Okay, so I'm actually kind of embarrassed that I gave this book four stars.

Please don't lose respect for me! Hear me out! Trust me!

I just seems antithetical. I mean, the name of the book is "Pleasure Unbound" and when my husband asked what I was reading, I blushed as I revealed the book's name. Then there's the cover that is, really, the epitome of cheap, softcore porn PNR.

And the plot just seems too ridiculous! He's an incubus demon, she's a demon hunter who can't come when she's with a man... it's like someone gave this plot device to Ione as a joke to MAKE her fail as an author. A mean joke or some kind of wacky test. Clearly the Mad Hatter has taken up work as a publisher!

But here's the deal. Despite the seemingly cheesy concept, bad cover work and HORRIBLE name, Ione has written something remarkably readable.

Allow me to demonstrate.

The characters are actually interesting. In some respects they do represent the mainstays of the genre. He's a fuckhawt doctor and she's a kickarse Buffy clone. She does ridiculously stupid things in the name of her prejudice toward demons and out of fear of her lust for him, and he gets angry at her but funnels that into sex because her cooch is like crack.

Right. We've all been there and done that in other stories.

But for once, I can actually believe that this man would be a doctor. He actually behaves like one which is refreshing. You know what else is refreshing? The female protagonist is believably and understandably stupid as opposed to just being an idiot. More than that - she thinks and learns from past mistakes.

They both deal with her emotional trauma together in a fairly touching way. I really enjoyed the trust and respect growing between these two characters.

What else is there, you ask? Well, there's a reasonable plot, for starters. It was interesting, immersive and this book was completely fun and sexy to read. You will not find any "manroots" or "blossoming lady gardens" in this book. I think he "sheaths" himself once or twice but, honestly, it's a romance novel - if someone doesn't sheath something at least once then I'm actually going to be disappointed. Other than that, the language is very modern and the "lemon" scenes are very....niiiiiiiice...

I give Ione props for reasonable writing that flows solidly.

Lastly, the male protagonist is quite the wet dream: a handsome, rich doctor who is a little anally retentive but otherwise dedicated and responsible. And he has what every sexy, rich, charming man should have:

Sexy, rich, charming brothers.

Which means I'm going to head off and read the next three books!

Hey, I just met you
And this is crazy...
But I'm gonna f*ck you senseless
And tell you all my secrets

 photo 895.png

I am so disappointed with this book, I have no words.

Wait, actually I do!

Let me tell you what happens in the first 5% of the book:

*a bit spoilerish*

The main guy is a demon who works at a demon hospital. The main woman is a slayer who is killing demons like crazy and is their arch nemesis and of course it goes the other way around as well.

So this wounded woman ends up in the demon hospital and the main demon dude treats her. The next day, the demon's demon brother goes into her brain and makes her have sex dreams and hallucinations. The main dude of course can't help himself cause he's a sex demon and proceeds to f*ck the patient while she is still wounded and having hallucinations and she has absolutely no idea who he is.

 photo 25918.gif photo 25918.gif photo 25918.gif photo 25918.gif photo 25918.gif

I am thinking, what the f*ck kind of main character is that?? One who goes on and on about his doctor's oath about helping and treating people no matter how they are, but he is OK with f*cking a woman who has been mentally roofied? Way to go, jackass!

 photo 1441.gif

So, the first sex happened at 7%, if you can call it sex, there's a proper name for what happened but oh well, and after it, they are still enemies and she still wants to kill him, so of course the most intelligent thing to do for him is to tell her all about him, what his powers were, what his powers currently are, what his tattoos mean that he was born with, and so on, and so on. That is the second conversation between them, if you count the "sex" as a first conversation.

 photo 1231.jpg

I don't know, maybe I am too used to reading about main characters who don't suck, or have a brain larger than a peanut, but this simply did not work for me at all.

Not the idiotic romance between them, not even the writing, so the story was uninteresting to me as well.

My advice - if you are looking for a good paranormal book with good world-building with intelligent characters - DON'T PICK THIS!

 photo i.gif

If you are only looking for smut, and don't care if your characters are stupid as sh*t, this will work perfectly fine.

DNF at 9% - Because life is too short to read infuriating crap.

Friendly message to my dear, ever-stalking PNR review trolls:
✔ YES I DNFed this at 9%
✔ YES I had the audacity to rate it anyway.
✔ YES I had the nerve to write a so-called review about it.
✘ NO I have no credibility as a reviewer.
Be offended all you want, I don't give a damn.

Worry not people, for this is not going to be one of my never-ending, rambling reviews. I've wasted enough time on this awe-inspiring masterpiece as it is.

Why did I DNF this so early? Here's why (spoilers ahead, deal with it and stuff):

So this girl called Buffy Tayla is a demon slayer (ooooooh, original!). As the story begins she lays half-dead on a demon hospital bed (because yes, demons have hospitals, too). The doc in charge is (obviously) a super good-looking, HAWT AS HELL demon called Eidolon I love it when MCs have Greek names. Kinda makes me feel like I'm reading Socrates. Or something. Definitely makes me feel much more intelligent and stuff. So dear Buffy Tayla here is all dosed up because of her multiple wounds. In comes one of HAWT AS HELL Eidolon's brothers. What does he do? He gets into Buffy Tayla's little head (because cool demons can do that) and makes her have sex hallucinations. And that's not screwed up at all. Nope. It's not like he's taking advantage of the fact that she's just laying there unconscious or anything. Damn, I love PNR.

