When I photographed the second Chaos Marine, I had not noticed that I had forgotten to finish the base.
Rather a small squad

Shadow War - Armageddon: The Fallen - Chaos Marines
A long time ago in a blog post far, far away...
Okay, not Star Wars.
A Chaos Space Marine leader, part of the Fallen for Shadow War: Armageddon.
Armed with a sword and a bolt pistol, backed up with grenades, he is ready to lead the fight against their enemies.
The Fallen's leader squares off against a loyalist Cadian trooper.

Shadow War - Armageddon: The Fallen - Chaos Marines
This Kill Team was mainly built from the contents of a 2005 Chaos Space Marine box set.
As you can see, the box was bought very cheap.
The Kill Team - The Fallen comprises one Aspiring Champion (with bolt pistol and assault blade) and four marines with bolt guns.
I still need to check the numbers and who can get grenades.

Shadow War - Archeology part one
One of the joys of Shadow War - Armageddon is the ability to use all those odd boxes of figures that you bought but never got round to doing anything with.
So I had a look through the boxes in various locations (and reunited the Tau Pathfinder instructions with the kit) and found these.
Though not actually a Kill Team choice in SWA, the renamed Stormtroopers have various uses for Imperial Guard or Inquisitor kill teams.
I knew I had a box of Pathfinders somewhere, and a couple of weeks ago I did find the instructions, and now they are reunited with the kit.
I bought a number of boxes of the 2005 Chaos Marines cheap at Salute one year (what year I do not know). It is the original multi-part figures (two lots of four Chaos Wombles with a Chaos mutation sprue and a Chaos Marine sprue with a Heavy Bolter and Officer bits). They were originally bought to supply bits for Forge World Chaos Marine conversion packs.
Dark Space Pixies (or in this case Maniac Nightmare Pixie Girls - and boys).
And finally a box of Skitarii (I have an Enginseer as well).
Started with the Chaos Wombles. The plan is a stripped down squad of five, very basic weapons.

Alpha Legion Sniper
So continuing with the Alpha Legion theme, they are experts at intervention and underhanded tactics.
Sometimes direct pinpoint action is required, so there is a need for snipers.
Now there is no "sniper" option on any army list that covers Alpha Legion, however there is no kill better than overkill, so I chose the longest range weapon available on my lists - the Las Cannon.
Again I used the normal Space Marine kits - this time the heavy weapons one and the kneeling legs.
Now for "Line" marines I have used a combination of Chaos and normal marine parts avoiding anything too chaotic. Now the sniper is going to be an Elite choice so I used just normal marine parts.
The kneeling pose suits the sniper concept.
The only problem is the power cable between the cannon and the backpack, as you can see here it would pass through the knee, so this figure is awaiting my attempting to connect the two.

Alpha Legion Terminator work in progress
More figures from the work in progress box, in this case Alpha Legion.
My take of the Alpha Legion is that they attempt to look like normal Marines rather than the spikes and tentacles of the other traitor legions. Their subversive activities mean they need to pass as normal marines.
This is exemplified by this Terminator.
With the exception of the weaponry and the head it looks like a regular terminator suit (except that it lacks a Crux Terminatus). Armed with the old style Reaper auto cannon shorn of any overt chaos symbols it would appear to be a loyalist suit.
Built from a Terminator body with the head opening widened to take a Marine mark 7 helmet. The reaper is from the Chaos Marine Terminator kit, the power glove is a marine one as are the two shoulder pads. The Crux Terminatus was shaved off leaving the skull.
The body was sprayed with Citadel Incubi Darkness and I have started to paint the black base coats on the weapons, cables etc.

We are marines from the Hydra Legion, now where is your central defence hub?Their equipment is going to be a mixture of old and new, picked up as they go along.

Chaos Reigns (at least on the workbench...)
While I was shuffling round the contents of the figure boxes I came across a few Chaos Marines that are still work in progress.
Iron Warrior terminator
Iron Warrior Terminator Lord
A Nurgle Terminator Champion (based on a Womblehammer Nurgle character).
I might get round to finishing them sometime.

Chaos Renegade Hellhound
A Games Workshop Imperial Guard Hellhound Chaos Renegade conversion.
The commander is a Forge World Chaos Renegade trooper torso, and uses the arms from the Cadian heavy weapons set.
A jerry can was added to the rear hatch.

A smoke discharger was made from half of the Chaos Rhino smoke discharger, and wired into the turret.
The Imperial icons needed to be removed from the hull hatches. Replacement rivets were added from plastic rod.

It is only a sniffle...
Having fought with the finishing of a Crooked Dice Heavy Machine Gun support team (my problem, not the figures'), I thought that finishing off one of the Demons of Nurgle would be a simple victory of sorts.
So here is the first of Legion.
The figures are multi part plastic kits with minimum flash and moulding marks.
So after a spray undercoat of GW Chaos black, I used GW Nurgling Green for the body. The gory bits were then filled in with GW Mechrite Red. The sword was cleaned up with Vallejo Black.
The whole thing (gory bits and all) were then washed with GW Drakenhof Nightshade. This provided a grubby shading for the whole figure and dark shading for the gory bits.
The large blister/internal organ area on the stomach was then lightened with Army Painter Skeleton bone. All the gory bits were then washed with GW Baal Red. Vallejo Dark sand was then used to highlight the icky blisters. The horn started out with Vallejo Leateher brown lightened with Vallejo Dark Sand (which looks the same as the Army Painter Bone) with a final highlight of Vallejo Buff.
Dark sand and Buff were used for the claws. The eye was filled out with Buff, and when dry Vallejo Red. a White highlight was added at the bottom of the eye.
The sword was dry brushed with Vallejo Black Grey.
This colour scheme looks okay to me, and should not be a problem to finish the rest of the squad, plus the herald.
