Toy Story 4 PEZ Collection Review

toy story 4 pez

Toy Story 4 PEZ are here! I've been a pretty avid collector of Pixar related PEZ for about seven years now (see my PEZ label to the right of this page to explore) and was excited to see that a few new Toy Story designs were headed our way. Bo Peep is notably the newest here of these four (given that she's never been made in PEZ form), while Buzz, Woody and the alien are more retoolings of older releases. You can check out my original Toy Story PEZ post HERE (one of my very first posts on here ever).

In addition to these two collector sets, Woody, Buzz and Bo Peep have also been released individually (and can be found at stores like Five Below, CVS and other convenient/grocery stores). I opted to get these gift sets though so I could get the exclusive mini alien! The set with Buzz is the only way to get that one, so it only made sense.

Let's dive in to each of these further! Check out my detailed photos and additional thoughts below.

WOODY & BO PEEP
Woody is the exact same sculpt as the original, however his eyes have been repainted to look much more appealing (he looked a bit "dazed" in the initial release). Now his eyes are wide open instead of half shut. Bo, as mentioned, is brand new and looks great.

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR & ALIEN
Buzz is also basically the same as the original, but this time he's sporting a white stem instead of a green one (he also has an updated, glossier paint job and his teeth are now painted in). As far as the alien, it's essentially the original head sculpt now on a mini stem—and the classic Pizza Planet icon has been added! I'm so glad they included that detail on this version. It's a really nice touch that was missing when the alien was first released in 2014.

All in all, they all look fantastic; both the PEZ dispensers themselves and the packaging! Though I wish we had a couple more new characters (Ducky, Bunny and Duke Caboom), it's fun to at least have Bo and some of the old designs/characters refreshed for 2019.  I purchased these sets at the PEZ Factory/Visitor Center in the next town over from me (in Orange, CT—it's a pretty awesome place to visit and they have a huge shop) for $4.99 each. You can also find them on the official PEZ online shop, eBay using this direct link and Amazon using the affiliate links below.

Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments!

NOTE: The art for these sets was directed by Keith Fulmis, lead designer at Disney Consumer Products for PEZ.

Incredibles 2: PEZ Assortment

Incredibles 2 PEZ

Here comes...THE INCREDIPEZ! Or perhaps, THE INPEZIBLES! Either way, check out these new Incredibles 2 PEZ dispensers, which I found last month at JoAnn Fabrics in their Incredibles themed section (see my in-store report HERE). Dash and Jack-Jack here are both brand new sculpts, while this is the first ever PEZ release of Violet! For whatever reason, she was not included in the original 2004 The Incredibles PEZ lineup—so that makes her a long time coming! PEZ collectors have only been waiting 14 years for the Parr family to be complete in candy dispenser form. Pretty crazy.

These are the first Pixar themed PEZ since Finding Dory in 2016.

Incredibles 2 PEZ

My write-up on the original Incredibles PEZ assortment was one of my very first blog posts on here EVER—clear back in July of 2013! Check it out HERE. Below I've included some comparison pics so you can see the old Dash (left) next to the new Dash and the old Jack-Jack (left) next to the new Jack-Jack! Just like in the the new film itself, you'll notice the character sculpts are vastly improved.

Do you like how they gave Dash and Violet little torsos? Or do you prefer just the heads like with the originals?

Like I mentioned, I found these at JoAnn Fabrics (they were $2.49 each), but I'm sure they can be found elsewhere (sometimes Michael's Crafts has PEZ, or even pharmacies like Walgreens or CVS). I also noticed that some retailers are selling these exact same dispensers, only they're in bags rather than cardbacks (seen HERE).

Lastly, there is also a boxed gift set [3-Pack] out there (though I'm not sure where it's sold other than online) with an exclusive mini Jack-Jack dispenser. That's pretty cool! Maybe I should have gone for that, but oh well. You can view and purchase that set on the PEZ site HERE for $7.99 or on Amazon using the direct link below.

And here's today's Instagram pic showing off the completed family at last! Be sure to leave all your thoughts and/or any questions you might have down in the comments.

Finding Dory: PEZ Assortment

finding dory pez

Finding Dory PEZ, featuring Dory, Bailey and Nemo, are now available! I honestly didn't even know these were out yet, so I was excited when I stumbled upon them at CVS Pharmacy last night.

The initial store I found these at had them stocked in the seasonal section (as seen below)...