I-Have-a-Greek-Name-I'm-So-Bloody-Fishing-Cool-and-HAWT-AS-HELL Eidolon comes in just as dear Buffy Tayla is thrashing in her bed, consumed by demon-manufactured lust. You'd expect Eidolon (who just spent 3 pages blabbering on and on about his doctor's oath , his utter dedication to all patients and his all-encompassing respect for them) to kick his brother's sorry ass out of the room to protect Buffy Tayla, right? Right. To his credit, he does get rid of his two-grey-celled asshole of a brother. Yes he does. And then proceeds with Tayla's treatment. What treatment might that be, you ask? Why fucking his patient senseless, of course. But hey, it's not like it's his fault or anything. He might be a caring/concerned/dedicated doctor but he's also a sex demon. He has urges, you know. He can't fight them, you know. Besides, Buffy Tayla is asking for it, isn't she? And it's not like she's high on meds. Or like she doesn't know where she is and who the hell Eidolon might be. She's hallucinating, half-asleep and thinks she's dreaming but, hey, NO BLOODY SHRIMPING BIGGIE.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I DNFed this piece of crap at 9%.

PS: want to read about demons? Forget about PNR trash. Read SM Reine or Pippa DaCosta. You're welcome.

Tayla's observation : 'his magic penis'

Whoops, excuse me. I did not mean to react so strongly. I meant to reply with, "please... tell me more."

So...this Eidolon guy. He kind of has magic spermies that do magic sperm-y things to a woman. If that's not going to get someone interested, then I don't know what else to say.

This was fluffy, cheesy, good-time PNR and I loved every second of it. I never once rolled my eyes at the flowery sexual terms, nor did I bat an eyelash at the crazy male behavior. If there's one thing I expect from PNR, it's that I already know I'm going to get a yummy, smutty, ridiculously over-the-top story and that's what I crave when I reach for the genre. It's my comfort-food version of reading, where for once I don't have to stop and question every single action I find incredibly unrealistic. I'm pretty sure that creatures with green skin and demons with horns are a dead giveaway that realism is going out the window. Hooray! Let the good times roll!

Speaking of good times...let's go back to the magic sperm. If there's a wait list to be the test subject for this stuff, SIGN ME UP. The chick in this book had serious issues with even getting an O (due to previous trama) and she was still having the time of her life. Talk about some awesome sex, right?

As for the world building....it wasn't bad. I had a few moments of confusion when it seemed like a lot of races and descriptions were dumped on me all at once, but after a few chapters, it all started coming together. I can honestly say that I would prefer not to read about demons (unless it's a Georgina Kincaid type of succubi), so it was never my intention to read this book until a group picked it for their read. Even though I'm still not comfortable with demons (the concept makes me feel kind of icky), I enjoyed the read enough that I might continue on with the series because I want to know more about the other characters.

Three cheers for snark! This author has a great sense of humor :

"I'm taking you home."
"In a car?"
"Only because my flaming chariot is at the shop."

"And eew. Dude, she's a Buffy. I'd sooner shove my dick into a month-dead corpse."
"You probably have," Wraith snorted.

"You eat fast food?"
"Only when there's a shortage of live sheep and small children."

"UGH? Your hospital is called ugh?"

She wondered if his apparently keen sense of smell would pick up the odor of her failing deodorant.

Hot guy + sense of humor + smokin' hot sex + interesting world = recipe for success. If you can ignore the obvious cheese which automatically goes hand-in-hand with the whole smutty pnr vibe, you'll have a fun time.

That glossary at beginning was helpful, but it still left out a lot of words

A warning, I'm gaytarded, and this review will reflect said gayness.

He doesn't need to touch her black panties to know they soaked. He can smell it. From across the room. In her defense she has been wearing the same panties for at least two days. So it's understandable they'd smell, but still my fragile gay boy eyes didn't need to read that

Sex at 7% :( I prefer more build up before sex. And her "slippery juices" *shudder* shouldn't she be dehydrated with the quantity of fluids leaking out of her cooter?

"You're so wet... You smell raw, ready." like raw eggs or some uncooked steak? There is no way for me to pictures these smells as erotic. I hate smells though the gross me out. And honestly the raw vagina probably smells better than the sweaty anus

I had to use the kindle dictionary to look up "labia" and that makes me wish kindle had a "gay language" so it could have said "oh girl, you don't even want to know!" Because yeah, I didn't want to know

"Is the touchy-feely homo moment over?"

I object to this slanderous filth. If anything they were being total chicks. Gays would never be so disgraceful. ;)

I like that the author makes us feel sympathy for the poor demons being hunted by the ignorant and evil humans

69%

I loved this book the plot was great, very engaging. reading it made me go:

a few times. some parts were just laugh out loud funny.

even though the sex made me go

and

I still really liked the book

I am too lazy to write anymore words but i'll post some more stuff i find funny. I figure over a 1,000 reviews on here everything's probably already been said anyway.

5 "I don't know how many times I have reread this book" STARS

Eidolon is a demon and a doctor and the founder of the only demon hospital. A hospital where all lucky demons can visit, get well, not kill each other and then run free to torture more humans .... or not.

And of course in this hospital no humans are allowed, since humans are the worst race that walks on earth (according to the Demon Bible of course).

And then Eidolon's future lady, Tayla Mancuso, appears who is human, wounded and about to die and Eidolon decides to make her feel better in every possible way (deep sigh...).

Tayla basically has three secrets:
1 she likes killing demons because demons are bad (ha ha)
2 she cannot orgasm (poor Eidolon!)
3 the last secret will be revealed while you read the book and will be a surprise for her as well

I absolutely adore Eidolon. He is on my top ten list of desirable paranormal guys that although I have a crush on them, I do not want particularly to meet in person.
Eidolon is a Seminus demon, a sex demon that requires sex often in order to survive. And his love partner has to be satisfied in order for him to be satisfied. After a certain age, he has to be bonded to a female otherwise he will lose his mind. This age is approaching and Eidolon does not want to lose his mind. He has endured a lot to become the first demon doctor and to build the first demon hospital.

Underworld General Hospital aka UGH is a perfect little world. Demons –even the meanest ones- are likable or at least tolerable but definitely interesting.
The same way some humans can be bad and this is not accepted by humans’ society, some demons can be nice and this is not accepted by demons’ society.

