Sarissa Ruined Village - adding Chimney pots

I found a H0 scaled file for various Chimney pots, enlarged them by 155% and printed them off.

I think they work fine!

I'm still waiting for my Sarissa delivery which PostNL insisted would be here last wednesday....thursday....friday....saturday. And they now plan on delivering tomorrow. Uhuh. Famous last words?

It's only 4 buildings and only 2 are ruins. I plan to build one a day, 2 of them are 3 stories tall so they involve a wee bit more time. I'd love to have the lot done by sunday evening though. I'll try to do a testfit then to see how they all line up.

Sarissa Precision N010 Destroyed Small House (modified)

Finished building and modifying a N010. I sawed out the corner and extended the roof remains on the other side. Also some other detail changes but more about that some other day.

Also took a pic of our local church when picking up the kids at Nonna's place. Should be nice to replicate for the roof.

I had a Sarissa Precision Weekend

I've been a bit busy this weekend.

That is the Destroyed Town Scenery set done bar 1 Bombed Out Terrace House. That will be done this week, and maybe the other 2 I found in my stash (oops). For this lot I need to do the detailing, and the finishing toutches like tiles on the roof of the corner house, magnets for the shop (and I could use another 1 or 2 shops if I am honest). Fun little project this. All of the to be built extras will theme the board. Posterwalls for the Netherlands, UK, Germany etc. Old cars or Modern cars. Telephone poles or modern street lights etc. You get the idea.

All of the kits are easy to build and I even got the roofs now down to a quick process.

Sarissa Precision - N022 Destroyed Single Storey House - WIP

Received a coupon for 20% off from Sarissa this week, put a few items in the Shopping Cart and then went in the attic to see what I had in my stash. One of the items in my carst was this, N022 Destroyed Single Storey house. So....I removed that and started the build.

The house part was easy to build, nothing shocking there. The doors feel a bit weird as they are different from what I'm used to, so I opened one. They both still need a doorknob, I just rememberd, so I need to remidy that and just added it to my todo list.

The roof.....wasn't fun to build. The intact side isn't an issue, that had plenty of grip, the other 2 gave me a lot more issue. But eventually that was sorted and the roof set cleanly. Then I had to remove the nubs of the ground floor wall cause those interfered with the position of the roof. Something simple and quick to do. I cut a ton of 6 rib wide card sections of 3cm long and used those to cover the roof. For this one I'm going for pressed fibre plates. Added plenty of damage.

The card is now coated in superglue, both outside and inside so it has a lot more strength.

It's not the perfect house for Russian compared to the others, but you can do a lot with paint :) . This is the third house and I am aiming to make a total of 6 houses with ancillary buildings so I can mix and match for the village feel.

Sarissa Precision P040 City Hall - MDF build completed

The kit is now completely built. I added scraps of MDF as windowsills, and replaced the MDF columns with dowel. Those will be glued in place once painted. In this case I'm thinking about glazing with a full sheet of transparancy and glueing the top on and just call it a day. With no floors inside there isn't a real need for it? We will see once I paint it up, for now it is in the  (rather long) cue.

I'm not going to weather this to hell. I can see this being used anywhere from 1700 till the earth has gone to shit, as a city hall, bank, library, investment banker HQ (wait, in that case it needs to be burned down) or a nice extra home for a 28m Aladeen (when, if, ever). But formost it is going into my Post Apoc collection.

Sarissa Precision IM03 Marshport Refinery WIP - 90% done

I spotted this kit in a battlereport a while back (I think) and I liked the look.

Kit currently retails for 34 euros but I picked it up in the Black Friday sale, so 10% off.

Assembly was pretty easy, nice big flat parts. But I did notice a few things.

  • One of the short sides of the top part of the building comes with no laseretching at all. I have no idea if this is intentional as the shops paintjobs make that impossible to check.
  • You can't lift off the big roof as is without having to remove the other top section (unless you snip off a section that I will show later, then you have no issues)
  • The very spindly top part of the roof that is meant for the original lettering. That won't survive past the first game (so I took most of it off)
  • The shute that ends up above the railtrack is just a open box with an opening
  • The top part glues down on top of the roof of the first floor, but that leaves space between the 2 openings.

I do not need the rail system as I have my own, so I removed that part.

I've added 2 magnetised 30x30 bases to the top floor roof (ignore the loose bit beside it) and cut down the sign on the big roof down by half, and added scrap MDF inside and on the side to make it a lot stiffer

Added trim to the roof of the chute, with the forementioned blank side panel next to it.

Added extra strengthening underneath the covering and added card on top to make rusted tinned sheet

I noticed some flexing on the inner wall so strengthend with more scrap MDF

I will not be using their vents so need to fill in the 4 lower holes, and already used some scrap and a swizzle stick part to make a plank to store some painted stuff once the kit is 90% done

And as always....

A new tinned roof.

