I'm a specky....

Huhu... I hate to wear spectacles. I love to look at people wearing them, but I don't like to put them on. I told myself I am not going to wear glasses, and if I really need to do so, I'd go for contact lenses.

Just like how I announced to people I would never use Nokia (because at that time, too many people using Nokia)... then I end up with Nokia... until now.. even when people start to opt for other mobile series.

This week... I end up making a pair of glasses for myself.

Out of confusion (from the machine test) it showed my power had gone high, and I ordered the glasses before the real test.

After the real test, the results came out like this.

Right Eye : farsightedness +25 astigmatism +50
Left Eye: farsightedness 0 astigmatism +25

Huh... Not so high kan... Do I need the glasses eh? Deep down inside, I wanted to walk out without my brand new glasses. But then, the reason I did the check-up was, I had problem reading from presentation slides and driving at night. Yes... astig! I wanted to get glasses to ease my eyes from straining so much. Vision... I can read words but sometimes they seem to be smudged. Even the lights seemed smudged when I drive at nite, need to squint my eyes.

Huhu.... contact lenses? No... I'm not ready for that... UWaaaa.... so have to wear glasses jugak!... waawaaa...

I hate to wear glasses coz I was never able to find a suitable frame for my face. I don't even own a sunglass for the same reason. Everytime I try to look for a suitable one, I end up disappointed. Too picky kot? Haha... so now... nak tak nak... kena pick one... Pilih punya pilih... I end up choosing this one, coz I think this frame with lighter color makes me look softer :P~ others make me look so garang... and ouh... it's PINK... haha...

opppss... ter-pose kontrol ayu pulakss..... bagi memastikan tak nampak garang gitu... huhu

Haha.. I plan to wear it only when I'm driving and attend classes/talks... and maybe sometimes when I use the computer.

Ouh... I know it's a petty issue... bit too dramatic... adoiiii.... But... uwaaaaa.... Me have to wear speck di... uwaauhuhu....

Thanx Acha (alisa) and Aca (aisyah) sbb teman, bg pendapat dan beri sokongan moral!! :D:P~ *and Zue BB, tenkiu (huhu mcm mana bleh termiss-out nie,) :* biks...

Cap Ayam

Things which are not listed as branded, exclusive or cool-stuff, are known as “cap-ayam”. I never had problem with cap-ayams as long as these cap-ayams serve as much as what I have paid for. In any purchase, the more you pay, higher expectations you have for an item.

I do not crave for branded-stuff. Sometimes I can be totally uneducated about these things. Example?
“Gurllsss… Miss Lola has a new coach bag… yaddaa yadaa”
Coach… whose coach? Sports bag ker tu? Like a bag where a coach usually wears in a sporting event ke?

When others are impressed about the brand, I would be imagining something else… but of course… the female gene in me would quickly get excited as well with the fact that something female-ish has been purchased, and it’s new… regardless of the brand!

I buy branded stuff when the amounts of money I pay still make sense to my budget. Branded not for the sake of popularity but quality… then yes, I would grab it!

I’m a simple shopper. If a product I bought happened to be some branded or exclusive stuff… there’s nothing to be showcased about. If that product happened to be some cap-ayam, there’s nothing to be hidden or ashamed off. Most of these cap-ayams are locally made...kiranya, menyokong barangan buatan tempatan laah kan...

I do not have anything against anyone buying things any way they like.

But It makes me wonder… when
  • Some people make a big deal out of a purchase especially the brand... It's not like it's in everyone's priority list... :P they'll make some ppl confused about the whole big deal
  • Some people feel so shy about what they put on when they think it’s assumed not to be chic, what worse… to some… their confidence level tend to be affected by that
  • Some people look down on others who are not as 'branded' as they are
  • Some people trying too hard to catch up with trends, or buy things off their budget. Some even berhutang or berikat perut… huhu… sayangilah perut anda.. makan mesti kenyang dulu yaa :P~
I go for cap ayams.. but I have problem with things like Adidas translated as Adidos / Abibas… or Chanel as Channel or Guess as Guest? Wearing them just makes me feel pirated. Hihihik…

But all in all,

People have different tastes. You can’t force someone who loves LV to buy some local brand, and you can’t force someone who loves selipar cap ayam to switch to Adidas.