The atmosphere of the series reminds me the TV series Angel, which I used to adore. Angel (David Boreanaz) was a vampire whose human soul was restored to him by gypsies as a punishment. Epic TV series!

Larissa Ione has created a whole new world with places, mythology, demon names and attributes. It will blow your mind if you love paranormal and you give it a chance.

Are you feeling emotionally blocked and bound up? Are your personal pleasures compromised by feelings of loneliness, dissatisfaction, murderous wrath? Is your sex life arid extra dry?

DIAGNOSIS: Torpid Trench Syndrome

TREATMENT: Treatment for TTS addresses the psychosis or delusional symptoms exhibited by lady demon-slayers. This often involves a combination of therapy and medication. Your incubus doctor may guide you through counseling, psychotherapy, or role play before a diagnosis.

 photo Dr Mike 13_zps3g5lccod.jpg

COMPLICATIONS: TTS causes sufferers to engage in risky, aggressive behavior. In some cases, this behavior can include the stalking or slaughter of poor innocent demons who are minding their own business. In rare cases, TTS can result in being taken to a secret demon hospital, sedated and strapped down, and then gently roused and aroused by a sexy incubus doctor who really fills out his scrubs and who is tenting those loose pants of his in obvious appreciation of your assets, so no need to get uptight about that, it's a natural reaction for humans and incubus doctors alike. Untreated TTS is often associated with pointless threats, "running hot & cold", pretending you're just not that into him, and strident whinese.

 photo doc mike 3_zpsbiruwrfl.jpg

OUTLOOK: TTS may only last for a few hours or days, but it can continue for months or years or forever. If you are a lady demon-slayer and notice symptoms of TTS, seek medical help right away. Getting treated for Torpid Trench Syndrome is crucial in maintaining a sexy lifestyle both above ground and within the Stygian depths below.

SUGGESTED MEDICATION: Seminus Incubus

 photo questions_zpshokq0vh4.jpg

USES: This medication is used to stoke and enhance uncontrollable sexy movements and/or outbursts of words/sounds. Seminus Incubus is a medication that works by increasing the activity of a natural substance (dopamine) in the brain and by increasing other sorts of activities as well. Take this medication by mouth, or any orifice, with or without food, usually once a day, or twice, or thrice, or however many times you can handle it, in the morning or at bedtime, or anytime, as directed by your incubus doctor.

 photo doc mike 1_zpsxk75z4h6.jpg

SIDE EFFECTS: Seminus Incubus may cause muscle/nervous system changes. Tell your incubus doctor right away if you notice any of the following side effects: relaxed muscles and attitude, sexy spasms, arching back, shaking, restlessness, dirty talk, bow-legged walk, drooling, a bed soaked with sweat and other fluids, and/or eyes rolling upwards in a cathartic ecstasy you never imagined was even possible. Your incubus doctor may prescribe increased dosages.

 photo VxQGieB_zpsnyedkhhx.gif

PRECAUTIONS: Before ingesting Seminus Incubus, tell your incubus doctor your medical and personal history, seriously tell him everything, especially in relation to: blood problems (e.g. drinking blood, bathing in blood, having half-human/ half-demon blood), rage, depression, weird mother, creepy father, overwhelming self-pity, ability to see in the dark, traumatic past (including irregular flashbacks), shitty apartment, weasel as pet, innate fighting skills (and that's hot), enrollment in a laughably loser-ish club of so-called "demon slayers", inability to have lasting relationships with wimpy human beta-males (can't blame you for that), and/or a completely unreasonable antipathy towards perfectly nice and sexy incubus doctors with superabundant magical semen that you shouldn't knock until you try it.

“UGH? Your hospital is called ‘ugh?’ Oh, that’s precious.”

I’m not going to go into a lot of plot detail, because honestly, there are already so many wonderful reviews out there, so I’ll just briefly share my thoughts on this book which is an awesome start to a great series.

The underlying story line of good vs. evil, with a very gray area defining them, has been done over and over by many authors, but very few have done it this well! And I was more than a little surprised because it can’t be easy to carve your own niche in a genre where everything’s been done to death, but Ms. Ione has created a world unlike any other, and I’m thrilled to have finally taken the leap into that world known as Demonica.

Saving the lives of demons, vampires, werewolves and any other number of species, is all in a day’s work for Eidolon, the head of Underground General Hospital. A demon himself, he knows what a bad rap his race has gotten, and so he tries to be fair in his treatment of everyone, including Tayla Mancuso, a demon-slayer who has been brought into Eidolon’s hospital, barely alive. Torn between saving her life or killing her, or saving her life so his brothers can kill her, Eidolon finds himself drawn to her at the most inopportune time in his life – just as he’s about to go through a horrific transformation that will make him one very dangerous Seminus demon.

Tayla Mancuso is a demon-slayer who takes her work seriously. Having witnessed her own mother’s murder at the hands of a demon, Tayla has made it her life’s mission to rid the world of as many of the monsters as possible. But as luck would have it, she’s landed in a hospital - a demon run hospital at that - and all she wants is to get out of there as quickly as possible. Oh, and to have wild monkey sex with her doctor. There were several laugh out loud moments in the book, like this one when Tayla has been unconscious and is finally coming out of it. Though her mind is foggy, she’s been admiring the doctor who has been working to save her life and says, "I'll bet you could make a woman throw out all her toys." Had she said that out loud? The cocky grin on his face told her that yes, she'd verbalized her runaway thoughts.

As I said, I’m not going to spend a lot of time on plot details, so I’ll close with another favorite snippet, a quick exchange which also takes place between Eidolon and Tayla:

She had a feeling he was messing with her, but it didn’t matter. She couldn’t take the bite. Not until she asked the vital questions that had been bugging her since she woke up.

“So, uh, where am I exactly? And what do you plan on doing with me?”

“You’re at Underground General Hospital. As you can probably guess, we specialize in nonhuman medical care. Our location is secret, so don’t ask.”

