A half-beast, half-machine Composite Digimon with both bestial and mechanical traits. Digimon with mechanized bodies are not uncommon, but in Maquinamon's case, it has a rare form where its body is evenly split into machine and beast halves.
Although it possesses two traits, it lacks emotional expression due to each of them being completely unbalanced and unstable, and rarely shows hostility towards opposing Digimon. Its combat strength is low as well, and so it is vulnerable in the Digital World where the weak are food for the strong.
While it lacks emotion, it is faithful to its instincts, and its appetite, if anything, is simply huge. It is thought that this is due to its unstable nature, making it very energy inefficient. The only thing it excels at is skillfully finding food, using its two excellent senses—its animal sense of smell and the sight of its Machine Eye—and constantly roaming around in search of food. Since it is capable of changing its physiology by taking in data from its surroundings, it is also omnivorous regardless of its habitat. Its Special Move is "Twin Bubble", in which it spits out bubbles with the attributes of electricity and fire in two rapid bursts; however, the power of these bubbles is not much different from those spewed by Baby Digimon, and can only be used in battle as a distraction.

Digimon Liberator[edit]

Maquinamon is Unchain's Partner Digimon. The original specimen is actually a Metatromon who was one of the Gods of Cross Connectia. Unchain also converted countless Digimon into copies of this Maquinamon through his own Alter Ride as part of their plan to create an artificial race of resilient Digimon who are immune to the miasma that destroyed Metatromon's side of Cross Connectia and is threatening to destroy Lacuna.

Unchain first sent the Maquinamon into being hunted by the Debug Team to gauge the Digimon's abilities to live and prosper in LACUNA. They are later used to hijack NPCs to fight players and potentially hijack players themselves during Unchain's final plan.

As part of Unchain's plan to evolve Lacuna into the Digital World, they rewrite all Partner Digimon of Lacuna into Maquinamon (save for the protected ones owned by the Debug Team) in "BE THE BELIEVERS (Part 2)". This is shown happening to a Gabumon and a Vorvomon. All of the Digimon were reverted back to normal following Unchain's defeat in "To the New World (Part 2)".

Additional Information[edit]

References Notes
  1. Unchain's original partner had BEMmon's data pasted onto it, turning it into Maquinamon. The novel didn't specify the original form, with EX11-006 clarifying it was Flickmon (Tool).
  2. Close mentioned that Unchain used to overwrite Digimon they encountered in E.G.G. into Maquinamon in "Prelude to Destruction (Part 2)". Nearly all Partner Digimon in LACUNA save for those from the Debug Team's are visibly reformatted into Maquinamon as a part of their plan in "BE THE BELIEVERS (Part 2)". Gabumon and Vorvomon are shown in the chapter itself. After Unchain's plans are stopped, the rewritten Digimon are shown returning to normal in "To the New World (Part 2)", including Agumon (2006 Anime Version), Terriermon Assistant, Renamon, Herissmon, Pillomon, Otamamon, Toy Agumon, and Koemon.