I need to magnetise the sign and then cover it. It will get a Zona Alfa suitable marking, which can be covered with a magnetised sign of my choosing afterwards.  For the top part of the building I will make 2 swappable signs with magnets in the base. This is the way.

Edit:

As mentioned, I did not like the connection of the top part to the roof section so added scrap MDF to close the opening on the sides so there would be no gap.

After glueing everything the top part turned out to be 1-2 mm out of alignment with the ground floor. I glued a bit of scrap MDF behind the nub opening and now it sits perfectly

4th December 2025 Hobby Night

A simple evening today. Not a lot of stamina but had some good chats.

I grabbed a new round MDF base for the cannon, magnetised it, glued the gun and assembled a Warlords of Erewhon skeleton with a helmet from the Wargames Atlantic German Infantry 1914-1918. I'll paint these first and then add wet mud hence the no basing. I am looking for something to put on the other side of the gun though. This is just a bit of scatter for The Last War. Eventually.

And added the steps to the City Hall. Going over the kit, I do wish they had made the top of the colums connect to a seperate piece to be glued to the building, instead of inserting in the lift off roof. Then again, as it has no floors, why bother? Tomorrow work on the columns by replacing them with dowels.

Sarissa Precision P041 Drive In Entrance WIP

My Black Friday purchase arrived today, so instead of chucking them in the later box. I decided to build all of them this week. Good thing I only bought 4 kits....so starting off with the Drive In Entrance.

This is what it is supposed to look like >>

But you know I have a very hard time keeping anything original, so....

I trimmed off the nubs for the big and long sign, reused just the Drive In section and glued that to roof. Reinforced that with some spare MDF strips on the base and behind the letters cause you know those will break asap. Added 2 supports as well. I snapped the part above the front door cause I was talking to the girls and not paying attention (so that is all on me) but that too was easily fixed with some spare strip of MDF. Then I snipped off the 4 nubs it had for the original sign, and added rim all around the edge (even if only to mitigate warping once painted) and now it is sorted.

Tomorrow I'll try and work out if it is worth the effort to use some soldering wire to weave around to make it more of a Neon sign.....but we will see if that will be worth the effort.

Otherwise, nice kit. No fitting issues that I noticed, will look grand once painted up.

And the whole reason I bought it in the first place....I already have the movie screen I made in the week(s?) after I got ran over 10 years ago, and it will be nice to close that.

Sarissa's Black Friday Sale 2025

Well, considering I have a couple of kilo's in the attic (MDF, not the powdery stuff) I really should not order anything, buuut....

I only picked up 4 kits this time.

28mm City Hall is a new release. This is for my 28mm Post Apoc collection. I already picked up some wooden dowels to replace the columns with.

Also a new release is the 28mm Drive In. This will go fine with the screen I made shortly after getting run over in 2015. I think it is time for it. Might change the name though.

I spotted the 28mm Marshport Refinery in a battle report a while back and I had it on my list for Stalker, so in the order it came. Will get a new roof and the top frame will be removed.

And the German Airfield Control Tower. Worn down, it will work perfectly for the Russian base in my Stalker collection. Will most likely have to severely harden the handrails as they look like card to me and I want them to last.

And that is it for this year. I don't expect to receive any of this before Christmas, the Post is pretty swamped as is. And I have plenty of other stuff to build before these....

Sarissa Precision N610 Extra Weatherd and Damp....finished

That was fun. These little ones build and paint up so fast compared to my 28mm stuff, but I really should get cracking on finishing one of those soon. Maybe next week.

Anyway, same kit, different kind of weathering. In this case pretty damp and not cared for for a very long time.

And a quick comparison to the previous one.

Sarissa Precision N605 - Small 2 Storey House - WIP

Assembly is simple and quick. The shutters on these are rounded at the top which is nice. The footprint is the same as the ruins, and the roof and first floor lift off quite nicely. Think I'll got for a weather yellow wall and green shutters this time. Also need to cut a add on roof out of foam so it fits Vietnam better, and then tile that.

Same footprint as the ruins, with a little concrete pad for the front door.

Just realised this would work as a burnt out shell as well, if you leave out all of the card bits. Hmmm...

Maybe add some planters in front of the open windows?

Plenty of ideas, but for now, it can dry so I can coat all the card tomorrow.

Another N610 - But now a lot more weathered WIP

A lovely (albeit solitary) hobby evening, and all of the weathering is done on the new (well, is it really new.....) house ruin. Let it all dry and tomorrow evening it's time for the leaves, debris and other plantlife.

15mm can paint up really quick if you stop (over)thinking about it.

Sarissa Precision N610 and N613 WIP

Another N610 ready for paint, but this one will be painted as something that has been destroyed years ago. We will see if I can get that done tomorrow evening.

Also assembled N613 Single Storey Souk. This can dry tonight, tomorrow magnetise the front so I can add signs so it fits Afrika, Vietnam and any Arab speaking country. Just swap signs when needed. I'll leave the roof bare so I can add water tanks or little gardens on top, again when needed.