“UGH? Your hospital is called ‘ugh?’ Oh, that’s precious.”

The bottom line – If you enjoy PNR and are looking for something a little different than what we usually find in this genre, I would encourage you to give this book a shot.

This book is utterly fascinating. What an interesting universe. I wish I had this author's imagination. For anyone who's read Lovecraft, I think this book is Lovecraft mythos meets romance novel. I can say that reading this book was a unique experience. Ms. Ione did a fantastic job developing this world within/around/under the regular world, where demons are the good guys. Sort of. Not all demons are good, but not all are bad. I can't say too much about that without spoiling a person who wants to read this book. Let's just say that it really turns around things for a person raised in the Christian tradition. I don't feel like a person who believes in Christianity shouldn't read this book, though.

This book is sexed up. However it makes sense if you consider the characters and their demonic type. I felt that the sex did fit in with the story very well.

The characters are well-developed and interesting. Their motivations are clear and their struggles play well into the storyline. I feel that Ione captures the tortured characters that I like very well. Although she follows a similar formula for the paranormal series, she claims this niche and makes it her own. Tayla is a likable heroine although she is not the unblemished, cleancut type of heroine. She's had a very rough life and seen and done things that would keep some people up at night. I admired her fortitude and her strength. She had to go through some pretty painful things in her life, and within the timeline of this story. Eidolon was also likeable and conflicted. He's born to be on the dark side, but has done his best to have morals and has dedicated his life to medicine. He is about to face a change in his body and mind that could drive him over the edge, and it does make this story compelling. It's hard to say too much because it would spoil a person, so I am eluding to these things. I would say that reading this book is like peeling away onion layers to find higher levels of understanding. It's an enjoyable process. As a fan of mythology and folklore, I think she made the demonic taxonomy, if you will, very credible for her universe. I wouldn't mind reading one of the demonic natural history books that Eidolon owned, in fact. She made up quite a few species and gave them characteristics that were interesting and creative, causing laughter at some moments, and dread at others.

One of the things I liked about this book was how she played with the reader's perception of right and wrong. You go from feeling bad for the humans, then to feeling bad for the demons, and then you come to realize that in this universe, neither group is always right or always wrong. They both commit atrocities that will make you wince, and it adds to the moral ambivalence of her universe. For that reason, you should approach this story with an open mind and with the understanding that it is a fictional world which does not have to have bearing on our consciousness of the real world.

The secondary characters are very intriguing, particularly Eidolon's brothers. You definitely want to read about their stories, and also Gem, who plays a very pivotal role in this story. I want to see how things play out with the human male Kynan, who she is in love with.

At times eye-raising, and always intriguing, I did enjoy this book. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed, but overall, the pacing was very good and the story flew by.

"I'm not sure I trust you."

Pleasure Unbound is the first book in the Demonica Series. After reading a novella by this author, I was anxious to dive in! Tayla Mancuso has always been different. She works undercover in an underground group fighting demons. She fights hard and wants to rid the world of demons! However, when she ends up injured and in a hospital (run by demons), she meets and falls hard for Eidolon (a demon). The two could not be more different and yet, together they become an unstoppable force.

“Touch me. Make me forget all this.
Told in multiple POV, Pleasure Unbound is a perfect opposite attract romance set in a magical world where humans and all sorts of paranormal beings dwell. Eidolon and Tayla have an intense bond that grows physically and emotionally through every trial they face.
“Fuck me, I love her.”
Overall, Pleasure Unbound was a perfect start to what promises to be another outstanding paranormal series. With passion, romance, action, and intrigue, I am dying for more! I am so glad that I discovered this author and I cannot wait for more!

I had to do some math to figure out how to rate this book. Never a good sign. In the end it was lucky to get 2.5 stars from me (I rounded up (See? I can be nice)). It started out pretty strong but about 100 pgs in things started to go downhill. Here's why: Tayla, the "heroine".

I basically hated her for three quarters of the book. She's a hot-neurotic-mess. And not in a good way. According to C. George Boeree neurosis involves:

"…anxiety, sadness or depression, anger, irritability, mental confusion, low sense of self-worth, etc., behavioral symptoms such as phobic avoidance, vigilance, impulsive and compulsive acts, lethargy, etc., cognitive problems such as unpleasant or disturbing thoughts, repetition of thoughts and obsession, habitual fantasizing, negativity and cynicism, etc. Interpersonally, neurosis involves dependency, aggressiveness, perfectionism, schizoid isolation, socio-culturally inappropriate behaviors, etc."

I could go through each of these symptoms and point out a direct example of Tayla exhibiting each one but I won't because this review would turn into a novella. Instead I'll comment on a few of the more glaring issues I had with her.

1- In a confrontation, she's the escalator. Always. If someone pisses her off, she hits them. If they pull a knife, she pulls a bazooka.

2- When given the option of accepting a hard truth or cowering in the false security of a convenient lie, she chooses the lie. Every time.

3- She has Can't-Make-Up-Her-Fucking-Mind Syndrome. There are so many examples of this I can't pick just one.

4- She's TSTL. Her poor choices put not only herself but others in mortal peril on numerous occasions. If she'd been alone in these instances, she'd have gotten her face chewed off, which she'd likely never admit.

Here's the part where you say "Okay, Litchick, if you hated her so much why did you keep reading?" I'll tell you why. First, I really liked not only the hero, Eidolon, but the rest of the support characters, even though the usage of verbs-as-names confused me a little. Secondly, just when I was reaching the breaking point with Tayla the perspective would shift and I'd get sucked back in. Ione, you tricky devil. You did this on purpose, didn't you? Thirdly, during the last 60 pgs Tayla pulls her head out of her ass. And lastly, I only had to wait 20 pages for the schmexy times to begin.