What matters, we should be happy with what we have/wear/use. Not too happy until you need to brag about it… but just happy enough to make you feel comfortable and confident having them around.

p/S:
With the current uncertainties in economy, we have to remind ourselves to spend wisely. If you can afford certain things… just proceed. If you can’t, do restrict yourself… (Eee.. but some items are just irresistible)… tahan.. bertahanlahh saya…

Bye Bye not Forever

People come and go.
Quite a famous phrase, eh
Friends...
  • If you are one friendly person, by the age 26, you would have a huge list of friends.
  • If you are more reserved, you'd prefer having less friends, only to those you're comfortable with.
  • If you are nice and good to your friends, they'll always remember you and make a point to keep in touch with you.
  • If you are evil and cruel, they'll remember you for all the wrong reasons.
How did I make friends? I did not jump schools, attended the same school from Standard 1 to Form 5 (11 years dat is). I remember I used to be lil reserved in primary days... coz most my classmates speak english (though manglish... but it was far better than mine - pronouncing Sunday as soon-die), so I was a lil shy to approach other kids. But after years picking up manglish and learning Not to make language a barrier, I opened up... and started to have more and more friends. And also, there's a chatter-box code in my DNA therefore I can't stop from "attacking" people I have seen for a decade in the same school.

Then, there's matriculation, Uni and social activities...

To strangers or people I just got to know... I am a bit slow though. At times, it takes some time before I really warm up to people.

But I am approachable and do approach people when supposed to. So i guess i'm friendly... but not tooo friendly... just moderate :P :P~

Am I a friend who comes and go? in people's memory... or am I a friend who stays put in their memory forever or long enough?

People do say I keep in touch with a lot people. I get nicknamed as the Hub, Router and Network-Line (computerized even for a nick name :P~) Yes, I do keep in touch. However, it takes 2 to tango. At times, I lost contact when someone just went MIA, or maybe I went MIA as well?

Another way of keeping in touch, is by asking. For instance, you can ask Miss X who's actively in touch with Miss W about her. You can also ask Miss X, about Miss Q, who is actively in touch with Miss W... Sending regards / kirim salam is also a good way of staying in touch. SMS and calls are even better... or maybe a poke in facebook ;-)

There's lots of ways to keep in touch.

But... we too... need to be more "visible" and "alive" to be remembered. It's not fair to expect people to remember us when all we do is sit back and hope other people make the first initiative to call. Like mentioned... it takes 2 to tango ;-)

Wehhhhh.....
all i wanted to do was post some farewell gathering photos... and I end up crapping! duh.. so me!

OK......
THere have been some series of farewell... and series of farewell makan - makan. From Mas, to Ruby to Bullert. Here's a photo from Bullert's farewell. Bullert's heading to Putrajaya for his new job... hihihihi... Bullert kena dok KL....takleh lak akak nak monitor Bullert lagi lepas ni. He's the only junior in CS I still get to bully... but not anymore dah... sob sob....
Parlimail members are decreasing???? huhuhuuhuh..... I hope 2009 activities will still be as havoc as last year's. huhuhu....

Yesterday, Merrina's farewell gathering.
Hosted by Marlina. Here's Merri posing with the gifts we got her.
She's leaving for Australia to pursue her Masters Degree. Best wishes and good luck kay. About the "please come to sydney while I'm there"... I'm kinda stuck with "student-ing" myself down here... and $ $ $ :-(
Talking about farewell and friends and keeping in touch........

Do take note of the craps above and Keep In Touch kay......
all of u... Me friends... in penang, kl, samarahan, ostrolia, amarika dan sewaktu dengannya.
*updated* yeahh... italia juga semestinya ;-)

Klik and Kebooooffff

Mari kita lakukan sedikit magis!

Gambar pertama:

Zam zam ala kazammmm..... keboooofffff !!!!!!!!!!

how we wish eh?

Oh ya... jangan lupa buka Adobe photoshop nyer dulu. Ok... marilah kita memulakan operasi pengklonan XYXX#$2331...
  1. Buka Fail gambar yang nak di-sunting... gagaga... edit=sunting kan?

(Mode: Normal) Kalau opsyen lain, susah sikit mahu memberus

Contoh:

Can u tell who's been cloned? I was the first photographer and the second photographer took this photo. Later, I cloned her. I am so glad I need not use chemical substance / formula to perform Cloning :P~ gegeggee

Na Oru Tadava Sonna.....

