One of the military blogs I follow turned me on to this cache of ultra-cool tank wallpapers put out by the Russian arms firm "UralVagonZauod". The paintings are amazing, and would look at home in any near-future Sci-Fi game. Head over to the site and you can choose from any desktop or iPhone resolution you like. These are the lowest-res versions they have available.

There's A New Tank MMO In Town

It's called 'Armored Warfare', and it concentrates on modern armor. Including MBTs, IFVs, etc. Looks as though it plays like World of Tanks, which is a good thing. :)

Addiction In Games

Various sites are reporting today that Dong Nguyen, the creator of the iOS/Android game "Flappy Bird" has decided to pull his game from both app stores. Reportedly because he felt that the game was "Too Addictive". Not having heard about the game before seeing this news, I did some quick Googling. Which took me to some interesting IGN reviews that question whether this addictive game is actually any good or not. Which got me thinking about addiction in games generally.

Twas A Defeat... But What A Defeat!

I love my DMax! Only other 8-kill game I had was a last-round-of-ammo victory with my Marder II. Would have been 9 kills this game if I hadn't shot wide at that KV before a Hellcat snuck up on my flank. Oh well... I still made bank. :)

My Clan Has Herpes... And Other Players Too

After posting my story about the awesomeness of my upgraded E-75, I got invited to join a World of Tanks clan. The 'Oddballs'. That sounded appropriate enough. Having never played in a competitive clan environment before, the experience was a bit of an eye opener.

I finally got my E-75 upgraded to the 128mm gun tonight in World Of Tanks. Last game I killed 6 tanks, wounded 5 more, and took home 80K in silver! Life is sweet when anything less than a Maus runs away from you. :)

World of Tanks: Is Windows Slowing You Down?

World of Tanks is especially slow/congested today, at least for me. My ping, which normally hovers at a steady not-great-but-ok 92 on AT&T's U-Verse was up around 129. Making everything stutter about and delaying my shot reactions more than usual. So I decided to see what I could do about speeding it up. Turns out, I was able to get it down to a smooth 65 ms with a simple tweak. Here's how:

I Really Marder-ed Them Tonight

Just got 8 kills with my Marder II in World of Tanks! My previous record was 7.

Got my Panther yesterday, but I haven't mastered it yet. Still working on getting the upgraded turret that unlocks the best guns.

Der Tiger Ist Mein!!!

Finally, a tank I can go right down the middle of the map with in World of Tanks! Well... sometimes. When there's not a Maus and 3 Lowes above me in the fight. Farmpunk and I did a battle tonight where my Tiger and his T-29 were the scouts at the bottom of the list. Ouch!

I've finally been assimilated into the digital crack that is World of Tanks. Currently I'm slogging my way up the German tech tree and cursing those Americans for their superior light armor designs.