Speaking of which…

Dear All Authors Who Write Sex Scenes,

Here are a few phrases I'd like you to never use again:

1- "Slippery Juices"
The sex scene in my head immediately disappeared and was replaced by an unsuspecting Looney Toon character strolling along down a hallway whistling Dixie before accidentally stepping in "slippery juices" and falling on their ass complete with windmilling arms and flailing legs.

2- "Clenching Womb"
This phrase brings back memories (which I've tried to suppress) of health class junior year, in which myself and twenty other (now emotionally scarred) teenage girls were forced to watch a thirty minute video of the "money shot" of a birth.

Yours Truly,
Litchick

P.S - DON'T YOU THINK THE NEW COVERS ARE SO MUCH BETTER? ;)

This review is for mature readers only!!!

I wasn't sure about reading Pleasure Unbound. I LOVED the 3rd one, it was my first EVER erotica book, but the 4th one was just 'ehhh' for me (FROM WHAT I CAN REMEMBER!!!). It's been ages.

At first, i must admit i had some problems getting into it. I didn't really care about what was happening, and i found it all boring. Well, i'm happy to say it didn't take long to change my mind. I was hooked since then, and i really began to love the characters.

thumbs up gif 18

Tayla Mancuso is a demon slayer. A good one at that, until things start happening to her - she can't control her movements, it's like her body is frozen. And not being able to kill/defend herself whilst fighting with a dangerous demon? Not good. But instead of matters getting better, they get much worse. She lands in a hospital, run by demons in disguise.

The head doctor makes her body burn with unshakable desire. But to prove her ultimate loyalty to her pears, the only family she has, she must betray the man who saved her life.

Why i loved Tayla?: Tayla was a freaking kickass and awesome character that i just adored!
 photo raylan-ninja_zps10d19428.gif
She's been through some crazy sh*t in her life but that didn't manage to bring her down. She's isolated and alone. Tayla has been that way since her mother died when she was a teen. She had to fend for herself ever since, she did whatever was necessary to survive. As a result, living on the streets, has taught her to never completely trust anyone. To never let your guard down. Throughout the book she develops, and at the end becomes a strong, happy individual surrounded by a family that accepts and loves her.

im really proud of you zpse2d49a92

Why i loved Eidolon?:
tumblr m5xjvm Vlg J1r5r8jw

He is definitely an unlikely hero/protagonist. In these days every guy is an arragont bad boy. Eidolon? Not the case.
tumblr m6bt6lrikd1ro53fq

I'm so glad that he isn't, because how many times can you read about practically the same guys all over again? I'm really getting sick of them. Don't get me wrong, Eidolon could still more than hold his own, and could definitely snap anyone's neck without a prob. But he was mostly good and loved saving demons lifes, even though it could sometimes be a real pain in the ass. AND... HE WAS STILL HOT LIKE THE ALABAMA SUN!!!! *wink*.

"Harder.More"
He tore his mouth away from hers. "More?" With one more powerful, dominating thrust, the bed scooted forward. "Tell me how much more."
Speaking seemed like a impossibility when he lifted her hips against him and rode her harder and deeper, fueling the fire in her blood.
"Like that." She said between panting breaths. "Do it like that."

Did i mention that Eidolon has not 1, but 2 equally (if not more) hot brothers that are yet to find a mate?!
tumblr lp2b82 AHg S1r0zbwoo1 500

There's Shade (his story is in book 2) and Wraith (book 3). As you know, i already read Wraiths story. Boy was it good!!!!

I loved these brothers. They each have something in them that i absolutely adore. And even though they are related, they couldn't be more different. And their relationship with each other, their brotherhood, is so beautiful and heartwarming. Even though aliens would sooner invade than these 3 would admit how much they care for each other, you can clearly see it by the way they support and lookout for one another.
tumblr inline mlxv0f IYR31qz4rgp

149111 zps3ff1a301

The sex scenes were MIND-FREAKING-BLOWING!!!! And i rarely say that. This book, heck, this entire series has the most hottest and the most amazing sex i have ever read in a book. If that doesn't turn you on, then you should probably become a nun cause nothing else will.

"I can picture you pleasuring yourself," He murmured. "Your legs spread wide, you sex swollen and wet, your fingers coated in your sweet arousal. What do you think about when you come, Tayla?"

 photo gifs-sex-and-sexuality-33293779-500-281_zps494dede1.gif

All that mattered was that he take her. Bond with her. Make her his.
"Mine," He growled into her slender colums of her throat. "You're mine."
"Yes...oh, yes". Her voice throbbed with the promise of what she was saing. That she was his, that all his years of empty sex with empty females was coming to an end, that he would no longer worry of becoming an mindless beast, that there would be no more loneliness for ether of them.

Overall Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione was...

The world that's surrounded by demons was imaginative and epic. The different types of demons were very creative, creepy and cool. They were all different. There were twists in the plot that i did not see coming at all . The book didn't only have romance, it had action and suspense. And it wasn't just about demons, it was about brotherhood, loyalty, family and most of all love.

"Shh." He made a sound, a near-purr, and his hands came up to hold her palm against him in a gesture so tender and loving she felt it in her soul.
"The future is what matters now. Because of you, i have one."
"Because of you, i fell like i finally belong somewhere."

Re-reading it (yes again, this makes it my 5th time) for the Buddy read with the MacHalos October 16, 2015.

I love this book every time, I can't put it down! It goes by incredibly fast, you have finished it before you realize it.

The book traps you from the very beginning. It has the perfect amount of action, romance, world-building and side characters.

The idea of this world, the idea of good vs. evil both in humans and demons, all surrounding the Underground General Hospital, it's pretty interesting and entertaining.

I liked the development of the romance. The moments and conversations that Tayla and Eidolon shared where meaningful every time.
Tayla grew, healed, trusted and loved with Eidolon's help. His self-assurance, kindness, patience and understanding lead her to shatter her barriers. In the end, she opened her eyes and stopped being the innocent, traumatized, seeking to belong, scared and prejudiced girl that she was and became her own person, her own woman, her own demon.

