AK-47 Militia Build - Clothing WIP

 For the basics of the clothing I've used nothing but my sets of AK markers. trying what I can and cannot do with them. I've mostly used the historical markers this time. They work fine but I'm not sure how long the tips will last.

Tried using at least 1 bright colour per stand, when possible. Also did a few (very fake) camo's to see what works with the markers....but that got messy real quick, so if I wanted to do that I'll use the brush. 

While fun to do, I'll only do this for bigger items. The ammo crate works just fine, the camo pants does not so that might be a redo. This is the guncrew btw. 

AK-47 Militia Build - Skin

 I'll be honest. As much as I enjoy painting scenery, I really don't like painting figures 99 out of 100 times. Yes, boo, hiss, eat me.

But these guys aren't going to paint themselves, so.....

1 coat of Army Painter Speedpaint Hardend Leather for all of the skin. It will do. Once everything is done, a coat of matte should tone the shiny, sweaty, muscular.......<ahem> The models should be nice and flat then. 

AK-47 Militia Build - The Basics

 Time to get my thumb out as the deadline is Jan 17th. 

 

 All the infantry bases are ready for primer, the vehicles still need some work and/or a base. 

12 bases of regular Militia = 84 pts

2 bases of RPG Militia = 28 pts

1 base of HMG Militia = 14 pts

1 base of Mortar Militia = 20 pts

1 Militia Towed Gun with Tow = 30 pts

3 Militia Tanks = 180 pts

2 Militia Trucks with AA = 60 pts

All bases are magetised.

Bacon Buddies

 Pig pen for Nam and AK-47 (though pork in a Islamic country.....yeah, let's ignore that bit)

15mm pigs from Peter Pig, scrap MDF base, some matches, ribbed card and plastic H0 Faller fencing, cut down a bit to fit in better with 15mm. My first time trying out wet mud and earth paste from AK that I picked up for The Last War. Works like a treat I say. Not much else to say, need to make a few more village items, but maybe better to focus on a few figgies now.

Gunbird invades Peleliu - Bookkeeping finished

 After using my free time to crunch some numbers, I think i have it all noted down.

Japanese Scenario 1: 

• Infantry - more than enough, plenty of spares from the Army Box alone. The LMG's will come from Peter Pig (in stock) but I am lacking 2 so added a pack to my order.
  
• AT-Guns - enough in the box for the scenario, loader teams will come from Peter Pig (in stock)
• HMG - same
• Sniper and Spotter - Peter Pig (in stock)
• Off table 81mm - I can pre order this blister that has 4 teams of 81mm and a Observer team (always useful in Battlegroup). available from July 5th so I will wait.
• Grenade L. battery - Enough in the Army Box and I have spares from Peter Pig

Japanese Scenario 2:

•  Infantry - still enough left overs in the Army box, and a few from Peter Pig so ok
•  Rifle and Mortar spider holes - enough spares to cut a few apart, no worries
• Snipers - more in the Peter Pig pack
•  Timed Mortar Barrage - use the models as counters
• HMG - sorted
• Type 90 75mm gun - 2 of these in the Army box so sorted. 

 So besides chasing down a blister of 81mm mortars I'm ok for the Japanese.

USMC Scenario 1:

• BAR - I have 9, I need 18. Noted this for a order with Peter Pig
• Infantry -  I need about 60, there are 25 normal joes in the army box, the rest is NCO etc. I need to go over my Peter Pig USMC stash again for this, but I am coming up short.
•  Forward HQ - sorted
•  60mm mortar teams - I need 3, I have 2. So added to the order for Peter Pig
•  30.cal teams - 2 in the box, just what I need and i have spares from Peter Pig
•  LVT-2 - will be 3D printed
• Bazookas - Box has 2, I need 6 - Added to Peter Pig order 
• Demo man - just sculpt the charge bags on the models. 