But I also saw them near the registers at a different CVS later, so it depends which store you go to. Just have a good look around there if you're trying to track these down.

Lets take a good look at these out of the package-

From what I've read, these are actually the very first PEZ to have translucent stems! I thought that was a pretty neat touch.

Beyond the new stems however, both the Nemo and Dory PEZ are essentially straight repacks with subtle new paint jobs. I've included some comparison pics below, with the new 2016 versions on the left and the original 2006 versions on the right.

Soon you'll also be able to get get all three of these in a fish bowl gift pack as well (seen HERE). However, the stems on all three of those ones are blue; so they are technically different from these single pack releases. If you're a completest collector of all variants, you might just need them all!

Unfortunately for us here in the U.S., the Hank PEZ (seen HERE) is a European exclusive. I was so looking forward to that one the most too! eBay here I come...

UPDATE 6/11/16-
The Hank PEZ had officially been added to my collection! And yes, I had to resort to an eBay seller in the UK (check out the listing HERE), but it wasn't all that bad. It came pretty quick and for both the PEZ and the shipping, I only paid $7.58...and it was worth it! I mean, look at this character; easily one of my favorite Pixar PEZ designs of all time.

Note- It was cool to see the European packaging too (shorter card, rounded bubble) since I didn't know it varied from the US look.

Toy Story of Terror: PEZ Cat

Here we have a very exciting brand new 2014 PEZ release..."PEZ Cat" as seen in Pixar's landmark television holiday special, Toy Story of Terror! In the film, she is one of the toys held captive by the Motel's greedy manager, Ron.

This PEZ is a limited edition and a Toy R Us exclusive, which makes this a relatively hard to find character. She was released just a couple of weeks ago, on October 6th. As soon as I saw her, I was ecstatic, since I had no idea of her release (but had hoped for one since last year when I saw the film).

It's always a thrill when a "real life" version of a toy seen in any of the Toy Story films or shorts makes its way onto store shelves. I'm really hoping to see some more of the gang made from Toy Story of Terror, such as a full size Combat Carl, the Lego Bunny, Old Timer, the Pocketeer and others.

Of course I had to fill it with the "film accurate" pink PEZ!

And yes, I couldn't resist reenacting this classic moment...

There we have it...another memorable Toy Story character immortalized in plastic! I couldn't be happier with this release. If you'd like to add PEZ Cat to your collection, be sure to check your local Toy R Us. Here is the UPC number, if you'd like to call ahead to make sure they have any in stock before you make the drive: 073621090309

If you're having trouble finding this is stores, you can always head to eBay using the link below:

Toy Story of Terror was directed by the great Angus MacLane and can now be purchased on DVD and Blu-Ray. Find it in stores or on Amazon HERE! Additionally if you're a fan of PEZ, be sure to check out my other Pixar related PEZ dispensers HERE.

Toy Story: PEZ Collection

I can finally post about the Toy Story PEZ series after I found Hamm at Toys R Us last night! Not only was he the last one I needed from Toy Story, but was the last one I needed to complete my Pixar Pez Collection. Here we have Rex, Hamm, Jessie, Woody, Slinky and Buzz.

UPDATE- 4/26/14:
Last month, PEZ released this brand new Toy Story character for 2014...the Pizza Planet Alien! I was scrolling through the Pixar hastag on Instagram and saw someone had posted this. I had no idea it was even out until I saw that. Of course, I had to order it right away and now my Toy Story PEZ collection is really complete....for now. I wonder if they'll be any more? What Toy Story character would you like to see turned into a PEZ?

I picked this one up on eBay for about $3 but I also heard he's starting to show up at Walmart and Toys R Us stores, so keep your eyes peeled if you're interested in adding this guy to your collection.

And here is my entire collection together (Update: excluding the new Alien since this was taken a while back). Too bad they never made any A Bug's Life or Up dispensers. Wonder why?

Lastly, if you've never seen this one, this is John Ratzenberger themed set made and presented to John by PEZ which includes every character he has played in at Pixar. It is not available to the public (too bad!) but is pretty cool to check out!

The Incredibles: PEZ Collection

Here is my complete set of The Incredibles PEZ! The characters included are: Mr. Incredible, Mrs. Incredible, Dash and Jack-Jack. Also out there are VERY RARE "unmasked" versions of these that were only available in Europe, but those sell for $80 through well over $100. As tempting as it is to fork out for those (as a self-proclaimed "completist"), I'll honestly just stick with these ones.