All the characters are well developed. I really like ALL the side characters in this book.
The three seminus demon brothers are intriguing, attractive and seducing. There is left no doubt that you are going to want to know more about them and keep reading the series.
Gem's story gets better and better in each book, and by the 3rd one she has had a great love story all around.
Since I am an animal lover, I enjoyed that Eidolon and Tayla had their own furry pets, it was refreshing to have a dog and a weasel versus the typical cat (I don't have anything against cats, I just think it is a nice change; I am a dog person after all, and this kind of books tend to give preference to cats).

Audiobook: I cannot say the narrator is bad because she is not. Cassandra Campbell does a good job with this. However, I can't say I liked her, personally speaking I am more inclined towards a more lively, happy and energetic voice. She sounds a bit glum for my taste. I needed more vitality in Tayla. Her voice for Eidonon is cool though.

P.S.: I love, love this series! This is one of my favorite Paranormal Romance Series of all time. Larissa Ione's Lords of Deliverance Series are great too!

I’ve very late to this party and since most of my friends loved this book/series I was looking forward to a great read.

Unfortunately I had one huge problem with this book and that was Tayla.
I couldn’t stand her. I tried, I really did but I found her whiny, ignorant and stupid.
Is that too harsh?
Maybe and I understand why she hates demons I really do. But when she discovers they run a hospital and even though she kills them and they hate her they still save her life. Yet she continues on with her demons are bad, bad demons kill kill kill.

I had other issues but she was the main one which was a shame because it wasn’t all bad.

I vehemently hated the female character, Tayla, for 80% of this book, possibly more. She's stupid, whiney, angsty, emo, and super fucking annoying. Hated so much I thought of DNF-ing it, and I might have, but I ate chocolate mousse while I read.

Eidolon is the male mc. I liked him, he's a hot demon doctor who doesn't seen to find Tayla super annoying. He's rather enchanted by her fiery judgmental behavior, which made me wonder if he had a degenerative brain disorder. Seems he kind of did, but he still wanted to get hot with the idiot female.

The book is all about Tayla being a whiney emo and making everyone want to end her. Eidolon is all patient & kind with her. Then the "murder mystery" continues. Lots of sex and denying attraction between all these things.

I hate Gem, too.

Buddy Read with the MacHalos, even if I started days late.

Yippee! Another new author for my list...like it's not big enough already. I'm so glad I got "Pleasure Unbound" by Larissa Ione. She's produced a really interesting and unusual world of demons where the 'bad' guys aren't all bad (but some of them sure are) and the 'good' guys aren't all good either. Her demon-infested world will suck you in and the next thing you know...it's 2:00 a.m. and you have to get up in less than 4 hours to go to work. Oh wait...that's me.

Demons aren't all bad. They also aren't all ugly either. And Eidolon? Yummy. A doctor! Sexy, thoughtful, more of a Beta with occasional Alpha bursts. Sounds just like the man your parents wanted you to marry, eh? Well apart from the whole demon thing. And did I mention he's a sex demon? Need I say more?

Tayla is a demon-slayer. At 16 she saw the thing that killed her mother and it certainly wasn't a crazed human like the cops said. Since then, she lives in the underworld unseen by most humans and hunts all demons. Until one saves her life. But aren't all demons evil? Don't they all kill? She has some hard truths to learn and difficult decisions to make a result. Sometimes her decisions weren't the best...welcome to the human race.

I liked the world. I liked the plotline. I liked the two lead characters, faults and all. Anyway, Ione hit a home run for me with this intricate story and I definitely plan on picking up Eidolon's brothers' stories when they are relased in March and April 2009.

I just wanna thank you Larissa for this amazing series, but mostly I just can't believe I've liked it even more after a 2nd read.

I have a shelf called 'top-50' in where I selected the best 50 books in 500 I have read. This series has been in it since I read it almost a couple of years ago, so I had forgotten many things about it. It has been ages since I read a book I could place in that shelf and I have been tying find another one for so long without success that I decided to re-read one of the books in it and see why they were in there in the first place. I thought that maybe I just started pretending too much from the books or that I got used to them or something.
Well, now I know that is not the case, that there are some books that are better than the rest. This is definitely one of them.

Why is it in my 'top-50' shelf?
-Amazing main characters.
The hero, Eidolon, is a super hot intellectual doctor who has great values (for being a demon,LOL). A super interesting character which you can't help but just to read more about. Then there's the heroine: Most of the times I don't care about the heroines, but in this case I couldn't forget her at all. Tayla Mancuso is a strong willed ass kick heroine which you would do good not messing with her. But it's not only the amazing characteristics that described them both, it's everything else about them: their pasts, relatives, histories, works and everything that makes them what they are. Larissa not only presents you characters to be satisfied for the time being but she creates persons, you just feel like you know them once you finish the books.

-terrific secondary characters.
Many times I have read a book and not care about any other characters than the hero and the heroine of the story, well this was definitely not the case because since page one I already knew I wanted to read a book about every single one of them and that I could never get enough. This author just knows how to present many complex characters with so much interesting information about them but still not leave the main plot forgotten. Not many know how to do this, but she does.

-BEST FRICKING PLOT EVER!
What's not to like about demons who run a hospital, guardians who dedicate their lives to extinct evil form the world and a romance between swore enemies? How not to LOVE this? if you like paranormal romance this is just the series you have been looking for.

-Amazing world building.
Most of the authors in this genre tell you the story is about a demon and that he has some cool powers, but this author not only writes a book about demons but she creates a whole new world with thousands of species of demons, each of them with different powers and characteristics and she explains them all to us in a way that you just wanna know more because it's too entertaining. Most of the first books in a series can be too heavy with world building information, but this is definitely not the case as you always wanna know more.

And I could just go on and on and on with the things I love about the Demonica series.

