens ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush Set

OoooooOOoooOOoooOOOOooo....

Following the Peas in a Pod Tsum Tsum set I showed off last week, here we have another [relatively] new addition to the Disney·Pixar Toy Story Tsum Tsum collection; this adorable Toy Story inspired Pizza Planet Aliens 3-Pack! This is an online exclusive, released on the DisneyStore.com early last month on August 2nd (along with the peas).

This is yet another fun little set featuring three normal sized mini Tsums Tsums (about 3.5" in size each) housed in a soft plush Pizza Planet style rocket ship (about 9.5 in size). The Tsums themselves can be removed and stacked like usual. Again, I really love how each one is unique with a different facial expression!

Though a single alien Tsum was already released back in the original Toy Story Tsum Tsum collection, I couldn't resist this set of three. The whole space ship presentation is out of this world cute! Plus, one can't have enough Toy Story aliens in my book.

Toy Story: Rocky Gibraltar Movie Collectible Figure

In 2009, Mattel released a neat Toys R Us exclusive line of premium Toy Story "Movie Collectible" action figures. This was a very cool assortment of articulated figures featuring a unique selection of characters housed in "display worthy" collector packaging. For whatever reason though, I never picked them up back in the day and now I'm stuck trying to track them down on eBay (at least the select few that really interest me). Why do I do that!? :P

In addition to this fantastic Rocky Gibraltar figure, the line also included Woody, Buzz Lightyear, "Bug Face" Buzz Lightyear, "Cereal Dunk" Woody, Hamm, Bo Peep and Jingle Joe.

Rocky is a character that has gotten very little merchandise made of him over the years (in fact, there has yet to be a full scale movie accurate version), so this was one of the first in the line that I was interested in tracking down. I was able to snag it on eBay recently for around $25.

He is about 3.5" tall and has articulation in his neck (head can spin all the way around), arms (ball jointed shoulders), elbows, legs and ankles (basically everywhere but the wrists and waist). The detail in the sculpt is spot on and the paint application is really great.

Below I included a pic of Rocky next to my standard movie sized [Toy Story Collection] Buzz Lightyear, so you can have a better sense of his small scale. I'm still holding out for a movie sized Rocky toy one day. It has to happen eventually right? At this point I've waited 21 years, so I'll just keep on hoping

Finding Dory: Zuru Robo Fish Coffee Pot Playset

A couple weeks back, I posted my long overdue write-up of the really fun Finding Dory swimming Robo Fish collection from Zuru Toys (check it out HERE). Today, as promised, I'm continuing on with that line and taking a look at the corresponding Coffee Pot Playset with exclusive swimming Dory with transfer tag!

This is a must have if you're collecting this line of Robo Fish. Not only is it worth it for the exclusive Dory, but it's also just a really fun way to take the imaginative play up a notch. It's perfect for kids who want to recreate Dory's memorable adventure in the Marine Life Institute as she searches for her long lost parents. It's as close as you can get to having a real life Dory and the actual Coffee Pot prop from the film! 

Just fill up the pot with water and you're set to go. Like with the rest of the Robo Fish, this plastic Dory is battery operated and water activated (three button cell batteries are required and already installed- three extra batteries are included). As soon as the she hits the water, the two carbon sensors will kick in and trigger her lifelike swimming movement. On the flip side, she will stop moving when taken out of the water. No need for any kind of ON/OFF switch! It's really neat how it all works.

Though the space is small, Dory swims around the perimeter of the pot pretty well. After swimming for an extended period of time, Dory will "fall asleep." To wake her up, just tap on the pot and she will "just keep swimming."

Dory is just over four inches long. The coffee pot itself is entirely made of plastic and is about eight inches high and just under eight inches wide.

Original retail for this was $19.99, but it's currently on sale on Amazon for just $12.99 (direct link below). Though this was released back in early May, you can still find it easily in stores at Target, Walmart or Toys R Us.

Kids, as well as adult collectors looking to display a cool Finding Dory prop, will love this. Highly recommended! UPDATE- video unboxing added below. Feel free to "like" and subscribe :)

Toy Story 3: Peas in a Pod ''Tsum Tsum'' Plush Set

Here we have a [relatively] new addition to the Disney·Pixar Toy Story Tsum Tsum collection, this really cute Toy Story 3 inspired Peas in a Pod 3-Pack! As you may recall, a single mini Tsum of all three peas was released in the initial Toy Story collection back in 2014 (seen HERE), but this set was unique enough for me grab as well. You can't have too many Peas in a Pod!

Video Update: Disney Store Finding Dory Snowglobe

Hey everyone! So my new computer is in and everything with the set up has gone very smoothly. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to get my stuff done on here without so many issues (and everything is so much faster). Since I've gotten so behind in my YouTube videos lately, I figure this; in the next couple weeks, I'll be using a lot of my time creating new product demonstration videos, so some days (like today) I'll replace a standard blog post with a video review update. It's almost impossible for me to get to both in a day, so I'll be picking and choosing.

In today's video update, I'm featuring yesterday's Disney Store Finding Dory snowglobe so you can see it in action! I'll be adding the video to the original post as well. Hope you enjoy!

