I have many plans in my head for the upcoming year. Jan 1st starting off the year geocaching and Dianne came with me! There were a lot of shadows on this sunny day!  The first objective of 2016 was getting home safely.  It's a long drive by myself from Ohio.  I go out of my way a bit to drive to Shelly's in North Caroline from Ohio and stay a day or so before continuing on.  So it is two days of eight plus hours depending on how often I stop.  I made it home a few days ago and now must unpack and regroup.  I do like a good road trip! This time I did some geocaching along the way home.  Overall I found eight caches in different rest areas and near gas stations.  I don't go out of my way to drive to get to any, but if one is within five hundred feet, I will take time to find it, sign the log and take a picture.  It's a great way to get a little exercise while on a road trip.  When you find storea brightly painted and brightly landscaped, you must go in.   When you see an open house on a Teardrop trailer along the road....  You must peek in!   When you see a sunset at the end of the day you must stop and enjoy it.    Sharing at Monday Mellow Yellows

Taking a pet along on a road trip can be harrowing for some, but our dog Gracie loves to go! We stop every hour and a half to two hours and she leaps out of the car and begins sniffing everywhere!   She loves being with us, so lying in the back seat on her pink bed she rolls and stretches.  At home she is not allowed on the furniture, so this is a real treat.  We take turns walking her while the other attends to business elsewhere. It's a long road to Ohio and back from Florida We are totally familiar with every rest area  She sometimes seems a little bored, traveling.    Well, maybe a lot bored after a dozen hours But she is one happy puppy when we arrive at the end of our road trip. But then...... What???  We have to drive back? It's OK Gracie!  Remember, there are dog treats at every drive thru window and "home" with all your toys at the end of the road! ...

I'm reading Le Road Trip and savoring every word.  It's what I love to do.  I'm all about road trips!  Mine have never seemed important before because I often just do ordinary things, stop at someplace cute, watch people and notice interesting architectural details from where I sit on a bench or stone wall or from a car window.  Hey, that's what she does! While in Tampa yesterday, I was having an enforced longer than usual wait and reading my book.  I suddenly thought.  Yes, France is wonderful, but right now, right here, I'm in Tampa.  Lots of people would like to be in Tampa, Florida, USA.  Save the book for nighttime reading and open your eyes! I looked around at very ordinary busy street.