More than anything I just wanna say that I loved to re-read it because it made me remember why I loved it so much and what a book needed to have in order to get into my favs shelf. Now I understand why even though I have read many amazing books most of them couldn't make it into that shelf and that is that they were lacking something this one has.
Can't wait to re-read the next!

Larissa Ione's introduction into the world of demons was quite memorable! Her demons are deliciously sexy. I enjoyed the chemistry between Tayla and Idolin, even if some of the scenes there at the beginning were a bit questionable in their ethics for doctor and patient. The world-building was phenomenal, and I loved the conflict set up between each of the brothers and also the conflict of Tayla having to decide what to do about her Will definitely be reading on to the next book.

It takes me awhile to get to most of the paranormal romance books I own because, well, I'm not really a fan of them. Most of the time instead of my eyes being glued to the paged, they're rolling. I was in the mood for one, though, and this one shines with its average ratings on Goodreads, so I dove in last night and already finished it today.

It's one of THOSE books. You know, the ones that are hard to put down and like second nature to pick back up again. The plot is one that's been done before, many times, but with unique twists for this invented world. The author went out of her way to form different kinds of monsters and demons, some evil and some not, all with their own hangups. To make that even more involved, the demons can have different twists to their breed depending on parentage, age, and upbringing. It's borderline confusing.

Enter the main character, who has a startlingly disturbing back story. Sure, a lot of main characters in these series have it rough, but this one has a post-traumatic stress disorder story that would make the most hardened psychologist cringe. Her devotion to the annoying Aegis is believable, but I'm glad it was short lived since it irritated me.

There aren't many surprises, and no real mystery or anything, or any tightly woven suspense scenes that made the blood rush. It still works because the main characters are likeable. They're not sappy, they're not dopey, the female protagonist Tayla has only a mild chip on the shoulder that is easy to remove, and the male protagonist Eidolon (yeah, I had to look it up...) isn't too angsty.

Since it's a paranormal romance, of course there's plenty of sex. But while a lot of these books make it the focus point and just silly, this one makes the relationship itself shine through firmer than the insta-lust. It works with how it makes sense and the characters have more than a primal, mate-now bond. Dare I say it's a sweet relationship?

As far as paranormal romances go, this is a dark one with gritty violence, morbid histories for the characters, and disturbing torture flashbacks. The next books follow the characters introduced here, and of course them finding their mates, which is a formula that seems to work for this kind of stuff. Because of the formulaic continuance, I won't rush to buy the next one, but I will say this book made me a happy reader. Funny lines, loveable main characters, an interesting enough unique world, and some semi-erotic moments that worked.

Eh, this one was just fine. Nothing special, but I didn't hate it. It was a long book, but not a lot actually happened? The plot really picked up near the end and the plot line I was most interested in wasn't even resolved in this book. The romance was fine, but didn't really pull me in. Not sure if I'm invested enough to pick up the next book.

RE-READ

Original squeeeing review can be read below in spoiler tag *which kinda make me embarrassed, lol*, but well, I'm glad I got my fangirl-mojo back.

While I kinda lost contact with friend that recommend me this book back at 2011 (wow, time sure flies fast. 8 years ago!!), I can't thank her enough to my intro into Demonica series. Sure this series have some up and down, but Larissa Ione always deliver. Pleasure Unbound is no exception. Eidolon still is, non-arguable- my favorite Seminus demon, even readers love Wraith more. I know that Tayla at first can be too hot-headed, but I can't blame her because fanatical thought is horrible (and still do until now.). I like how Ione solved Tayla's sexual problems, not just magically cure her can't-orgasm by Eidolon's magic peen in the first time, but make it progress slowly while E and Tayla try to understand each other. Who knows that a simple hospital for demons and just your ordinary battle between good vs evil can be so..so ..much more.

Also, Pleasure Unbound is the most erotic Demonica book Ione's write (bordering erotica, tho), so who am I to complaint, hahaha. Since her books after that tend to plot rather than just some sex scenes throw in your face. But, hey, Ione is one of those authors that know how to write blazing, scorching, sex scene, so go figure!

Ah, I missed all those good paranormal romance books in their glory era (circa 2008-2014) *sigh*

Pleasure Unbound is the first book in the Demonica series, and I loved it. It was a tough beginning, trying to learn all the different characters aka demons, but the book has a glossary to help you out.
You find out that the good guys aren't always good, and the bad guys aren't always bad. Sometimes, they must toe the line to help each other out.

5 stars – Paranormal Romance

There are so many positive reviews for this series, and for very good reason. Ione's writing is original, clever, funny, and steamy and the world she created full of demons, slayers, vampires, weres, half-breeds, crossbreeds, and humans coexisting in multidimensional realms is utterly imaginative, dark, hypnotic, and sensual. Ione is definitely a fresh voice in the paranormal romance genre and her Demonica series truly stands out for its creativity and raw eroticism. Pleasure Unbound is a fascinating and sexy read...a well deserved 5 stars.

For a book that is supposedly urban fantasy but is actually just a kind of paranormal erotica, I actually liked it a lot more than I thought I would. And, sure, I'm not a complete idiot and I understood beforehand that any book, urban fantasy or not, that is called 'Pleasure Unbound' will have more than it's fair share of smut and/or romance. But... is it really so difficult to get a good UF mystery going in the background before the main couple get it on. I'm slightly disappointed but no longer surprised. It seems that recently every book I read from the UF/PNR pile is very little of the former with a whole lot of smutty emphasis on the latter.

I read erotica, I have a lot of respect and adoration for authors who can build up sexual tension; but if you're going to write a book that is little more than entirely erotically based, why even bother getting the reader's hopes up by calling it something it isn't. For the most part I enjoyed this novel. I liked him a lot better than I liked her, which isn't particularly good when I'm trying to relate to the female protagonist. Their sex scenes were scorching and some of the darker aspects of the novel were in equal parts disturbing and gripping - like a car crash.