I just read a friend's blog. Quite a number of posts where she wrote about movies, Tamil mainly. Good reference point for me, coz I follow Tamil movies... ahaks...

I watch Tamil movies since I can't remember when. Practically, I grew up watching em. Hindi too but Tamil in majority. I know some people label anak mami penang to be very fanatic over Hindi movies... hehe... I can safely say I'm not one of them coz I'm kinda like more hardcore sikit... I watch Tamil movies instead. Yeahhhh...

There was this one time, bollywood feva hit the country, where almost everyone can sing /know one of shah rukh khan's hits... Yaa.. he's cute and all, and I enjoy his movies and all... I do enjoy some Hindi movies like Bobby, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and any movies with Juhi Chawla in it. But still... can't beat my preferences over tamil movies. Why Tamil movies?
  • Most of the stories are more believable and related to real society / human struggle/life etc
  • Some interesting / good stories in hindi movies these days are actually remake from Tamil movies, so I might as well watch it in a version I understand better :-)
  • Not all leading actors/actresses look like they belong to the calendar pose.

The fact is, there's a lot of dubbing and remakes of movies in India, (Tamil to Hindi, vice versa, Hindi to Telegu etc) to better suit the audiences' language and accent. I think it applies the same here too... although some viewers do not understand both Tamil and Hindi, given the same story line, they choose the version they are used to/ prefer. Pick your preferences... I'll stick with mine... hehe...

Oh yaa... another fact... most of my friends know who Superstar Rajinikanth is, although they never follow Tamil movies.... Zassss.... dushhhh dusssh... or famously known as Padayappa.

Like Amitabh Batchan in Hindi.... Rajinikanth in Tamil, both of them are unreplacable. You can never remake their movies and try to make another actor portray their roles... sure fail! They can only dub their movies to another language but never can they remake it, what more to maintain the same aura in it.

Huhu... ada sekali tu... In bilik TV desa Aman (first year masa tu). I tengah lepak ngan Shasha and the TV was on, an entertainment series by Malaysian Indian performing groups. Shasha excited, although she never watched Tamil movies/ videoclips. Not wanting to distract other viewers there, whispering to me, asking me what this and that meant. "Ohh.. maksud dia... mcm Rancangan Hiburan" I answered when she asked the meaning of the show. Then, ada lagu keluar dan video klip kuar... dia tanya dgn konfidennya... "Eh, Letchumy tu apa maksud dia" Terus la aku gelak terbahak-bahak dgn kuatnya... weiiii... letchumy tu nama orang laaa! Other viewers looked at us speculatively... alamak... to avoid controversy, we quickly left the room, with Shasha learning something new dat day.

My effort to influence people to watch Tamil movies/shows never ended there. With help from Alisa, fellow Tamil movies fan... we continue to make more viewers who do not understand Tamil, watch the movies / or just listen to the songs. Antara success stories:

  1. The whole lab used to listen to Tamil songs Alisa and I would play in the wee hours, when we used to stay back in the lab for final year project
  2. Make close friends around us watch at least one Tamil movie. The most popular one: Sivaji the Boss, followed by Ghajini.
  3. Transfer Tamil Mp3 songs... Paling berjaya: Zal, has become a fanatic fan of tamil songs
  4. Most of my friends know how to respond/echo to my "Tanggeci Vicca Maram" song... Paling Berjaya: back in secondary, making this song our school debate team's theme song.
  5. Turning on THR Raaga in my car (*actually dah default setting). Paling Berjaya: Aca dancing to the beat, with me in the car listening to THR Raaga... well done, Aca! Haha!

To end my post today,
famous quote from Rajinikanth...
Na Oru Tadava Sonna... Nuru Tadava Sonna Maari.
Translation: When I say it once, it's like I have said it hundred of times.
Penjelasan: I will only say it once... if it's equivalent to 100 times, it means I am very firm about it, so you better do as I say/ ask... kalau tak...
and this...

Cuba cek panggung wayang yaar ;-)

Pro-Penang?

Has been 1 year plus since I last travelled to KL to meet friends. Last year's 2 trips were strictly work and others with family.