USMC Scenario 2:

• If I have painted all the infantry for Scenario 1, I just need to add 3 BAR's and 9 more men, so added those to the PP order
• Forward HQ - sorted
• 30.cal teams - sorted
• Captured Type 92 - already working on it
• 2 Corpsmen - I'll use spare loaders suitably painted.
• Captured Pillbox - I'll reuse 2 from the previous scenario and modify another to be more American
• Barbed wire - I'll knock those out in an hour, easily sorted
• LVT-2 - I'll use the one from the previous scenario 

 

Now....let's get it on :)

 Robert Poulton "Small Shanty Town"

This is a small shanty town in the country of Democratic Republic of Kananga led by General Omar Gutsakillinme. as most people will know that just becuase the word Democratic is in the title means nothing at all as the General is an out and out Dictator. He rules the country with a fist of iron only redeeming feature as far as the west are concerned is that he he is stuanchly Anti-Communist and so his army is supplied mostly by western countries obviously the brown envelopes filled with cash help as well. The Army are well supplied and well trained with some of the best units being Mercenaries.

All my factions are based in a country I call Zamibia. Madam Mimi's Parlour is the hangout of one of the factions, the Zamibian Independence Party.

The parlour stemmed from a couple of billboards I'd designed a couple of years back. It's a bar, casino and general hangout. Model is a 3D print and lights can be placed inside.

Johan van Ooij "Red Herring Fish Factory"

Situated in in the coastal city of Aladinea, Republic of Wadiya, the factory supplies the beautiful people of Wadiya with work for 20 men and a few children. Most of the cans are exported to the Sovjet Union, where they are used to stock up air raid shelters with delicious and nutritious seafood. It is not exported to Western countries due to biased claims and market protection schemes. Listeria never killed anyone in Wadiya, so it is 110% safe. Very Aladeen.

The original factory was started in the early 1900's by the French in their colonial days. This factory later burned down.

In WW1 a new cannery was erected to supply the French army during the war. The building was finished in 1919 and subsequently burned down in the riots during the coup d'etat of 1927.

A new factory was built shortly before WW2 and this supplied canned fish to the Axis powers. This was then bombed by the British Royal Air Force in 1944 and burned down.

In what can only be described as sheer tenacity, another factory was built a few years after the war and as mentioned, supplied canned fish to the Sovjet Union.

Shortly after taking these pictures, a unfortunate incident happend and the factory burned down. Again. The resulting explosion of fish pulp and oil flung the massive Red Herring sign across the bay and right onto the yacht of the Admiral of the Wadiyan Navy, Abdel Ranka, killing him and seven of his mistresses.

Admiral Abdel Ranka was posthumously declared a Hero of Wadiya and mentioned in the Guiness Book of Records as the man who caught the biggest herring on record. Again, very Aladeen.

A complete scratchbuild, a core of foam coated in card, with some scrap lasercut card from other projects, lead wire, some magnets, and a 3D printed VW Beetle. A nice mix of old and new techniques (to me). Some things worked, others not so much. The signs are magnetised (else it would not fit in the storage box, plus that gives extra space to mount a AA gun or a glorious flag) and I've already started work on additonal pieces so I can use it for other games as well.

Jimmy James  "Uncle Albert's Scrapyard"

In the Republic of Zumo, “Uncle Albert” is the avuncular public face of scrap baron Albert Musonda, a hard nosed businessman who’s made an absolute brick from hustling all sorts of commodities in his time though most recently profiting from being…directly awarded…a contract by President Bernard Dairey to dispose of military scrap and unwanted equipment. It has been rumoured that some of this is not scrapped and recycled at all, but instead sold to local militias who then make use of it in their ramshackle armies. However attempts to investigate have been quashed by the President’s Office, and it has now come to the attention of African Union peacekeepers who regularly descend on the yard to raid and find evidence of untoward activity. None has yet been found.

The main shed was built from a Wills model railway kit (which went together really nicely and I highly recommend), the sign from some plastic letters (the sort you used to see used with a pegboard to lay out the menu at chippies) and coffee stirrers. The scrap car is a cheapo special, 20p from a charity shop - and the corrugated/concrete walls and most of the scrap chod within are from a KORE resin barricade set (again, lovely to work with). I put odds and sods of other rubbish in too to clutter up.