If you compare it to Storm Born, which is another novel that is more sex than it is plot, then it's far more enjoyable and far better written. I'm of the minority opinion that Storm Born was probably Mead's greatest failure (that I have read so far anyway) mostly because I, as a Richelle Mead fan, went into it expecting something like her Succubus series and got hastily (and poorly) put-together random monsters, mythology and a general mish-mash of nonsense.

And now that I'm done ripping apart Richelle Mead, I'll get back to my point: I liked Pleasure Unbound. It had the potential to be a great book if Larissa Ione had worked more on the general plot instead of going on and on about a demon with semen to rival that stuff you get in pots on the back shelves of Ann Summers (you think I'm joking? I'm not). At the moment I'm not rushing out to read more of this series because I have so many other books awaiting my attention, but I won't say that I'll never return to it.

Wow! This was a really cool book! Its also very hot for a mass market paperback....

Tayla is a "slayer" that hunts the bad guys; Demons, Vampires, the whole 9 yards... until one day she ends up in a hospital with some serious injuries. When she comes to-- she realizes she isnt in a human hospital, she's in a Demon hospital... and her doctor is a VERY HOT demon named Eidolon.

Tayla has to figure out if demons really are as bad as she thinks they are, because she starts to feel something for Eidolon... and to top it off... hes a SEX demon!

Smoking hot! I need a fan... STAT!!

Como introducción está pasable.

Personajes interesantes, una buena historia, estilo ligero. Bueno.

There is a battle going on, between demons and the Aegis, humans who are trained to kill the demons, who supposedly kill and rape innocent humans indiscrimately, demons who are little more then evil beasts. At least that is what Tayla Manusco has been told and past experience confirms this. But when Tayla is picked up an ambulance after being badly hurt and taken to a demon hospital who where she is introduced to Eidolon, a hot demon doctor who heals her, and discovers a few unwelcome truths about her.

This books was great, I loved the idea of a demon hospital, it was like a cross between PNR and ER! I also liked the world that LI had created, there were loads of different demons who were varying degrees of evil and they even had a demon bible, which was ver interesting.

The characters Eidolon and Tayla, although were the focus of the story, I didn't find them the most intrigiung characters. Wraith and Shade Eidolon's brothers are who had me interested and who have encouraged me carry on reading the series. However, although Eidolon and Tayla may not stand out in a genre jam packed with similar characters, I still found their story interesting and was eager for them to have their HEA. It took a while for me to like Tayla, but I did, kind of, in the end, I think once she stopped being angry and divided she lost a lot of her personality so there wasn't anything to really irritate me anymore! I also liked hearing about Gem, Tayla's long lost twin and I really hope she appears in the next book.

But although I enjoyed this book, and it had the original idea of having a story centred around a demon hospital, the plot line and story in general is nothing that really stood out for me. It had the standard hot paranormal hero and a warrior woman who he wants (when he finlly admists it) as his mate. However, I have heard that this seriesi improves as it goes on, so I look forward to hearing about Shade and what his mysterious curse is!

Note after reading Ecstacy Unveiled: Eidolon just keeps getting better through this series! I wasn't to enarmoured of him in this book, bit now I wants him!

I love Eidolon! His dark hair, his lickable dermoire and his brains? What’s not to love! And as a Seminus demon, he requires sex often. As if there wasn’t more to love about him! E is a doctor at Underworld General Hospital and his hunky brothers Shade and Wraith work there as well. All three of them are such well developed characters that I am dying to know more about! I can’t wait for Shade and Wraith’s books!

I love love LOVE Gem! The first line from her perspective is hilarious: “Doctor Gemella Endri was up to her elbows in condoms.” The situation she is in makes it all the more hyterical. But I don’t want to spoil anything! Gem has her own little romantic story going on throughout the first three books, so I’m interested to see where that leads!

In that case, I have to mention how interesting Kynan is. I want to learn so much more about him. I feel bad about what happens to him, but it also opens up a lot of opportunities for him as well. Especially when he does the most unthinkable thing at the end.

I cannot wait to see how the rest of the series spans out. I need to buy it now. What's so great about this series is that it's dark and brooding, but there is that light in there too. There's hope for these characters after all that they have endured. Tayla's character is a great example of this. In the beginning, she is consumed by this blind rage against all demonkind, but after she learns more about the demon world and herself, she becomes more and more open to different possibilities. She learns that not everything is black and white. There are grey areas in between. She learns this through her love with Eidolon and her developing fondness for Gem.

Ione's got the skills to write the most amazing books. I can't wait to read Eternal Rider, the first book of the new spinoff series! Bring it!

Wow! Who would have thought that demons could be so hot and sexy?

Pleasure Unbound was an absolute pleasure to read. The book was exciting, exhilarating, and oh, so steamy. The steamy parts fit in very well with the story. From the very first page to the last, I was pulled into this very imaginative world. The world building was fantastic. It was pure magic. I didn’t want to put the book down.

I liked how the author challenged our preconceived notions. Are all demons evil? Is it possible to be a “good” demon as opposed to an “evil” demon? In this book, demons hold jobs, have families, and lives similar to humans. Demons are organized enough to have their own justice system, moral codes, a hospital, and the ability to live peacefully amongst humans.

The character development was well done. Eidolon, our demon doctor has a rigid moral code while he is in the Underworld General Hospital (UGH – love the acronym!). He has vowed to treat anything that comes in, even a human. When an injured human demon hunter is brought into his hospital, he treats her because she is in his hospital and his moral code requires him to do so. Eidolon is a special character – he is fiercely loyal to his family, he is dedicated to his hospital. Eidolon is a seminus demon, and he will soon undergo a change to a mature demon. And of course, Eidolon is drop dead gorgeous. Tayla comes from a completely different world. Tayla is a member of the Aegis, the demon hunters. She was raised to believe that all demons are evil and must be killed. Her ideas of good vs. evil are challenged when she meets Eidolon. Their relationship is full of fire and passion.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