Finding Dory: Disney Store Hank & Dory Snowglobe

Hank and Dory: The coolest septopus and blue tang duo to ever hit the silver screen. These characters and their interactions were so much fun to watch in Finding Dory that I couldn't resist this fantastic Disney Store exclusive snowglobe (in fact, I got this for my birthday back in May before I even saw the film- I just knew it would be great). It captures their first meeting and overall adventure in the Marine Life Institute perfectly!

I'm so happy to see the Disney Store snowglobes making a comeback. They used to be commonplace with each new Disney/Pixar film, but there hasn't been a Pixar themed snowglobe release since Brave in 2012. I hope this is the start of a resurgence.

Taking a look at the outer box; it's pretty neat, showing off the globe from all angles.

Now for the unboxing. This is a wonderfully sculpted and finely detailed snowglobe. The character likenesses are spot on and the paint application is almost flawless. Though some people have claimed this is made of plastic or rubber, it's actually a coated resin material with the globe itself, of course, being glass (so yes, the entire sculpt is very breakable). I love the addition of the metal Finding Dory logo plaque on the front there as well- nice little touch.

The entire snowglobe is about six inches high with an eight inch diameter.

Part of the fun of Disney snowglobes is their features (some play music, some light up, etc.). This one includes an automated blower inside the "coffee pot" so that the glitter twirls around on its own without shaking! You can see the ON/OFF switch on the back there (requires 3 AA batteries, included).

 

There you can see that Dory even has her 3181 transfer tag.

There are still plenty of these in stock at my local Disney Store and on the Disney Store's website, so it should be pretty easy for you to track down if you're interested. Retail is $89.95.

Finding Dory: "Swigglefish" Collection WAVE 2

Swigglefish are back in a brand new "wave" (Get it? Like the ocean?) of characters! Bandai Toys released the initial collection back in May and, as promised, additional characters are now hitting shelves (with even more on the way later this year). To view my full write-up and overview of the line thus far, check out my original post right HERE. This collection has been one of my Finding Dory favorites, so I'm very happy that it's continuing.

To catch you up, here's some info on exactly what these are. These are the only Finding Dory figures that have "motion outside of the ocean" (As Bandai has stated). Each plastic "fish" (even though they're not all technically fish) has a wheel underneath which triggers a unique "swimming" movement when the character is rolled along a hard surface. They "swim" and they "wiggle"...you get it! They are about three to four inches in size. Note- these are not intended for water use.

In this new trio released a few weeks back (which I found these at Toys R Us for $6.99 each), we have a new version of Dory (with tag), a new version of Hank (camouflaged black, also semi-translucent) and Mr. Ray. They all look awesome! And yes, this character selection is very reminiscent of what Bandai included in the second series of Finding Dory blind bags. Let's take a closer look at each one below-

According to the Bandai press release from earlier this year, there will be 18 Swigglefish figures launched in 2016. With these three added to the collection, that makes 12 so far. Wave three is set to hit soon and will include Crush, Baby Dory and "Tile" Hank. If the plan for 18 this year still stands, that means there are still three unknown characters set to be released in a wave four! Who could they be? Who would you want to see included? Stay tuned right here for more info soon.

Toy Story: Sid's Room Figure Gift Pack (Hasbro, 2001)

Only three days (ish) until my new computer comes! I seriously cannot wait guys and I look forward to giving you more content than ever before. This is the first post I've been able to get to all week, due to the aforementioned technical difficulties, so I'm thrilled that my current computer is cooperating today (again, barely).

Clear back in March of this year, I purchased and posted about the 2001 Hasbro Andy's Room Figure Gift Pack from the "Toy Story and Beyond" line of toys. I'm happy to report that I finally tracked down the [even cooler] second set in this series, the fantastic Sid's Room Figure Gift Pack! This one was much harder to find (at least for an affordable price), but after searching and waiting for months, I prevailed. I knew one would pop up on eBay eventually (I ended up paying around $40).

Once again, this is a really nice bunch of figures overall. I always enjoy going back to some of the old items that I missed out on back in the day. This set is particularly special, since there are very, very few products out there based on any of Sid's mutant toys. These are the only toys I have of Legs, Roller Bob, Ducky and Hand-in-the-Box (not to mention they're some of the only officially licensed versions of these characters out there in general); so I'm excited to finally have them, as well as this particular version of Baby Head (or "Baby Face" as I call it) and Buzz with rocket, represented in my collection!

By the way, the only other "official" toys out there of Roller Bob and Hand-in-the-Box (that I'm aware of) are also from Hasbro (seen below). These ones though, also from Hasbro's "Toy Story & Beyond" line (which got a bit too silly for my taste so I never bought them), are more chunky and stylized and are part of a separate assortment of figures geared more toward younger kids.

Lets take a closer look at each of the six mini figurines! Each character stands at about 2"- 3.5" tall, is made of a PVC plastic and stays true to the look and style of the film (definitely for slightly older kids/collectors). With that, also keep in mind that none of the figures are posable or have any kind of articulation.

This is a great gift pack for kids to play with, as well as for older collectors to display! Man, I would have loved to see the other mutants include as well, such as Jingle Joe, Rockmobile, the frog, walking car and pterodactyl head Sally...but oh well; it's still a pretty sweet selection here. If I've piqued your interest in tracking this down, keep a look out on eBay using this direct link (there aren't any complete sets currently listed, but one shows up every month or so).