I used to have this yearly of six-monthly visits to KL last time, after my matriculations. Having some close friends studying in universities in KL area... I'd love to make my self-adventure down to kl, venture all the posssible LRTs or Komuters to meet as much friends as I could. At the same time, it was a treat for me-self for jalan-jalan after struggling with exams or run away from loads of assignments.

After we graduated, some were still studying, some still looking for jobs. Even some friends who studied in Penang, came down to KL to look for jobs etc. Back then, the trips were very much anticipated as well. Jumping from one friend's house to another was fun. Sharing their career building moments were memorable.

At times, some reunions happen only when I came down from Penang. Although quite a number of them work in KL, they don't usually get the luxury of setting a right time to meet. So, when I did go down to visit, they knew they had to arrange the luxury somehow. Ye lah.. I dah datang jauh- jauh.

Then...
after a few years.... I start to be very attached with my "Penang-life" - work, studies and photography... and I realise many of my friends over there are getting busier with life as well. Some already moving to another phase (marriage)... i'm saying it as another phase coz it's a phase I'm not in, yet :P~ haha... So, my so called self-adventures down to KL has lessened. I'd love to do more real adventure thingy now... like hiking and camping yaa... (*ok, parlimail?)

Hahaa.. and yaaa.. the never-ending debates between KL-Lovers and Penang-Lovers. Okie, definitely I'm on Penang-Lovers side... haahhaa... yoshh!

There were a few KL-Penang comparisons I had. For Career... and for Studies. No matter how much my KL-lovers friends tried to convince me I should try "surviving" KL, I just couldn't bring myself to "migrate" over there. To say I am not adventurous or dare not take challenge... is up to people to make judgements. Hehe, I have my own definitions for this... and have my own reasons for the choices I make :-)
would/might say:

KL-freaks

  1. We have everything here, and they are easily accessible.
  2. Entertainment and Food is plenty
  3. People are more colorful, different styles, different ways of representing themselves.
  4. Convenient - highways help you to move easily... but Toll... err...
  5. LRT and public transportation = tip-top
  6. Shopping heaven
  7. To test your durability and sense of survival in the city-jungle. Face the real world.

Penang-freaks
would/might say:
  1. We don't have as much as KL, but we have enough
  2. U still enjoy city-life but it's not as hectic as KL. Entertainment oso got. For food.. fancy restaurants oso got.. hawkers stalls oso got... sedap some more...
  3. People are lil bit more friendly than those in KL
  4. Ok... penang bridge always jam, but at least not toll everywhere we go
  5. Try taking Komuter-LRT on working hours... can die. Try driving in Penang for at least 3 months, you will become best drivers in Malaysia ;-)
  6. We also have many shopping outlets, although KL has wider options, at least the parking tickets won't kill us after shopping... waggagagagaaa....
  7. anywhere oso can learn the survival skills... and anywhere oso real world maa ;-P

They sure don't apply to everyone, people have different reasons to settle down in different places. Haha, but when ever I tangled in KL vs Penang debate... I can be sooo one-sided and biased... hikhikhik.....wooopsie...

I do get remarks like "you are sooo penang" or "dat's so penangite". Do we have some kind of trademark, hmmm... I wonder. I donno what that is, but one thing i realise... most penangites a bit cincai one... kihkihkih... and we do say/hear the word cincai a lot.

Ok... actually
I just came back from a short trip in KL... (meeting friends). After not taking the bus for quite some time... this is what i discovered or re-discovered:
  1. Some people at the bus platform (i.e. bus drivers) making side incomes by trafficking goods. I don't think I would complain if they don't end up making the passengers wait for 45 minutes at the platform while they possibly make a trip to pick up some goods (informing us pergi isi minyak but had to wait macam they went to gali minyak definitely made us make speculations) + there were small pick-up trucks collecting goods from the bus + at the platform where some goods (fresh food) were left unattended earlier.
  2. Ok... now they stop in weird places other than Pudu... grrr.. this is personal bash.. cos i missed the LRT.
  3. The baby cockroaches always make final appearances. it kills me everytime these roaches make their "Boo" at the end of the bus ride, knowing that u have slept with bebeh-roaches, wow... but takpa laa.. kalau tau awal-awal, lagi tak leh duduk.
  4. The ticket from Penang to KL is rm35? warkhhhhhhh.... mahal nyer!
  5. I complain a lot (though not out loud...) :P~
